My Soul to Take (2010)

It's OK but could have been so much more

It was a pretty interesting idea, but some core aspects about a horror film were done very poorly in this one, particularly pacing. it felt too fast and when you watch the film you'll see what I mean. There is minimal exposition (which is key to building character development and the characters are 1 dimensional. It was sufficiently gory and had a freaky villain but the twist at the end didn't really match the person of the killer. The film has some great atmosphere too used jumpscares quite a bit.

It could have been so much more but it would have had to fix all these issues, particularly pacing and characters

Diablo III (2012 Video Game)

An absolute disappointment and poor launch

I bought diablo 3 at launch expecting it to be a good introduction to the diablo franchise. The first problem stems from the abysmal launch where it took me and many others hours just to log in because of some "error 36/37". At the time i didn't care because I was excited when i played the game and created my badass Demon Hunter and then I found another error, the lack of character customization, i think the demon hunter's have awesome male and female models but the other characters don't meet my appeal. I played upto level 20 on normal difficulty and enjoyed my experience upto that point, until i realized the game was, point, spam, done without any interesting equipment. I learnt only a few weeks ago that the devs made the equipment deliberately bland for normal to encourage people to play on inferno, however i was unaware of this at the time. Some other issues i have with the game include graphics and atmosphere, the game is surprisingly low ended graphics wise with the only exception being the cutscenes which are phenomenal, and i was lead to believe that diablo 3 would be an extremely grim and disturbing world, it was meh... One praise i have for diablo 3 is it's boss fights which i found incredibly entertaining and the dialog in towns and with the companions (specifically the templar) Here are a few bullet points to outline diablo 3 +Great cutscense +Great dialogue +Great boss fights -Horrific launch -below average graphics -repetitive nature -tame content (no mature focus) -boring loot

If i were to recommend a game similar in play style, Torchlight 1 or 2 (though i have briefly touched upon the games they are miles better than diablo 3)

Prometheus (I) (2012)

Good Movie, But Only Memorable For a Particular scene

I went to see this with a bunch of friends, and yeah enjoyed it trying to keep spoilers to a minimum the story was surprisingly bland and boring for a Ridley Scott film and some of the acting from the support cast was horrendous (although some other performances were good) the film was visually impressive but their is one scene in movie that stands out particularly about 3/5 in the movie which I wont spoil, but when you see it, its one of those scenes that makes the movie memorable and people will talk about its actually a surprise that the movie is not an 18 with the amount of gore and sex jokes but really when you compare this movie to the first two in the alien series it just doesn't have the atmosphere and impact as those movies. that's not a deterrent though, you should defiantly watch this movie full stop.

The Hunger Games (2012)

Brilliant adaptation of the book

The hunger games is truly one of the best book to film adaptations I've seen in a while straying a little from the actual plot in the book. there were a few differences which may annoy you if you read the books and it may not capture the true emotion of the characters from the book and it may not be as gory as it should be (book great if you like gore) but nether the less it is well written, beautiful scenarios and the actors do very good jobs in their rolls). this movie has much more significance for me as it captured what a world that i always had an image of in my head and replicated it almost perfectly).

Snakes on a Plane (2006)

Don't take this movie to seriously

Snakes on a plane is one of those movies which is not meant to be taken seriously but instead is just something which is meant to be an enjoyable thrill ride. Snakes on a plane is a movie which can contort and play around with movie stereotypes and have them suffer an unexpected faith or even better a suffer a delightfully gruesome death. there are a few flaws such as cgi and continuity errors but that's it and it doesn't decrease the enjoyment factor of the movie too much

by snakes. watch it, relax, and don't take it to seriously warning, don't watch if you are one of the following, squeamish,suffer from Ophidiophobia or your just a cinema snob

Insidious (I) (2010)

below average and not scary

when i watched this movie I thought I would probably have trouble sleeping tonight (mainly for the fact that I'm the biggest coward that you've ever seen) but i also thought it would be an interesting movie to watch (at least not alone) so we watched it with the lights off and for the first 30 minuets and it was alright even though it was a bit cliché. but towards the 2/3 of the movie things became cliché for the worst of reasons. the characters became even more dull than they already were and downright silly. even the usually enjoyable nerds of movies like these were poorly executed. i don't really see what was so scary about this movie. pedo women who stole my look, guy with claws and old people. the ending reminded me too much of Michael Jackson's thriller. so yeah in conclusion an overrated cheap flick which is so bad it becomes funny.
