Kyô Samurai Musashi (2020)
An experience
Crazy Samurai Musashi is an experience not a movie. If you rate it like a movie you probably would find it just repetitive and not spectacular. What are you expectations? John Wick with a sword? No this is not it even if the corpse count is comparable. A Zatoichi movie? Kill Bill? No. After the first ten minutes you start being on the shoulder of Mushashi, understanding that every stroke of the sword is a duel per se, that the repetitive task of battling is life, that Musashi faced up with a grimace, ready to live or die but at its own pace, with its own rules. You see that he planned this journey and at the same time is ready to face the unknown, He's human, tired, but a war machine. He's THE samurai. Crazy Samurai Musashi.
Not for every taste, but a Masterpiece.
Great movie!
Raised by Wolves: The Beginning (2020)
meh
The show started in a very good way. You have to accept that it does not make sense from the beginning for a lot of things but you get slowly fascinated by the topos of the serie. After episode six it starts getting a bit too confused (multiple storylines, the girl in the dark, how is it possible to get an android pregnant etc), but it still can make a bit of sense (I remember that also Asimov wrote a novel about a robot getting pregnant since it was the only chance for a robot to go against the three low of robotics, even if it was written as a divertissement), but the final of season is just: mehhhhh. Hopefully it will get a second season even if with this finale I won't be surprised if the show will be cancelled. Also quite baffling and makes you think you've waisted a good 10 hours of your time. Let's see if it gets another chance
The Ward (2010)
Refreshing for classic horror lover ! Kudos to Carpenter
I was quite intrigued by the reviews around since I didn't understand why it didn't convince too much the viewers. So I just rent the DVD and started watching it on a lazy Sunday.I have to premise that I'm not an hard core horror lover but I've always enjoyed Carpenter's movie. If you like gore, torture porn, saw etc I think this will not be a movie for you. It starts quite slowly and it just gives you hint of whats happening. You are transported with the protagonist in a Ward and you must understand what happened to you. You probably wont' be disappointed I have to admit, it's quite an easy job for a master like Carpenter, but nowadays, even if not too much surprising for thriller veterans, it remains a solid performance. Much better than torture porn around.
Kudos to a master
