83 (2021)
An awesome tribute to the world cup win!!
I watched the movie last week and still have an hangover of it. I loved the narration of the movie and as a cricket buff thoroughly enjoyed the details of what happened on the field, in the dressing room and between the matches. Can't have a better cinematic documentation of the world cup. If you love cricket and haven't witnessed the glory of 83's world cup, its a must watch for you!!
I wish Kabir Khan creates a movie on the 2011 world cup win as well!!
A Gentleman (2017)
Its a shame that the movie flopped
Raj & DK are at their best. They have shown how intelligently you can write a film which has all the elements of humour, action, and emotion. Quirky dialogues, good performances, great humour, and great plot. Would love to see a sequel. Thank you Raj & DK, I thoroughly enjoyed the film. Truly respect you, its a most underrated movie ever!
Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019)
I am really concerned about our Defence if what was shown is true
To start with 16th December was a much better movie if you compare the intelligence of that film with URI, border was much more patroitic and baby had more thrilling edge of the seats moments. When watching a film like URI, you expect it to have three key elements: Intelligence, Patroitism and Thrill. But URI is a average film in all three departments. People are just blindly giving amazing reviews just because I guess its a different film.
Two spoilers:
We painted our helicopters in Pakistani colors to enter in Pakistan without getting noticed..isn't that funny. And even pakistan who is always show to have a weaker intelligence than India gets to know about this funny plan.
DRDO chief was shown running stupidly for flying a eagle like looking drone which an intern created and this drone help us to win the war. Although the drone didn't work flawlessly and almost captured the attentions of enemies. But the point is drones these are used to attack and we are still struggling with creating a drone and our DRDO head doesn't even realize its importance.
Well if these two things are truely depicted then I am seriously concerned about our defence and intelligence. Otherwise you understand why I am calling URI an average film.
Jab Harry Met Sejal (2017)
Great watch till the Climax
Enjoyed the movie thoroughly. But I felt the climax was flat and same I can find in feedback from others viewers. Being an avid moviegoer, I always think what was missing that could have made the movie better. In this case, I think there could have been a more elaborated background story on Harry in the beginning. How he ran from Punjab because of his conflict with his father who didn't want him to become a singer. He comes to Canada but couldn't pursue his dream and finally end up being a travel guide in Europe. He was always seeking for something which he found in Sejal. In the climax, Harry visits India to find Sejal but couldn't find her, he visits his home tell his mom that he his happy and can't stay here, and comes back to Prague/Frankfurt. He starts singing again to find solace. He goes to the sea and shouts Sejal, remember her. Harry finds Sejal in Europe one day but it is not clear if she is married or not but Harry don't approach her. He continue his journey and the movie ends..
Madaari (2016)
Better Avoided !!!
Not sure why people are rating this movie so high. There is nothing new in the movie and the film falls flat in its second half as well as the climax. Indian cinema have produced much better films in the past where the common man stands against the corrupt government, be it A Wednesday, Nayak or Hindustani among others.
Mumbai Meri Jaan was much better film directed by Nishikant Kamat's that depicts the life of a common man and how it gets affected by external scenarios.
Also, lately the films directed by him like Force, Rocky Handsome they aren't something which surprise you or you feel great about them. He was able to do justice with the remake of Drishyam though..
Coming back to this film, Irrfan tries to do justice with his role but the story doesn't holds your attention for much long.
Better Avoided !!!
Airlift (2016)
Don't expect too much. It's not a Baby or Argo!!
The plot had so much to offer but the makers were not able to capitalize on it. They just narrated how Indians were evacuated from Kuwait when it was invaded by Iraq. Performances, sets and camera work is first grade but the screenplay doesn't hold your attention. You never get tensed about the whole situation, can't remember if there were any edge of the seat moments. The movie was just not as intense as you expect when you go to watch a movie that deals with the backdrop of crisis during a war.
But still I would say it's good effort overall and deserves a watch. It will make you feel good about the country when there is so much negativity going around.
