Sous la Seine (2024)
30% Shark / 70% Educational Film on Global Warming
Why can't we just dive into a cheesy horror flick and have fun anymore? Instead, we're bombarded with messages about our impact on the planet throughout the entire movie. If I want to learn how to help the environment, I'll watch a documentary!
Frankly, the trailer was better because it showed what we actually wanted to see. They avoid mentioning the global warming plot in the trailer because they know it would lose a large audience who just want to enjoy a movie. Remember when we could do that?
"Under Paris" had potential but needed a more realistic plot, better character development, a stronger script, and more even pacing. Next time, make the movie you got us excited about in the trailer, and you'll have a summer shark flick worth watching again and again.
The Spirit of Haddonfield (2018)
Excellent Horror Short
A great deal of passion and heart was clearly put into the making of this well done homage. Loved every attention to detail.
Gray Matter (2017)
Instant Classic!
This short was a total surprise that checked off all the right boxes and provided all the nostalgic feels from the horror movies I've loved since I was a kid. I was overtaken by not only the visuals and practical effects, but the incredible attention to detail and a trove of Easter eggs throughout. It's an excellent adaptation with Larry Fessenden front and center being the gem of a character actor that he is. Shorts are a special art form all within itself with the horror genre and this one nails it deserving high praise and repeat viewings.
