Thanamalvila Kollek (2020)
Read this before you watch
Although Thanamalwila had become widely popular for growing "grass" in the recent times, this series has nothing to do with it. This story is filled with symbolism in many instances. The systematic injustices all Sri Lankan's still has to face to this date is very accurately depicted as well.
The entire series is available on YouTube via ITN Sri Lanka channel but in some episodes, parts of the dialogue is muted due to copyright violations. Search the same episode on YouTube and you'll be able to find the same episode under a different uploader without any muted parts.
P.S. the YouTube ITN playlist creator is a careless person who mixed up the episode sequence in reverse order. Hope they'll correct it soon
Sidney Hall (2017)
Another underrated movie
As I'm writing this review on June 7th 2020, it has a rating of 6.9 out of 8,815 IMDb contributors. If this movie can be reached out to at least 12,000 I'm sure it will reach a 7.2 rating at least because it contains the key ability to keep the viewer grasped to know what happens next. Halfway along the movie it might get confusing for someone who likes to figure out and predict what happens at the end of the movie without skipping ahead (since I'm one of them I can vouch for this confusion) but this movie has an unexpected ending.
Although there were some overrated items in the movie like even being nominated to a certain "prize" in literary world under the circumstances overall the movie was directed and presented in a very appealing manner.
If you are reading this review before watching the movie, just stop reading the rest of the reviews and watch the movie first and rate it afterwards because this right here is an underrated movie which needs more attention :)
The Professor (2018)
You're going to leave all it behind
If you're going to watch this movie, put yourself in a terminally ill patient's shoes. This movie is divided to chapters representing each stages of how a patient might face stages of grief.
So far I've rated more than a 1000 movies within a number of years but this movie skyrocketed to the top because it made me ask a important question.
"What would I do if my days are numbered?"
10 Years (2011)
One of the best underrated movies I've ever seen.
One of my friends suggested me this movie and I've got to say, it made my school years rush back into memory as I was watching it. I personally think that movie is really underrated by users due to under popularity issues. If you are hoping to watch a movie with some of your old buddies (perhaps on a reunion), I'd totally recommend to you this movie. It'll be somewhat of a mellow one throughout but it will be enjoyable and it would certainly be able to bring back those high school memories. Even if it seems like too much information is stacked up into your brain so fast in the beginning, keep on watching till the end because all the pieces fit in nicely together to set up one of the most beautiful movies that you might stumble upon.
P.S. The soundtracks are just placed beautifully!
