So Funny!
29 April 2005
From the first few minutes, up until the end of the film, I was laughing... hard. The characters are definitely amusing (though a bit off), and all of the hang-ups they face along the way just add to the humour. Yes, there are parts of the film which can be quite sad, especially if one can relate in any way to them, but by and large, this is a very funny film that is definitely worth the DVD rental. The violence is comical, the struggles are comical, even the arguments are comical. They really did a good job with the casting and the writer did an excellent job with the script. I am usually not a fan of Danish films (even though I live in Denmark), but this film is the exception. It's a definite must see, no matter where in the world one happens to live.

What a Waste
29 April 2005
This is, by far, one of the worst films I have ever seen in my life. It wasn't even worth the cost of DVD rental. There was absolutely NO plot as far as I could see and the entire thing looked like it was filmed by some kid with a camcorder. The inconsistencies in the film were so obvious, that it ceased being fun to look for them about 20 minutes into the film. The acting was terrible (and that's putting it kindly.) The special effects were obvious and very poorly done. The scare factor? The only scary thing about this film is that it was NOT actually something a kid with a camcorder did with a group of friends in his or her city as a means of passing the time on a boring day.

Don't waste time on this.. there are so many other films out there to see..

Utterly Moving
11 September 2003
When I first saw this film, my stepfather's mother had taken me to see it with her. I wasn't too interested at first, but the more I watched it, the more enrapt I became.

A lot of the story (except for the child sexual abuse) really hit home with me and I could very much identify with the domestic abuse going on in Selena's youth because at the time, I was living in a household where my stepfather was treating my mother in very similar ways.

I remember cheering in the cinema when I saw what really happened to Joe on the day of the eclipse...

All I have to say really is that this film deserves 10/10 and that it is a very worthwhile watch. However, if you are living in or have lived in a home where abuse was commonplace, it might really bring out some of those raw emotions that one hides so well.

Definitely Worth the Watch
25 August 2003
I had never heard of this film before I had picked up a copy of Stephen King's Danse Macabre and read his thoughts on it (along with a long list of "classic" horror/sci-fi books and films also in the book.) So, I decided one day to go forth and get this film and watch it for myself. It is just plain awesome! The original is certainly where it's at.
