The Robe (1953)
Must watch every Easter!
It's amazing to us that the film makers of the 50s-60s never compromised on portraying Biblical truths on the Big Screen. Current Christ followers should RISE UP and confirm the need for wholesome, truthful depictions of Bible stories and truths.
A Spinal Tap Reunion: The 25th Anniversary London Sell-Out (1992)
Great memories!
I was at this show with several friends at the end of our musical tour through the U.K. We read about the concert on our flight from LAX and got tickets as soon as we landed. Originally scheduled for one night, it sold out so quickly they had to add a 2nd night.
Was great to sing-a-long with "Big Bottoms" and other classic Tap hits. I bought the LaserDisc as soon as it came out in '93 and have enjoyed it several times. It is longer than the current DVD release and so much fun to see my 'seat' in the long shots!
A great follow up to the classic film... if you've not seen the original, watch it first and then settle down for Spinal Tap playing "At Home" in the U.K.
Elephant Parts (1981)
Classic!
I saw a clip of this before it was officially released at the Audio Engineering Society Convention in Anaheim, May 1981. It was amazing to see on a large projection screen and hear it in stereo, especially since it wasn't a film, but specifically produced for TV!
I bought one of the first Beta-HiFi tapes when it was finally released in stereo and wore it out. My kids grew up singing along with "Sunset Sam" and others, including memorizing the "Pirate Alphabet". We have so many great memories of this, and am so glad I was part of NARAS when they honored Mr. Nesmith with his award as the first music video!!
If you can find it... buy it!!
