23 February 2018
^title

For the love of god, they ended that show with a massive cliffhanger. Why did they even make this one when you already had a great show (universe) ready for revival??!! what the actual...?!

The night is DARK and full of terrors...
16 December 2017
Forgive me my shameless pun, I though it fitting because this show does have many terrors. But not only good ones...

The acting is decent, and since it's german you really don't need to expect any humour, straight to the point and get on with it. And that's also one of its main problems. The show dedicates very little amount of time to get to know the characters. You get minimal backstory but just enough so you can at least follow the plot of the movie.

The cinematography however is brilliant, it sets the tone and immersed me into the town as a viewer. If it weren't for that horrendous synth sound that's constantly blaring into my earlobes I might have given his series a 6.

This show was very confusing to watch, not only does it keep piling mistery on mistery, but also riddles upon riddles hidden behind riddles revealed only by completing another set of riddles. The jumping forth between all the characters didn't make it any better either. I felt like I was speed dating all of them. There were too many characters introduced in this series; especially with the nature of the plot they had going on. I had a very hard time keeping track of all the names of the characters and often confused them with eachother.

The show does a good job with explaining the major misteries established. As a viewer you're than able to piece together the puzzle slowly and perhaps pick up on some of the sub text hidden within the characters dialogues.

The serie does not have a satisfying ending however.. (don't worry I won't spoil)

Everything you've been explained is getting tossed out of the window. You can't help but feel that all of this was rather pointless. This show's biggest strenght is also it's biggest weakness. The show provides layers and layers of mistery on top of eachother, and I'm afraid the show won't be able to provide an answer for most of them. It's clear they are setting up for multiple seasons, but series with a bit of si-fy tend to get cancled often after 2 seasons. It looks like this has the potential to be a second LOST debacle.

Anyway... My recommendation is this: You should watch it, just try not to add any logic to anything you see on screen. Watch it in its own merrit and treat every bit of info thrown at you like it's logical in the serie's universe and you'll be fine.

One word: A-MAZING
17 November 2017
Do not be fooled by the many reviews here claiming the 1974 version was better. They are usually written by people oppose any kind of innovation and are forever stuck into the past. Everything before the 90's = good everything else that comes after = bad, I'm sure you know that kind of mind set we all have that one grandparent.

This movie is a masterpiece. The acting was impeccable, the story was mind blowing, the setting...god the setting made it all fit together. This movie makes the viewer follow the investigation step by step, evidence by evidence and even gives room to the viewer to conjure his/her own case. The combination of the different accents and backstories, who were incredibly well done by the way, gives a great sense of immersion.

Rarely have I ever been so amazed by a story such as this one, and the ending... was just perfection. It's a movie I'll definitely be seeing again.

If you have any sense of objectiveness, this remake pillars over the old one by miles and miles. Anything else and you're just in denial honestly.

Weak plot & sub par story
16 November 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Here comes stereotypes: selfish show-boii black dude thinking only about himself when stuff goes south, a blond with the brain capacity of a peanut, dramatic 'still in love with someone else' prude girl, white rich boii pretending to be kind and understanding because he trying get into them pants, quiet pretend to be cool and mysterious brother of rich boii. Within the first 10 minutes of the movie you figure out pretty fast who's playing which role.

The set up is pretty short and weak. The viewer gets thrown into the main plot of the movie pretty much from the start. Minimal exposition; almost no backstory. The setting is interesting but gets overshadowed by the horrible dialogue and acting. I had to watch an episode of 'keeping up with the Kardashians' to make my IQ drop into the single digits in order to keep watching this movie to the end.

The movie suffers from all the old clichés: love triangle, cell phones suddenly not working - cellphones suddenly working but low battery (seriously, does anyone actually charge their batteries before going on a trip?), then there are the ridiculous deus Ex-Machina plot twists in order to create tension and/or advance the plot that makes your eyes roll like a slot machine because of the sheer laziness of the script writing.

The end of the movie was so bad I was fiercely wishing to get my 1.5 hour of wasted time back. You crashed into the sea a few miles of Hawaii but none of your clothes and hair are wet and you all magically floated out of the airplane wreck onto the beach, at the same exact place only few meters apart from each other? Like seriously, no one was injured during the crash, no one drowned? Like what..Poseidon from justice league left the set during his break to come save your asses and drag you to shore?

Liar (2017–2020)
3/10
I'm just getting tired of it to be honest
26 September 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Truth be told I went into this series thinking it's going to be another one of these series that's going to try and shove this warped/bastardized version of Hollywood feminism down the viewer's throat. Because the main theme here is rape and it's concequences.

***This review contains spoilers***

Watching the first episode I was hooked enough to give it at least the benefit of the doubt. And sure enough the first episode got me intrigued and left me wondering who was the liar.

Then episode 2 happened... basically proving me right all along. It's exactly one of those series. It's almost like the scriptwriting office got overrun by mouth-foaming SJW and Feminazis half way through the writing of episode 2 and took over from there on out.

The detectives, I don't even know how they got through the academy. They don't even ask the obvious questions. Somehow the man is already guilty of his crimes even though there is no evidence whatsoever and her story is shaky at best. It's no coincidence that it's also the female detective that's absolutely sure he did it.

But the woman breaking into the man's house, asking her ex boyfriend (who is a cop) to see if he can do anything to get the man's house searched for substances by a drug squad. Which is clearly obstruction of the investigation. The detectives know about it! They even mention it! For the love of god man! There is a man accused of rape and it's by no means even sure he actually did it. But the woman who is actually guilty of entering the man's house without permission, getting his house searched behind the detectives back and she's not even going to get arrested for that? And lets not forget the fact that she posted the allegation on social media, basically dragging his name through the mud without any tangible evidence just because she can.

Now I'm getting to the best part... which basically sealed the deal for me. During episode 2 or 3, can't remember which one there is a scene where the show gives you statistics: Every year in the UK there are 87000 rape allegations and only 5,4% of them actually turn into convictions. What the show doesn't say and mention is How many of those allegations are fake?

If you are writing a show, which the whole premise of said show is the ambiguity of a rape allegation of this nature one would expect to provide the viewer with ALL the statistics, not only those which are carefully selected by entitled feminazis and SJWs in order to put forward their own agenda.

This show wants you to feel sorry for even considering that woman never falsely accuse men of rape. That doesn't happen! don't mention it you masogynist! This show wants you to believe that men in high positions (a highly qualified surgeon in this case) are rapists and that you shouldn't date one. This show wants you to believe that a female detective knows, she just knows the man is guilty, everything no matter how credibly is of no concern. The man is guilty and I'm going to go to his house and deliver a folder 'the meaning of consent' after telling him no one is going to press charges against him or go to court.

Save yourself these 6 hours and go do something else that's actually worth spending your precious time on.

Dunkirk (2017)

Potential, but it didn't deliver
19 August 2017
As someone who's very much interested in history, watching this movie was a nobrainer. The trailer looked promising and got me pretty hyped up. That being said however, the trailer is the only thing good about this movie.

30 minutes into the movie and I was barely paying any attention to it anymore. It even got as bad as me starting a conversation with my neighbour who shared my opinion about this movie being a snoozefest. Turns out me and my neighbour shared the same holiday destination every year.

Oh Right, the movie... even the action scenes were boring. It didn't even try to convey the desperation of the evacuation; just drop a bomb now and then and make the soldiers faceplant the beach when it happens.

No sorry the movie completely missed the boat... ha ha ha...ha.. get it? Because dunkirk?
