Bearable but very predictable
This movie for me is something that is bearable to watch, but also at the same time very predictable from pretty much the start of the film.
I rented this movie out of the local shop after being very interested by the synopsis at the back. I have to say that my expectations were not met.
From the start, when the professor was debating with his student (that one student who was the only one he seemed to talk to) the average viewer would have realised then that she was the one who was killing all these people. This was confirmed for me when he gave her the keys to the storage room.
For me this film is bearable, something to watch if you are feeling bored on a rainy day, but it certainly wouldn't be in a list of "movies to have a few beers with mates and sit and watch" because while there are is an occasional funny moment, the movie is ruined by being far far far too predictable.
Rating the movie out of 10, I would give it a 3 out of 10. One that was bearable only because I was bored. I certainly wouldn't watch it again.
The Ghost Writer (2010)
Suspense + fantastic acting = superb movie
Never before has a movie captivated me more than the ghost writer. It has it all, Suspense, romance, fantastic acting throughout and even a bit of horror thrown in.
Ewan McGregor was a fantastic pick for the main character. He has a mysterious aura about him and I have never seen him in a bad movie before. Also with a supporting cast of Kim Catrall and Pierce Brosnan mixed in with the direction of Roman Polanski, I just knew this film was definitely one to watch.
What I love about a movie is not knowing how the movie will end. I dislike knowing what's going to happen halfway through a film, it kills a movie for me. This movie kept me guessing all the way to the end and even had me thinking about it well after the final credits were run.
This movie for me is definitely a high number. I would give it a 9. The reason I am not saying 10 is because I feel it only caters to one or two demographics. I couldn't for example watch this film with most of my mates because politics and films with suspense and ones that make them think are not really their cup of tea. I LOVE them though.
Taking everything into account this is definitely a film I could watch by myself again and again, a classic.
