Terminator: Dark Fate (2019)
Alt Timeline T3, disregard the negative buzz around this movie, see it for yourself
I'm not a huge fan of this franchise although its first two entries were definitely it's best. However going into this, knowing it was gonna do an alternative timeline from T2 and be it's own thing disconnected from T3-5. I was both perplexed at the start and satisfied at the end by where they went. Felt like I could see the influences from the other 5 movies here. It's a Terminator movie people. Future AI goes bad, humans fight back, time travel to stop humans fighting back. Didn't mind them going through that basic setup of T2 again. Really enjoyed all of the characters, their interactions and the threat still felt challenging enough. Didn't have a problem with the actions or CGI and I hope they make a T7 (alt timeline T4) I'd definitely add this to my collection and want to watch it again, unlike T4 & T5.
Shôjo kakumei Utena: Adolescence mokushiroku (1999)
Beautiful movie but it's flown over my head
Just the opening shot of this movie shows you right out the gate that your gonna be treated to a wonderful looking anime. Wow. Just seeing those bells at the beginning and the detail on them had me super excited for the art. Wasn't disappointed at all. However once you actually get into the story, if your a more surface level entertainment person, I imagine you'll get lost. I've watched the series so I was able to use that a basis for the lack of depth on pretty much any of the characters but if this was your first introduction, the shallowness might leave you scratching your head. There's a really good theory/review on this site that I can totally see, now, after reading it but this mind game of a movie just wasn't enjoyable for me. Definitely enjoy the increased attention to the romantic part of the show but it was all just super rushed and over my head. Watch the series then come watch this with a mind used to deep sea diving in movies. Was very surprised that they managed to throw in the cow part from the series into the movie...Not sure why you'd do that and waste minutes in a film but they did.
LEGO Marvel Super Heroes: Black Panther - Trouble in Wakanda (2018)
Odd continuity but enjoyable
Pros:
Black Panther fighting along several heroes
Some humor
Updated looks for the characters
Cons:
Thanos.. Where is his magic gauntlet? If no golden hand with stones, how is he shooting magic beams?
Black widow, barely recognized her
Hulk Buster armor both exceptionally powerful and one hit killed.
Thanos being repowered with vibranium after initial fight..huh what? Also he seriously took that much damage? Really didn't seem like it.
Anyways if you just want a short Lego Black Panther + extras film (TV episode?) this is enjoyable. Try not to get tripped up with where it falls in any particular story line. I'd watch it again but I don't need to own it.
