Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021)
6 stars for me
Good time-pass movie. My 12 year old enjoyed it. The parents spent time with their kid and had a few good laughs. Get the picture? :) Got rather kiddish moments.
Taken 2 (2012)
sorry Liam...
i was totally mislead by the 8.2 rating when i went ahead and purchased the tickets. however, i was glad to know that by the time i'm writing this review, the rating was down to 7.7
this is a pure rental.
the only reasoning i can come up with on how this got to be rated 8.2 was if someone had a numerous number of people to rate it that high. kept waiting throughout the movie for the movie to pick up, and even waited till the end credits for the action to kick in. never happened. not even while i'm back home and writing this down. and i'm being asked to put down a minimum of 10 lines before i can post this review. so i guess i'm taking time to set the record straight about the misleading high expectations from this movie.
sorry Liam... not one of your best: weak plot, okay action, rent it... skip the cinema tickets on this one.
Kaal (2005)
All Hype
You know how you end up going to the movies because the star cast was intriguing, and then you walk out of the theatre wondering why you were led on by your pathetic intuition that the star cast might make the movie a real hit? This is one of them. Cept, i only went because of misleading information that the movie was great. Horrible. Names like "Shahrukh", "Karan Johar", "Malaika" were simply used to lure in the crowd... for a complete disappointment.
The movie is not scary in the least bit. It relies on the sudden increase in volume of screaming monkeys, birds, bananas, and what-have-you. Fear Factor? Yeah right...
Overall, a badly compiled movie with scenes from "Final Destination" (the eerie method by which people get knocked off the stupid script), "The Ring" (the dilapidated well), "The Ghost and The Darkness" (the malnutritioned tigers)... the list could go on, but i was busy yawning, and joining other people's conversation during the movie.
I wont stop you from going to the movie. But i would definitely like to point out that it's better off rented, that too when you want a complete "time-pass" movie.
Black (2005)
Definitely Worth A Watch
I heard mixed reviews of the movie (mostly positive), but could only comment on this once i had seen the movie for myself. The movie is well scripted, the two main characters are well developed, and the backdrop setting of the movie is something of a subtle visual treat.
People have also mentioned that no mention was made to Helen Keller. Not so, as Sanjay had clearly given credit to the same right in the beginning of the movie.
Amitabh and Rani had an on-screen chemistry which i cannot compare to any recently released movie which i have seen. What surprised me was the ability of Amitabh to get into his role as the teacher. This role most definitely stands apart from anything he has done in the past.
Overall, Black does create a niche for itself in the Bollywood arena. As usual, there is no lack of critics who would jump at the first opportunity to dismiss the movie as a complete rip-off. However, i would most definitely recommend Black to individuals who are looking for a movie which is different from the usual standardised plots of Bollywood.
