Perry Mason: The Case of the Captain's Coins (1962) Season 5, Episode 17

The other side of the coin

****SPOILERS*** Incredibly complected and utterly ridicules Perry Mason, Raymond Burr, episode about this coin that can prove which of the Faraday brother Tom or John rescued a Malayan Prince in 1871 from drowning when he fell off his royal yacht during a combination typhoon and volcanic explosion. During all these years after this historic event it was John's descendants who reaped the rewards from the Malayan Royal Family in being credited in saving the Prince's life. That's until writer Philip Andrews, Jeremy Slate,found evidence that it was in fact Tom not John who saved the prince's life but didn't get credit for it because he Tom died of his trip back to the states in 1871!

You have to be an Einstein to figure out what's going on here with the link to proving who in fact saved the prince's life being a commemorative coin with the engraving of the person who did save him on it. Which happens to be Tom not John who got the credit as well as fame and money for doing it. For this to be a Perry Mason episode the person designated to be murdered was old Uncle Ben Farady,Herbert Rudley, who was the president of the highly successful Farady Shipping Company and grandson of John Farady. And it was Philip Andrews who was seen leaving Uncle Ben's house just moments before he was discovered murdered who was charged with the crime! With Perry defending Andrews the main piece of evidence to clear him is the what's now missing coin with Tom Farady's image engraved on it. Even though if you think about it what the heck would that have to do in proving Andrews innocence anyway?

****SPOILERS**** In the end we get some comfort in knowing that the commemorative coin have nothing at all to do with Uncle Ben Farady's murder. It was just a red herring planted in the story to keep our minds off to who really murdered Unce Ban and the reasons why he or she did it. You see while all this coin business was going on Uncle Ben was being robbed blind behind the scenes of his shipping company stock and the person doing it was using all this confusion in who save the Malayan's prince's life, Tom or John, as cover for his actions. That's until Uncle Ben found out about it and ended up getting murdered by him!

Alfred Hitchcock Presents: Enough Rope for Two (1957) Season 3, Episode 7

Buy yourself a key to a second hand truck!

***SPOILERS*** The total arrogance of these two double crossing swines has no bounds in this Alfred Hitchock episode. The two Madge and her boyfriend Maxie, Jean Hagen & Steve Brodie, had set up their partner in crime Joe Kedzie, Steven Hill, to take the rap for a $100,000.00 bank robbery they participated in. It was Joe who was left holding the bag and getting caught and convicted for the crime that he spent 10 years and four days behind bars in the joint San Quentin Prison. The drawback in all that for the two was that Joe hid the cash where they couldn't find it in the middle of the Mojave Desert. With Joe now released from prison both Madge & Maxie expect him to lead them to the money and better yet murder him after they get their greedy hands on it. But unknown to them Joe has other plans and those plans are to get even with what they did to him in setting him up and now wanting to double cross him for a second time. This time around Joe will be the one doing the double crossing.

A bit tricky as well as surprise ending in that Joe in fact trusted his partners in knowing what their up to and capable of doing. Still playing along with them in finding the stolen cash and splitting it with them the two-Madge & Maxie-dding't seem to realize what he had planned for them. Thinking that they had the winning cards both Madge & Maxie let Joe live long enough to show them where he hid the money but Joe turned the tables on them just when they though their plan was to succeed.

***SPOILERS*** It was Madge who got the worst of it when Joe, after dispatching Maxie, allowed himself to get trapped in the bottom of the mine shaft in the middle of the desert where he hid the cash by Madge cutting the rope where he lead her to it. With Madge now having all the $100,000.00 to spend on herself what she dding't have was the key to the jeep to drive her out of the desert that Joe secretly kept on him where she's now facing a certain and agonizing death. And the only way she can get the car key is to join Joe at the bottom of the mind shaft where she left him to die!

No Way to Treat a Lady (1968)

The Unforgiven

***SPOILERS*** Like its title "No Way to Treat a Lady" it's a film about how not to treat a lady. That with its star Rod Steiger as theater owner and half a** art food & wine connoisseur Christopher Gill going around New York City in a number of disguises murdering single elderly ladies by getting access to their apartments. What are the reason for Gill's strange and murderous behavior is soon discovered by NYPD Jewish cop Morris "Moe" Brummel, George Seagel, almost by accident. It's Moe's annoying and overly pesky Jewish mother Mrs. Brummel, Eileen Hacket, who's always on his case in Moe not making something of himself like his big brother, or my son the doctor as Moma calls him, who's making more money in one day that he's making in two months. Despite the film being about a serial killer on the loose the interaction between, which at times is hilarious, Moe & Moma is by far the most interesting and entertaining scenes in the entire movie.

Moe for his part gets involved with the neighbor of Gill's first victim Mrs. Mulley,Martine Bartlett, the pretty Kate Plamer, Lee Remick, who was the only witness to her murder. It the publicity hungry Gill who was greatly impressed with Det. Moe's description of him as being a master criminal who soon began contacting him about his latest or soon to be latest murder. With Gill's string of murders going up to five or possibly six, I'm not quite sure, victims he decides to change his MO, mode of operation,in targeting Kate . It's Kate who's now having a serious romance with lucky Moe who now became his #1 rival for Moe's attention. It's here where Gill screws himself up by coming out in the open and getting very personal with Det. Moe in trying to make his girlfriend Kate victim # 6 or #7.

****SPOILERS**** You an soon spot a very strange connection between both Det. Moe Brummel and serial murderer Christopher Gill and it has to do with their mom's who for the most part dominated and controlled their lives. And it was abused son Moe who didn't take his Moma's words, in what a failure he was, all that seriously who was able to lead a more or less normal life. But in Gill's case in not living up to his mother, who was a famous stage actress, high expectations of himself he completely freaked out. Not being able to take out his rage and frustration on his long deceased mom Gill took them out against the next best thing or persons. Those helpless and elderly ladies who reminded him of her whom he ended up murdering.

Slander (1957)

What comes around goes around

****SPOILERS**** On target and at the same time shocking movie about how scandal sheets can destroy those whom they feed on and how a brave father Scott Martin, Van Johnson, who together with his wife Connie, Ann Blyth, refused to give into their blackmail were the victims of one of them. Just when puppeteer Scott Martin got a big brake in getting top billing on a nationally syndicated children's TV show the publisher of the popular yellow rag "Real Truth" Magazine H.R Manley, Steve Cochran, got hold of a ten year old police report that documenting that he served time behind bars for an armed robbery, with a switchblade, the put his victim into the hospital in critical condition. Given a choice by Manley to expose actress Mary Sawyer "America's Sweetheart" whom Scott grew up with on the mean streets of Brooklyn of getting an abortion with his mother preforming the operation Scott decided to take the hit and not reveal what he knew about her to Manley. What happened next was far worse then even Scott and his wife Connie could have ever imagined.

It was the Martin's 10 year old son Joey, Richard Eyer, who ended up getting taunted by his school mates, in calling his dad a jailbird, so badly and unmercifully that in trying to run away from them ran into the street and got hit by a car killing him. Despite the damage that Manley and his magazine caused he took that tragic event as a gift from heaven,it should have been a gift from hell, to capitalize on the Martin's family tragedy and make big bucks out of it. As it turned out it was Manley's sweet kind and elderly mom, Marjorie Ramboau, who ended up doing the right thing even though it didn't bring Joey back. But in the end it ended up putting an end to H.R Manley and his magazine for good. And also educated the public in how by them supporting Manley's rag by plunking down .25 for it every week they were as guilty as Manley was in Joey's death.

Van Johnson was never better as Scott Martin the grieved father of his son Joey who in trying to protect Mary Sawyer's career ended up exposing himself as an ex-convict and destroying his career instead. It was that noble action on Scott's part that did far worse to him and his wife Connie then what would have happened to Mary Sawyer. And it was Scott's appearance on a national TV news discussion show that exposed that greedy and unscrupulous low life H.R Manley for what he really was. But with Manley more then willing to go the extra yard or dollar in making more blood money out of Joey Martin's tragic death instead of putting it behind him was more then his mom Mrs. Manley could take. Who ended up doing the right thing even though it would end up costing Mrs. Manley her freedom.

Perry Mason: The Case of the Jaded Joker (1959) Season 2, Episode 18

I don't dig slick chicks trying to goof me off Daddy-O

***SPOILERS*** Thre are two major things that happen in this hip Perry Mason, Raymond Burr, episode. One with Perry's personal secretary Della Street, Barbara Hale, almost out of thin air asking Perry to explain to her what the word Snook, a helpless dope in Yiddish, means? And last but not least the straight laced Lt. Tragg, Ray Collins, going native or hipster as he lets his hair down in telling off Della that he won't let a slick chick like her goof him off in that despite he's now pushing 70 has become one of the "Cool Ones" of the hip 1950's Beat Generation.

Ther's nothing cool about what happened in promoter Charles Goff, Harry Jackson , being found murdered in his office by his secretary Isa Hiller,Mary LaRoche, with his skull fractured and shot for good measures. Goff had screwed comedian Danny Ross played by country & western singer Frankie Laine out of staring in his upcoming TV show that Danny broke his back in promoting for him. As it turned out it wasn't Danny who was arrested in Goff's murder but his good friend the jockey size, 4 foot 10 inch and 95 pound, Freddie Green played by Walter Blake who's fingerprints were found on the murder weapon. In him being a big fan of Danny Ross Perry commits himself to defend his friend Freddie even though he admits to him, with a jail guard listening in, that he in fact did murdered Goff. Perry seeing right through Green's fake confession finds out that Goff wasn't killed by the bullet that came from Freddie's gun he was already dead. But was murdered some time earlier with a tire iron that split him skull open!

****SPOILERS**** There was no courtroom scene here with the killer breaking down under Perry's cross-examination and admitting his guilt. That took place in the hip and with it beatnik espresso bar the "Purple Wall" where Groff's murderer in beatnik lingo laid out the reasons why he offed Goff in him being too square to be fit in a round world! The only way his murdered explained to Perry how he could be able to fit in is by being whacked and then reborn gain. It took some time with Perry later explaining what all this hipster talk was all about for anyone to figure out just what Goff's killer in plain English meant!

***SPOILERS**** War hero family man and pillar of the community Paul James, Adrian Hough, seems to have everything going for him until one evening while starting his car he's shot and burned, with the car set on fire, to a crisp by an unidentified assailant dressed all in black and wearing what looked like a black fisherman's cowboy hat. As the police start looking for who would murder such a great fine and wonderful individual who didn't have an enemy in the world it turns out that his wife and now grieving widow Beth James, Jamie Luner, is the prime suspect in her husband's murder. It's the cop in charge in the case of James' murder Det. Rhodes, Belinda Metz, who soon uncovers a whole load of evidence pointing straight to Beth as her husband's killer.

Arrested and sent to the the Fenton court womens lock-up Beth later makes her escape when no one was looking during an electoral fire at the courthouse. Beth going undercover and in disguise is now more then determined to find her husband's murderer. Not just to clear herself but get her step-daughter Robin, Taylor-Anne-Reid, to see that she in fact didn't murder her beloved daddy Paul James. There's also insurance investigator Jerry Callhone, Chrisian Bocher, who also smells in that there's something very fishy in how conveniently Beth was connected or framed in her husband's murder and that smell eventually leads to this cabin outside of far off Indian Lake.

***SPOILERS*** As we and Beth soon find out her husband was deep into debt to this mob loan shark Pete Bronski, L. Harvey Gold, who fronted as a used car dealer who owed him some 800 G's that he couldn't pay him back. Bronski and his assistant and #1 underling Doug Zwick, John Tench, were putting the squeeze on John and possibly had him murdered when he couldn't come up with the cash. It was at Indian Lake that Beth got the surprise of her life when she finally confronted her husband's supposed murderer. Now with his cover blown he ends up trying to murder Beth to keep her from revealing his identity to the police. It was Jerry Calhoun who suspected him as being the killer right from the start who finally put an end to his both disappearing as well as reappearing act.

Perry Mason: The Case of the Violent Vest (1961) Season 4, Episode 24

I've got some bad habits. But shooting strangers isn't one of them

****SPOILERS**** Over the top in the number of red white & blue as well as purple & green herrings in it as well as below the radar in how little sense it makes Perry Mason, Raymond Burr, episode in it having to do with the soon to be crowned 1961 Miss Débutant Grace Halley, Myrna Fahey. It's Grace who ends up getting indited in her biggest supporter and big wig in the Miss Débutant contest love sick old man Herman Albright's, Eric Rhodes, murder. Herman has been on the outs with his old lady Ida, Borothy Green, in how she's gambling away his money in the casinos all around town. Herman is planning to dump Ida Herman in order to have her replaced with the much younger and very lovely Grace. But the trouble is that she's not at all interested in him. Never letting up for a moment Herman gets Grace to meet him at the Trinidad Bar to make plans to elope to Mexico and get hitched there. Even though Grace is secretly married to photographer Buddy Frye, Joe Cronin, which if found out would have her disqualified from the Miss Débutante contest.

Instead of meeting Grace at the Trinidad Bar old & conservative Herman, all decked out in a 1960's swinger outfit, is approached by this young chick young enough to be his granddaughter Vicky Dolan, Rosmary Eliot. Vicky who after striking up a conversation with Herman who buys her a drink disappears with the silly old fool, who should have known better, into the night. The next day Herman is found shot to death as Vicky evaporated into thin air! As for Grace who showed at the Trinidad Bar and was secretly photographed there she's now in hot water in being arrested in Herman's murder. It soon comes out that Herman's boss in the Miss Débutant contest the squeaky clean Walter Lebaron, Hyder Rorke, had given Herman a bank check for a cool $5,0000.00 for what seemed like to pay for his honeymoon in Mexico with Grace Halley! The honeymoon was over before it started with the groom Herman Albrght murdered and the bride Grace Halley charged with the crime. But with Perry Mason coming to Grace's defense you just knew that the sparks will soon be flying hot & heavy but as for the story it will continue to keep on going downhill.

***SPOILERS*** As Perry soon brings out Herman's murder was a simple case of mistaken identity on his murderers part. It was in fact innocent bystander Walter Lebaron who was supposed to be targeted. It also turned out that the innocent Lebaron wasn't that innocent at all. He not only knew that he was targeted for a hit job but used Herman as a human shield in order to protect himself. That's by letting Herman wear his swinging cloths, including his jazzy spotted vest, for his date with Grace Halley which in fact sadly turned out to be a date with death for him!

Perry Mason: The Case of the Foot-Loose Doll (1959) Season 2, Episode 15

You'd better see a man named Perry Mason

***SPOILERS*** Poor confused and totally clueless Millie Crest, Ruta Lee, had better see Perry Mason, Raymond Burr, in order to get her head straighten out in just what kind of trouble that she now finds herself in. It's bad enough that Millie's faïence Bob Wallace, John Bryant, has framed her with him embezzling $9,000.00 from the company that they work for and also checked out on her, to possibly South America, on her wedding day. She also gets involved with a US senator the honorable Harriman Baylor's, Barton Maclane,son the Alaskan bound Johnny, James Kirkwood Jr, who's reportedly to have gotten her pregnant out of wedlock. But Millie is now also then prime suspect in insurance agent Carl Davis' murder. Not bad for a small town girl from Marshall City visiting the big swinging and glittering town of of L.A.

It was Millie's big mistake of taken on the identity of the killed in a car accident Fran Driscoll, Helene Stanley, that started the ball rolling against her. It was in fact Driscoll who carjacked Millie at gun point which lead to her losing control of the car in her struggling with Millie for the gun and falling down an embankment killing her. How Senator Baylor got involved in this royal mess was his son Johnny that Driscoll was having an affair with whose love letters to her telling Dirscoll what an unfeeling rat his father is that can sink his campaign for re-election before it even starts. And it's those letters, eight of them, that are suspected to be in Millie's possession which their not. It's here where insurance agent Davis comes in trying to shake down Millie whom he like everyone else mistakes from Fran Driscoll. That at first ended with him getting stabbed by an ice pick by Millie Crest and later murdered by what the police suspect is the same person.

****SPOILERS*** It's Millie's .38 cent, that's all she could afford to pay him, lawyer Perry Mason who soon realizes that she's not Fran Driscoll and that the late Fran Driscoll who carjacked Millie isn't her either. Then who exactly is Fran Driscoll and if in fact if she's alive or not? By checking hospital records corresponding with the day Fran Driscoll was supposedly killed Perry comes up with the real live Fran Driscoll which cooks Sen. Baylor chances for re-election. It's also proved in court by Perry that it was the murdered Carl Davis who took the hit, or stab wound, to cover the senator's tracks and his involvement in the murder case. But by far the biggest shock of all was who in fact murdered Agent Davis! And as it turned out Davis' murder had nothing a all to do with any of the many goings on in this very strange and confusing Perry Mason episode.

Perry Mason: The Case of the Shattered Dream (1959) Season 2, Episode 12

Adolph has been gun shy ever since

***SPOILERS*** Perry Mason, Raymond Burr, episode that has some three persons confess to a murder in less then three minutes showing just how hated the murdered diamond dealer and cutter as well as wife deserted Hans Breel, Kurt Kreuger, was. It was Breel who was into some $15,000.00 in gambling losses to Las Vages mob boss Wee Willie Walker, Ted Marcuse, who together his #1 goon Jerry Marlow, Chris Alcaide, gave him just 48 hours to come up with the cash. In trying to come up with the money Breel comes up with this plan to cleve or cut the unmarketable piece of ice "the Pundit Dream" and have it re-cut into dozens of small diamonds made into valuable jewelry that would be worth as much as $100,000.00.

Of course the cagey as well as desperate Breel had other plans for the "Pundit Dream" by switching it with a worthless piece of rock that he shattered in trying to cleve it which later lead to him being murdered. But the strange thing about all this was it wasn't Wee Willie Walker, known to his friends as triple "W", who was charged in having Breel done it. It was in fact his estranged wife that he deserted back in Holland Sarah Warner, Osa Massen, who was as you would expect being at the scene of the crime who was indited in her heel of an husband's murder. Perry Mason coming to Sarah's defense was in fact the person together with his friend private investigator Paul Drake, William Hooper, who discovered Breel's body. That after getting a strange phone call from Breel's next door neighbor and fellow diamond cutter Adolph Beers, Ludwig Stossel, to come over and check out the place!

***SPOILERS*** What soon turned out to be a three ring circus not a trial had what looked like a confused Perry Mason trying to hold things together not just for his client Mrs. Werner but for the prosecuting D.A Hamilton "Ham" Burger , William Talman, who at times looked more confused then anyone else, including Perry, in what was going on in the courtroom. After a number of false alarms or confessions we finally get the picture to who was responsible for Hans Breel's murder. It was in Breel's partner in crime whom he double crossed in the switching of the "Pundit Dream" who in fact did him in. And it wasn't over money at all it was over love!

Perry Mason: The Case of the Borrowed Brunette (1959) Season 2, Episode 13

Lawyers like you get me sick!

***SPOILERS*** What could be called the case of the mysterious garbage can this Perry Mason, Raymond Burr, episode has to do with the murder of Marvin Slater, John De Santis, the man who hired both Eve Martell, Margaret Fields, and her Aunt Agnes Nutly, Shelia Bromley, to impersonate the Lovely Helen Reynolds, Paula Raymond, and live in chaperon. It was the drop dead gorgeous Helen who came up with this bizarre plan to counterbalance her extremely jealous husband Grant, John Stephenson, who was having her followed and checked on by members of the Interstate Detective Agency to see if she was cheating on him. It turned out that the middle man in all this Marvin Slater ended up getting the worst of it in being shot dead and poor Aunt Nutly who's gun was found in a nearby garbage can not far from the murder scene arrested for Slater's murder.

Perry Mason who's defending Mrs. Nulty has to shift through all the garbage in this very puzzling case to get to the bottom or bottom of the garbage can to prove his client's innocent. Whoever murdered Slater dumped the murder weapon, that was later recovered by the police, in the garbage not to really hide it but have it recovered and, with her fingerprints on it, convict Aunt Nutly for Slater's murder. All this garbage comes to a head at trial with Perry Proving that there was no way Aunt Nutly could have planted the murder weapon in the garbage can where it was found! In that it was put there before not after Slater's murder. In fact by leaving it on top of the garbage not bottom where it disrupted the garbage in the can it showed that it was tampered with.

****SPOILERS**** With all the garbage in the case spelled out by Perry it didn't take long for him to reveal who Slater's killer was. He was the person who left a trail of garbage after having murdered Slater that unknowingly lead straight to his front door. And it was Perry Mason who's keen sense of smell lead him to expose Slater's murderer on the witness stand. Getting away from all this garbage the thing that we, the guys watching, were expecting was to find out in this garbage strewn Perry Mason episode just who the lovely and classy Helen was having an affair with. Were told over and over by Helen just what a dreamboat he was and hoped by seeing him we can learn something from the gentleman in how he does it by getting beautiful and and at the same time ice cold, towards us, women like Hellen the wet their panties over him. But sadly enough due to time restrains we were never given a chance to either see or hear from him.

This truly extraordinary man: President Richard Nixon announcement of J Edger Hoover's death May 2, 1972

****SPOILERS*** We get to see actor Lenny DeCaprio play FBI Director J. Edger Hoover from a 24 year old pencil pusher in the US Justice Department in 1919 to a sick and dying 77 year old man trying to hang on to his job as America's "Top Cop" as his good friend columnist Walter Winchell describe and popularized him as in the spring of 1972. In between those two dates Hoover consolidated his power as FBI Director that he became the most powerful and feared man in America. So powerful that no President of the eight that he served under would dare stand up to and challenge him. Hoover did this by amassing tens of thousands of secret files, mostly about their sex lives, on every member of the House Senate as well as Presidents and their cabinet members who would or could ever be a threat to his power. As for Hoover himself we see he wasn't that squeaky clean as he and his admirers or toadies made him out to be.

We get to see that Hoover had a secret life of his own as a closet homosexual that haunted him his entire adult life. Sometimes he couldn't hid the fact that he was gay especially when he got drunk in public together with his gay partner in life Clyde Tolson, Armie Hammer, who was his hand picked second in command of the FBI. Acting with him as he was going on a date with girl or woman Hoover would after a couple of stiff drinks let out his feelings about Tolson in what a soul mate he is to him that caused rumors about the two that were anything but complementary. There's a scene where Hoover in trying to prove to the American public that he's straight telling Tolson that he's planning to marry actress Dorothy Lamuor in order to squelch the rumors abut his gay lifestyle. This shocking revelation on Hoover's part in having Tolson playing second fiddle to Miss. Lamour had him throw a fit and physically attack him back at the FBI's office building. Kissing and later making up with Tolson Hoover after that nasty incident never tried to show any interest in women, in a sexual way, again even if they were a just harmless flirts or put-on. Yet it was a woman Hoover's personal secretary and Girl Friday Helen Gandy, Neomi Watts, that he entrusted with his personal papers as well as secret files that she after Hoover's death had shredded. That was to keep the then US President Richard M. Nixon, Christ Shyer, from getting his hands on them and using the files against his political enemies like Hoover used them against his.

We get to see J.Edger Hoover for what he really was in the movie. A truly extraordinary man like President Nixon describe him but also a very petty insecure and vindictive man as well. There's no doubt that Hoover did a lot to save he US from Communist anarchists in the 1920's and Nazi saboteurs during WWII. He also personally made the FBI the envy of all crime investigating and fighting organizations in the US as well as the world at large. But his Achilles Heel was his very secretive lifestyle as a closet gay. It was that information that the Mafia had proof of in secret audio tape and photographs that compromised his ability, by him being blackmailed, in fighting or even recognizing the Mafia or organized crime for what it was: A major threat to the American way of life. And in J. Edger Hoover permitting it to grow all out of proportions made things far worse for all of us than all the good that he did in protecting the country from both domestic and foreign enemies over his 48 years as FBI Director.

Perry Mason: The Case of the Grumbling Grandfather (1961) Season 4, Episode 27

I didn't ask you if you met him I asked you if you killed him!

***SPOILERS*** Wild and unpredictable, aren't they all, Perry Mason, Raymond Burr, episode with Perry defending young law student David Gideon, Karl Held. David is accused of murdering his secret lover Dorine Hopkins', Patricia Barry, estranged husband Tony Mongomery, Fred Coby, who was both abusing and blackmailing her.The hopelessly in love David just fell into the trap set for him by coming to Dorine's aid when she was smacked around by her husband after handing him the documents and $10,000.00 he demanded from her. The money was to pay off his gambling debts to the mob and the documents were about her connection to David's grandfather J.J Gedion, Otto Kruger, who was paying her off with blackmail money!

David went to Mongomery's home to retrieve the cash & documents that he swiped from Dorine and was bopped over the head from behind and when he finally awoke he found him dead with David now being the #1 suspect in Mongomery's murder. Perry knowing for sure that David was innocent was now involved in trying to find Mongomery's murderer despite all the evidence against his client. What Perry was to discover is that Mongomery's murder was connected to another murder three years ago that of David's Uncle Lucien that had been ruled a suicide! It was in fact David's lover Dorine that lead Perry to Mongomery's murderer by Perry checking out all the facts and her eye witness testimony of her being abused and smacked around by Mongomery just before he himself was murdered. Facts that didn't quite check out and were totally dispelled by Perry during his client's murder trial.

****SPOILERS*** Perry Mason was never better in how he not only slowly uncovered the reasons for Tony Mongomery's murder but in getting the person who murdered him as well as Lucien Gedion three years earlier to break down and confess without even being cross examined by him. It was when Uncle Lucien uncovered an embezzlement scheme at J.J Gedion's law firm that he was whacked or offed ended by the same killer who later murdered Tony Mongomery. The only reason Uncle Lucien's murderer got away with his or her crime was that in it being ruled a suicide that Perry Mason and his friend private investigator Paul Drake, William Hopper, weren't on the case. This time around he wasn't so lucky.

Will the real Duane Jefferson please stand up!

****MAJOR SPOILERS*** You've got to see this Perry Mason, Raymond Burr, episode to see just how far it's script writers would go to get their star Perry Mason into a disastrous mess and have him, with their help, somehow get out of it and at the same time end up smelling like a rose. The whole story makes no sense at all with the alleged murderer Duane Jefferson, Alan Marshal, that Perry is defending making no attempt at all to save himself in the name of chivalry. That by not revealing the name the woman, who's married to someone else, he loves who can prove his innocent! Jefferson had been spotted by fisherman Jack Gilly, Hank Paterson, dumping diamond merchant George Baxter's, Jack Raine, body with a cement block tied around it into L.A Bay. It's that mysterious woman who can prove that at the time he was supposedly spotted by Gilly dumping Baxter's body into the drink that he was having drinks with her at a swanky L.A restaurant 10 miles away.

Perry who wasn't all that eager to take Jefferson's case soon realizes what a mistake he made in how his client acted, like he could't care less about his fate, at his trial. In that in Jefferson's getting convicted and facing the death penalty was about as uninteresting to him as the daily weather report on the planet Pluto. Is this guy crazy or does he want to be convicted of first degree murder just to see, before the lights are turned out on him, the inside of the infamous San Quentin gas chamber before he checked out for good! As we and Perry Mason soon find out Jefferson's actions are even more bizarre then we could have ever imagined. And they lead to Perry losing the case in defending Jefferson who, when found guilty and now possible execution, seem relived of the entire matter! Did Jefferson expect to get a reduced sentences by being found too incompetent or crazy to stand trial as well as being criminally insane? And thus end up being given a life stay in a local mental institution?

****SPOILERS*** In appealing his what seems like mentally unbalanced and suicidal client's guilty decision Perry finally realizes that he's been had all along by this Jefferson guy who, I can only assume from his actions, was trying to take the fall for Baxter's murder in order to have his partners in crime, in stealing $500,000.00 in diamonds off Baxter, to get away Scot-free. And all this was brought out by Perry Mason at the appeals trial by proving just who this Duane Jefferson really is and introducing the person played by Steve Carruthers who for some strange reason never utters a word or even grunt, during his few minutes on screen, whom Jefferson was impersonating!

Perry Mason: The Case of the Married Moonlighter (1958) Season 2, Episode 7

****SPOILERS*** The very ethical and straight laced Perry Mason, Raymond Burr, bends the law a little to get the killer of drunken gambler Frank Curren, Stacy Harris, to confess to his crime by telling him that his fingerprints were found in his victim's car which in fact they weren't. Perry also stiffs his good friend and in house private investigator Paul Drake, William Hooper, by not paying him for his services in that Perry, can you believe it, was dead broke at the time. I would assume after he got the cash he owned Drake Perry paid him or else he would have been brought up for theft of services and lost his license to practice law. As for the person who Perry is defending school teacher diner counterman and part time waiter Danny Harrison, Arthur Franz, he's in no financial position to pay Perry who takes the case on Pro Bono or in plain English for free.

It was Curren who dropped into Lunke's Diner, where the money strapped Danny is moonlights, in order to get himself a sizzling hot bowl of chili after a hot poker game where he ended up winning some $2,000.00. As things turned the drunk and barley on his feet Curren make a spectacle of himself in not liking the service, which from what I could see was excellent, that after making a mess of the place tried to belt the owner Luke Hickey, Jesse White, missing him by about six inches and falling dead drunk flat on his behind. Wih Danny assisting the passed out Curren back to his apartment to dry out he's found the next morning murdered with the $2,000.00 he had on him missing. Indited for Curren's murder Danny is not only facing bankruptcy and his home being for-closed and infant daughter not getting a desperately needed new leg brace for her polio but facing a trip to the San Quentin gas chamber if he's convicted of murder. This guy really has problems.

****SPOILERS**** Perry realizing that Curren's murder was because of the money he had on him checks out all the members of the poker game that he was involved in just before he was whacked. That in Perry thinking that it was because Curren cleaned them out in the game of poker that one or more of them took advantage of his being too drunk to know what's happening to steal the cash off him. And for good measures to keep him from talking put him to sleep for good. As it turned out Perry was half right in that Curren was murdered for the money he had on him. But his killer wasn't a member of the poker game that he was involved in. But in the end CUrren's murderer ended up paying a lot more, life behind bars and possible execution by the state, then any of those who lost to him in what turned out to be a deadly the game of cards.

Perry Mason: The Case of the Guilty Clients (1961) Season 4, Episode 28

****SPOILERS**** After a nasty divorce where he accused his pretty former Argentinian wife Lola, Lisa Gray, for burning to a crisp the couples $6.00 a pound prized aged rib stakes at a barbecue by, after he criticized her in being a lousy cook, dumping them into the burning charcoal Jeff Bronson, Charles Bateman, is hassled by insurance agent Leander Walker,William Mims. Walker wants Bronson to sell him his stock interest in his airplane company for pennies on the dollar. It's then that things start to really go downhill for Bronson. It's Bronson's test pilot Bill Ryder, Guy Mitchell, who's working with Walker behind his boss Bronson's back in sabotaging the new aircraft he's to test that will end up bankrupt his company!

With Bronson's plane, piloted by Bill Ryder, crashing on it's maiden flight his business is now Kaput but things get even worse after that. It's the ex-Mrs Bronson, Lola, who now has a change of heart & mind in being involved with both Bill Ryder & Leander Walker in sabotaging her ex-husband Jeff's Bronson's plane. And in return her getting a big pay off in his company stock options, for $1.00 not .10 a share, for doing it. Lola now want's Ryder to call Jeff and admit what he did despite her also being involved with it and threatens to shoot him if he doesn't. This soon turns into a violent struggle between Bill & Lola for the gun with Bill ,in getting shot, getting the worst of it.

****SPOILERS**** With Perry Mason, Raymond Burr, who was involved in the Bronson divorce settlement now defending Lola in the murder of Bill Ryder it's Lola's ex-husband Jeff who has a change of heart as well. It's then Jeff who tries to take the responsibility of shooting Ryder on himself. In fact it was Jeff who came on to the murder scene and faked Ryder's murder by planting evidence that would lead to straight him. But what both Jeff and Lola didn't realize was that Bill Ryder was actually alive after Lola shot him and dead before Jeff shot him so there was a third party who was the real killer! WoW Wee! It just can't get anymore more confusing then this!

In the end Perry not only gets off both Lola & Jeff, who both already confessed in open court, in the murder of Bill Ryder but also plays Cupid in him gets the two back together as man & wife by the time the Perry Mason episode ended. And yes as for who really murdered Bill Ryder by shooting him before and after Lola & Bill shot him it doesn't really matter any more anyway. By the time that Ryder's killer finally confessed it was more of an anticlimax, with all the surprises that had already happened, to even mildly surprise anyone.

****SPOILERS**** It's when famous crime writer Graydon Jenning, Chris Potter,came to do a book signing in Manchester Vermont Kelly Holden, Shiri Appleby, was eager to see him not to just sign his latest crime novel "The Thrill of the Kill" but to ask him questions about it. In just how he got the idea for its plot since it's so much like her sister Alison's, Dina Di Biase, unsolved murder some three years ago. Jenning is so impressed with Kelly's story that he decided to stay in Manchester and check out all the police reports on Alison's murder to do a follow up to it. This time with her murderer being caught and brought on trial. Uncovering evidence that the local police overlooked Jennings with Kelly's help soon come across a number of men that Alison had sexual relations with one of them being the US Senator of the state of Vermont the honorable Brandon Hartford, Matt Cooke.

It turns out that Sen. Hardford not only had an affair with Alison but kept her in a paid with government funds, so it couldn't be traced back to him, hotel outside Manchester city limits. In Alison's personal diary there were a number of code words describing Sen. Hartford one of them Cicero the name of a Roman Senator from the play Julius Cesar who was involved in Cesar's assassination! Was that a tip off by Alison to what the senator was planning to do to her if she got out of line by revealing their secret relationship to the press if he ever left her! As both Kelly & Jenning start putting the squeeze on Sen. Hartford's relationship with the murdered Alison Holden strange things start to happen to Kelly. Like her being forced off the road and this mysterious looking man,James Kidnie, who turned out to be Sen. Hartford's top aid always tailing her and at one point confronting Kelly and offering a $1000,000.00 pay off to back off her investigation of his boss or else!

***SPOILERS**** It's later that Kelly soon gets wind of who not only had murdered her sister Alison but is also planning to murder her as well. With Jennings back in New York and Kelly all alone in her house the killer suddenly makes his move on her. But what he never expected was Kelly's sister's old boyfriend Hank, Paul Hopkins, showing up unexpectedly when he was just about to off her! What he also didn't expect was that Kelly would be no pushover like her sister Alison was for him to take care of. With unexpected resistance by Kelly and and unscheduled visit by Hank it exposed the murderer to not just who he is but also disrupted his carefully planned timetable to commit his next murder! And most of all caused him to lose his cool that in his desperate and wild attempt to murder Kelly he ended up tripping himself up, or upside down, and thus killing himself!

The Nuts & Bolts of the case

***SPOILERS*** Perry Mason, Raymond Burr, seems to lack his usual dramatic flair in this episode. Maybe because it's involved with the US military-Air Force-and Perry feared that if he got a bit too testy with the brass he'll end up getting drafted and sent to "Nam", South Vietnam, patrolling some Viet Cong infested rice paddy as punishment or retaliation. This case has to do with the brutal beating to death of Capt. Mike Cardwell, Simon Oakland, who was involved in an investigation of possible sabotage of the newly developed Scepter Missile for the USAF.

The irony of all this is that Captain Cardwell was murdered at almost the exact time that the Scepter missile was launched and finally, after some half dozen tries, went into orbit. It didn't take a long for it to be found out that project officer Major Jerry Reynolds, Robert "The Rock" Rockwell, was seen leaving the scene of the murder in his jeep. What's also telling is that there's been bad blood between the two, Capt. Cardwell & Maj. Reynolds, since they were in Korea. And just hours before his being murdered Captain Cardwell and Major Reynolds get into a fight outside the base's officers club where Captain Cardwell was knocked on his butt. It's by putting the two together at the air force base and being involved on different sides of the issue in the Air Force Scepter project sparks were sure to fly! And the person who got the worst of it was the now deceased Captain Cardwell.

***SPOILERS**** Being a good friend of Maj. Reynolds Perry Mason takes up his defense but in a military or, what most people consider, kangaroo court where he can't use his usual and colorful courtroom acrobatics without ending up being thrown into the brig himself.Perry methodically brings out the nuts & bolts in the case which has to do with a bolt that was tampered with to make the Scepter crash the last time before it's successful launching. But the most surprising thing in the case is***MAJOR SPOILER***Captain Cardwell's murder has nothing at all to do with that! It had to do with what he was about to uncover not in any sabotage but misappropriation of money on the project! Which would put an end to it and it's main advocate, who can face jail & financial ruin, far worse then any finding of sabotage could have!

Perry Mason: The Case of the Duplicate Daughter (1961) Season 4, Episode 26

The case of the invisible murder victim

***SPOILERS*** Unique and at the same time utterly ridicules Perry Mason, Raymond Burr, episode with so many sub-plots in it that by the time that we finally find out who murdered lady PI Vera Martell, who's never once seen in the Perry Mason episode, you couldn't care less who murdered her and for what reasons he or she did it. As for Perry himself he's put on the hot seat in withholding evidence in the $10,000.00 that was supposed to be blackmail money. That in keeping Miss. Martell from revealing the truth about Glamis Barlow, Ann Helm, who together with her, I think's that's who he is, step-father Carter Gilman, Walter Kinsella, is accused of murdering Miss. Martell.

Perry having his job of defending both Glamis and Mr. Gilman being an almost impossible task in just how confusing the circumstances of their supposed crime is, the murder of Vera Martell, get's help from the wife and mother of the two defendants Mrs. Muriell Gilman, Kaye Elhardt. That by Mrs. Gilman agreeing to take a lie detector test to see what she knows about her daughter Glamis' past. Vital information which in Perry's mind can reveal the truth about her involvement in Miss. Martel's murder and what exactly she had, in blackmailing Glamis, on her.

****SPOILERS**** As the truth finally comes out about who and for what reasons Miss. Martell was murdered we get this really crazy story about Glamis identical twin sister, a Miss Phyllis Monroe, who's to end up getting a ten million dollar inheritance that Miss Martell uncovered in her investigation. The fact that Mrs. Gilman had no idea of this blackmail attempt on Miss. Martell's part confused things even more! As it turned out the person who did Miss. Martell in was both her lover and co conspirator who had a falling out with her over how much money they should squeeze out of this whole insane plan of theirs. He wanted the ten million dollar inheritance money, or at least half out it, and the penny pinching Miss.Martell only wanted the ten thousand in blackmail money. And it was her who ended up losing out on the deal.

You really have to hand it to Perry Mason in how he got the murderer to finally confess his crime on the witness stand. With all the confusing facts that at times contradicted each other he had to work with Perry just played it cool as if he was reading ,which in fact he was, from a prepared script and got Miss. Martell's murderer to break down and confess. Even though his confession, which made no sense at all, would have never convinced a jury of his guilt anyway!

Girl in Trouble

***SPOILERS*** Somewhat far fetched, in just how naive those in it are, made for TV movie about these three girls in their early 20's taking a trip to the notorious San Diego Mittner Cove for spring brake where anything goes who end up getting themselves good and smashed. And in the case of pretty 22 year old 2nd grade school teacher Emma Norman, Odette Annable, video taped supposedly doing it, having wild and crazy sex, with a number of the students partying there. It's later back home in Prairie Minnesota that a tape of the action is seen on the Internet with Emma looking both drunk and high on drugs moaning and groaning on the beach with an unidentified, his head is turned from the camera, and seemingly very happy and aroused young man.

In no time at all Emma's life is turned upside down losing her job as a teacher as well as having her boyfriend David the Fireman, John Baker, cut off all communications, on the phone & Internet, with her. Among Emma's other problems is her dad's business is torched and she' stalked by this degenerated who after seeing her on the net and how hot she is, and by thinking that she's easy, trying to get very friendly with her as well as getting into her jogging sweat pants. Feeling that she was set up in all this by a group of horny guys back at Mittner's Cove Emma tries to get proof that she in fact is not the girl having sex on the internet porno movie. Something that's so obvious in seeing that it's her head not her body, that's seen having sex on the video, on the tape that it can be proved by anyone not just photographic computer and video tape expert Mr. Raviphamai, Colin Mathura-Jeffree, that she traveled all the way to L.A to have him analyzed.

****SPOILERS*** With no one willing to help her Emma goes on her own doing a little detective work in tracking down those who video taped her without her consent to not only bring them to justice but clear her good name as well. In the end Emma gets justice in her own way but most of all convinces herself that she was a victim not a willing participant in the mess that she got herself into. Even though she had to break the law and an apartment filled with computers video and tape splicing machines to do it.

P.S The movie sadly depicts what's become so common in this computer and technical age in how easy it is to invade someone's privacy and use that information to be spread across the globe via the internet which knows no boundaries and, in those illegally using it, respects no laws.

Perry Mason: The Case of the Torrid Tapestry (1961) Season 4, Episode 23

It's like meeting old friends that you thought had died

****SPOILERS**** Perry Mason, Raymond Burr, does a little detective not legal work to trap the killer of art dealer Leonard Voss, John Holland, who was involved in a massive insurance fraud back in Rio de Janeiro Brazil six years ago. Voss ended up framing Claud Demay, Robert H. Harris, in an arson fire where a number of priceless artifacts including Pattermaker's tapestry "Theseus and the Minotaur" were destroyed. It was six years later that the long lost tapestry suddenly showed up at Perry Helton's pawnshop and bells started ringing all over the art world. Especially in Voss's head who thought that the priceless tapestry was gone forever.

As we and Voss soon find out the tapestry was a fake but copied by just released from a gulag like Brazilian prison Claude Demay who used it to smoke him out of his hole here in the states. That's to get Voss to admit that he in fact not only framed Demay but was responsible for the tapestry getting destroyed back in Brazil. Or that's what we as well as Voss and the person who's destroyed artifacts he had insured Nathan Claver, Conrad Nagel, thought! Of course being a Perry Mason episode someone has to get murdered and it's Voss who ends up being the lucky, so he came leave the show earlier and with a full paycheck, guy or victim. And of course it's everyone favorite fall guy Robert H. Harris as Claude Demay who ends up getting arrested and charged with Voss' murder. Perry feeling that Voss' murder was to cover up for an earlier crime that he was involved in goes back to square one, Rio de Janeiro, to solve it.

***SPOILERS*** As we soon find out that the fire that Voss set and framed Demay for had a lot more backstabbing and sleaziness to it then at first thought! Trying to get it, the insurance money and art pieces, both ways Voss in return got it right in the gut with a letter opener by the person, besides Claude Demay, that he ended up screwing! And it was Perry Mason's neat trick in the courtroom in revealing one of the so called destroyed art pieces, a brass Toa Kwan Buddha, that brought Voss' killer out into the open.

P.S Check out actor Percy Helton as the pawnbroker in this Perry Mason episode who also played the sleazy and greedy pathologist in the Mike Hammer classic "Kiss me Deadly". Percy in his greed was trying to shake down Hammer for a key he found in a woman's body that opened the door to the secret of "great what's it"; The thing that everyone in the movie was getting killed for. Percy instead ended up getting his fingers crushed by a gleeful Mike Hammer who just about had all he could take from him.

***SPOILERS*** Updated version of the Fyodor Dostoevsky crime classic novel "Crime and Punishment" as well as Fritz Lang's 1931 classic crime film "M" but with a major twist in the end. The person committing the crime does get what's coming to him but not the way he and we watching the film expected it to be. Medical student Larry Crain, Peter Cookson, is down to his last dollar and about to be evicted from his boarding house and thrown out of medical school for not being able to pay the tuition. Desperete for cash to pay his bills and stay afloat Larry goes to collage Prof. Stanley, Francis Preriot, who besides teaching medicine is also the school's unofficial loan shark as well.

Things don't go that well with Larry and Prof. Stanley who demands a cut of 20% for every dollar he lends him even before Larry has a chance to pay it back. Talking things over with his fellow students about Prof. Stanley Larry hears that the professor doesn't believe in banks and has all his cash in his apartment. This gives Larry the bright idea of whacking Prof. Stanley and taking his money the next time he sees him to pay him back what he loaned him. Tricking Prof. Stanley to turn his back on him by trying to pawn off a silver ashtray Larry smashes his skull in with a fireplace poker killing him. But as Larry soon finds out the place where Prof. Stanley keeps his cash a steel safe-box isn't that easy to open. And when Larry finally opens it a number of Prof. Sanley's customers, fellow medical students, are banging at his door trying to get a loan from him.

It's all downhill for Larry from then on with after whacking Prof. Stanley in his hast not taking a cent of the what seems like thousands of dollars that was in his safe-box but also freaking out the next day when an article he wrote for a local crime magazine was accepted and him being given a $1,000.00 check for it! There's also the fact that the police are now on the case of Prof. Stanley's murder with Larry feeling that their on to him as well and he'll soon to be arrested for it.

****SPOILERS*** Guilt ridden and at the point of hysterics Larry's consciences starts to take over. With Det. Shaffer, Naston Paiva, seeming to stalk him at every turn and police Captain Burke, Warren William, taking a keen interest in him in the Prof. Stanley murder investigation. Larry now feels for certain that his goose or butt is going to soon be cooked in the state's electric chair. The surprise ending in the movie takes a while to digest in that it come on so unexpectedly that all the characters in it have to be reintroduced to us. That's after Larry gets away Scott-free as an innocent but mentally unstable man the house painter,Earnie Adams, confessed to the murder that he in fact committed!

Perry Mason: The Case of the Corresponding Corpse (1958) Season 2, Episode 1

Now how did you miss that golden opportunity?

****SPOILERS**** It's when insurance company investigator Harry Folsom, Vaughn Taylor, came across the fact that this artist George Hollister, Ross Elliott, is really the dead but very alive George Beaumont who was killed in a plane crash over the Atlatic he opened up a can of worms that he wouldn't be able to shut. It's in his effort in blackmailing Beaumont into him not reporting his being alive where his wife Laura, Jeanne Cooper, ended up getting a fat insurance pay-off from his death Falsom demanded big bucks some $7,000 worth of them, to keep his big mouth shut.

It's was George Beaumont's girlfriend Ruth Whittaker, Joan Camden, who without George's knowledge came up with the blackmail money to pay Falsom off! But as Beaumont was now ready to turn himself in and face the music he also planned to return to his wife Laura leaving poor Ruth out in the cold and out of his life! After a violent spat with George at the motel he was staying in Ruth walked out in tears on him. It's later that Beaumont was fond stabbed to death just hours after Ruth had it out with her now ex-boyfriend and arrested for his murder!

***SPOILERS*** Taking on Ruth's defense Perry Mason, Raymond Burr, slowly and meticulously works on blackmailer Harry Falsom on the witness stand getting him to admit his shake down of the late, this time for real, George Beaumont in order to be paid off not to reveal that he's in fact alive as artist George Hollister. Not that Falsom murdered Beaumont but by bringing out the fact that he was in fact alive brought him to get back to his wife Laura and thus drop Ruth as his lover.****MAJOR SPOILER*** And what's more it lead to his murder by Laura's now boyfriend who was about to marry her by thinking that her husband George Beaumont was already dead and thus now making sure this time around that he is!

Perry Mason: The Case of the Difficult Detour (1961) Season 4, Episode 21

It's Mallory he's like a crazy man and he's coming to your place next!

***SPOILERS*** You need a score card to follow what's going on in this overly complicated and confusing Perry Mason, Raymond Burr, episode with all the screwing and back stabbing going on it with sleazy real estate operator Stuart Benton, Jason Evers, finally getting everything he deserves: Killed with his skull fractured. With one of Benton's many victims construction owner and operator Pete Mallory, Jeff York, being blamed for Benton's murder and having to stand trial for it. Benton had country surveyor the scardy cat Phil Edwards, excellently played by Joe De Reda, falsify the survey maps to trick Mallory into building an access road from the lake to the luxury Bentonville Park Devlopment. The trouble is that the road was being built through Jim Aims', Neil Hamilton, property without his knowledge or permission. With Benton getting up front money from both Mallory and the person who provided him with his earth moving equipment Edward Parker, Burt Freed, he now plans to check out leaving both of them out in the cold and in debt. That's when the courts decides that the project was illegally built on Aime's property!

With an enraged Mallory on his way to confront both Edwards and Benton it's the wetting in his pants Edwards who gets worked over by him but it's the oily as a snake oil salesman Benton who's later found dead with his brains beat in with a iron yard or road marker. With Perry defending Mallory it comes out that even if Mallory did in fact kill Benton the guy was so sleazy and despicable no jury would convict him! Still Perry had to find out who in fact murdered Benton since it was obvious to him that his client Pete Mallory didn't do it! And the person whom he uncovered on the witness stand as Benton's killer had to be baby talked by a totally kind concerned and out of character Perry Mason, to keep him from passing out and going into shock into admitting his role in Benton's murder!

***SPOILERS*** Here we get to see the tough as nails and take no BS Perry Mason use both kindness and a bit of armature psychology to get the killer to admit his crime without his usual brow beating and take no prisoner theatrics. As for the deceased or murdered Stuart Benton no matter what kind of a low life swine he was he still didn't deserved to get murdered. And as for Benton's killer, who in fact was in cohorts with him, he would probably get off with no more then a misdemeanor or a justified homicide acquittal if he's ever put on trial.

***SPOILERS*** Cincinnati head shrinker or psychiatrist Dr. Claire Parker, Mariel Hemingway,has been having trouble with her rambunctious and out of control teenage daughter Emily, Maggie Castle, who hasn't been keeping up with her school work or grades. It turns out that Emily has been hanging out with suspended from school pot head Tony Roth, Morgan Kelly, who not only turned her on to the happy feeling weeds but is also supplying her with them. That's nothing compared to when escaped from a mental hospital John Walter, Jonathan Watton, came on the scene. John has had the hots for Emily for years even since that cold Christmas morning when he spotted her from afar in a tight and sexy green sweater during the Christmas gift opening ceremony. Since then like a bloodhound he's been following Emily all over the state of Ohio and parts of Kentucky just to get a chance to open up a friendly conversation with the girl.

Finally deciding to use the excuse about his need for psychiatric help about his being shy with girls John gets an appointment with Emily's mother Dr. Parker in hoping she's formerly introduce him to her daughter Emily and take it from there! The first time that John gets to see Emily at a meeting of Cincinnati shrinks he makes a complete a** of himself which really hurts his already low self confidence. It's then that John in an effort to win Emily back that he decides to be her night in shinning armor by watching her, again from afar, every movement to see that nothing bad happens to her. During all this time Dr. Parker who's treating John has no idea that she's in fact emboldening him in his actions against her daughter by unconsciously urging him to break out of his shyness and go for it: Her daughter Emily Parker!

****SPOILERS**** Well John does go for it but goes a bit too far in murdering Emily's pot head boyfriend Tony and then goes after her mom Dr. Parker for not getting her daughter Emily, who by then was on the outs with her, to be together and in love with him. By then John besides having murdered Tony and his aunt, earlier and off screen, for sexually molesting him when he was a little boy has completely gone full fledged psycho with him determined to murdered both mother and daughter, Dr. Parker & Emily, and cover up his crime by burning the house down that their in together along with them. We do get the typical indestructible psycho act by John who seems to be immune to bullets. He keeps getting up every time he's gunned down by Dr. Parker who earlier tried to help him. But the end finally did come when instead of blasting John one bullet at a time Dr. Parker unloaded her entire payload of shells into him putting him out of commission for good.

****SPOILERS**** Jeweller Karl Addison, John Conte, has been fencing stolen jewelry through his bosses Old Man Charles Slade, George "Greedy" MacReady, jewelry exchange business for over a year while he was on vacation in Europe. With Slade now coming back to the states to check on how his business is doing Addison is desperate to check out of the country with his lover Slade's secretary the gorgeous blond Adele Bentley, Mary Anders, to South America before Slade finds out what he's been up to. At the same time Addison is scheduled to have an eye operation that he, in his unbalanced mind, plans to use as cover for his crime and intended escape from the long arm of the law. Addison plans to break into Slade's office apartment and steal the jewels while , after the eye operation, him being blind as a bat by practicing to do it blindfolded for weeks in advance to get the feel of the place. Now who can suspect a blind man to do something like that Addison as well as Adele rightly figures.

What they didn't figure is the hot under the collar James Kincannon, Jack Ging, who's mother's jewelry collection Addison is displaying and who's at the same time desperate for ready cash to make up a for $20,000.00 loss at his firm. The loss had to do with James covering for Charles Slade's son Harry who embezzled the money. Before Harry could pay James back the money he loaned or stole for him he himself was later killed in a car crash. Now it's the kind hearted and at the same time screwed James that's stuck with being charged with the crime. But things get even worse when Addison in trying to pull off his hair brained scheme of stealing Slade's jewels ends up falling or being pushed, blindfolded, to his death as he tried to break into Slade's apartment. It's there where Slade kept most of his business or jewelry. And just who gets the credit or blame for Addison's death or murder? The #1 fall guy in all this the luckless James Kincannon who just happened to have been seen leaving Slade's apartment at the time of Addidson's fall from grace or from the apartment patio!

***SPOILERS**** With Perry Mason, Raymond Burr, defending James Kincannon he gets stuck in how to explain why a person so off the wall like Addison could have been murdered by his client even if he wanted to do it! When that lunatic Addison was doing a pretty job doing it himself! That by him walking or tip toeing over ledges three stories high totally blindfolded and with no sense of direction at all. The trick to Addison's murder is not what he saw which was nothing but what or who he heard! And by recognizing his potential murderer's voice who in fact at the same time was trying to raid Salde's jewelry box like Addison was that had him , by being pushed to his death, killed!
