Wouldn't You Be Wooden?
20 May 2023
Sometime during the making of this movie, he accidentally in his house became entangled in number of electrical cords in his bathroom and was knocked unconscious for an indeterminate amount of time. He was reportable in so much pain that he was prescribed high dosages of pain pills. So perhaps his wooden and ho-hum performance could have partially been due to just trying to function in the fog of painful headaches and/or the fog of a medicated state. True, he had a number of weeks off to recover, but he still had to complete the picture. Of course, he was probably also bored stiff, but still anyone fighting pain and/or pain killers would be hard pressed to turn in a stellar performance.

Lost Hope
6 May 2023
I had great hope for this British drama; however, it quickly became apparent that it was a soap opera masquerading as a police drama. Arrests were quickly made on the slimmest of evidence. Accusations flew between the police and the perps and sensitive interviews were at times conducted in places other than a police interview room. All reflected the high drama of a soap opera. Also in soap operas, the actors have lots of lines and little time to rehearse, so their performance is somewhat off-the-cuff. Likewise in LS, all of the actors performed in somewhat of an off-the-cuff manner. All in all, it never seemed to settle down, with arrests and accusations happening at the strangest times, there seemed to be little hope.

Could Paul Michael Glaser have ever known?
31 July 2021
This episode and the continuation was filmed in late 1977. To Glaser it was just another episode, notable in that it was a two-parter. These two episodes, called "The Plague," dealt with an illness that was highly contagious and killed quickly. That was just a script, but four years later, sadly it all became too real as AIDS struck this nation and the world. Just as sadly, Glaser ended up on the front lines in this fight against AIDS as his wife and then his daughter contracted and later passed from this horrible disease. Do you think that Glaser thought about the episodes as he was involved in his battle with this disease? Could he have ever known?

The Virus, Deja Vu
12 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Oh my goodness. Back then, a very infectious virus was only a plot point. But watching the explanation that if this virus gets loose, then many people will be wiped out -- was a real heart wrench. This plot point was buried in a light hearted take off on "Animal House" with all of the frat house antics happening at a party with a dramatic ending of this virus almost being let loose. Oh that real life was so simple.

Midsomer Murders: Dark Secrets (2011)
Season 14, Episode 2
John Barnaby
17 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I didn't really expect that John Barnaby to be an exact copy of Tom Barnaby, but I am put off by his somewhat adversarial relationship with Jones. I would think that John Barnaby would want to respect him rather than fling a string of critical remarks at him. But Jones seems to take it all in stride as he maintains his good humor. And he redeems himself somewhat as he disables a bomb.

On another note, isn't it interesting that although John Barnaby's house is way different on the outside, the inside looks almost exactly (ha, ha) like Tom Barnaby's house.

"Cheaper By The Dozen" Review
7 October 2012
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is an excellent slice of life back in the day. The father and the mother were both pioneers in motion studies and took on the challenge of raising a dozen children according to their precepts of high educational and moral standards and this movie concerns the various humorous situations that occur throughout the years including the woman who was told that the mother would be a good "family planning representative," democratic family meetings, the father's insistence that the girls wear old fashioned bathing costumes at the beach, the father's stand against make up and new-style undergarments. Sadly, the father suffered a fatal heart attack while traveling and we get to see the family pull together to enable the mother to carry on with the family business.
