Terror in the Woods (2017)
Very Well Done
First off I do not understand many of the reviews written here bashing the show because it is not real, ? This is an entertaining and well produced show that makes for a fun evening of scares. Grab some popcorn and a beverage and just let your imagination go. Do not attempt to analyze this show, it's purely for entertainment. Yes the real people who claim that the events happened to them are just actors, probably Canadian. My favorite episode was Season 2 episode 7, We Were Goners. That episode brought back instant memories from my childhood playing around with my brother and nephew. Not sure why the series has two different titles, "Terror in the Woods" and "These Woods are haunted", but it is the same series. I wish they would produce some more episodes, can't get enough of the Bigfoot stuff!!
Extreme Ghost Stories (2006)
Brilliantly Spooky
Caught this late one night, best to watch alone with the bass and subwoofers turned up for effect. The narrator's voice is perfect, with good acting and nice recreations of the hauntings. Wish there were more episodes, really enjoyed this as opposed to the usual boring ghost hunter shows. The stories themselves were unique and not ones I was familiar with. The music adds to the overall creepiness and I thought the direction was was very good. I wish this could've been done with Dolby 5.1 surround sound as it could definitely help add to the overall feel of the stories. But the show still seem to have pretty good production values, and even though it's somewhat old, it holds up even by today's standards.
Ambush Bay (1966)
Military Advisors Please!!!
As a military veteran I am not sure where to begin. James Mitchum's character wearing a "RED" hat, plainly stupid. Uniforms wrong, supposedly specially trained soldiers not knowing how to apply face paint camouflage, whimsical individual "specialties" announced during character intro. The list goes on, for example why would a soldier run after placing a bomb on a tank so he can be cut down by machine fire from the very same and only tank? Why wouldn't he have taken cover and wait for the tank to be taken out, silly scene. Mitchum's character is also silly, why would be be assigned to such an important mission when he obviously does not possess the experience necessary. Also the team decides to take a prisoner, really, during this type of mission that would not happen. It's obvious none of the actors had any military training or experience, clear from the way they move and hold their weapons. If their was a military advisor on this film they were ignored by the Director, which seriously hurt this film. Great War films have to have a sense of authenticity, this one really missed the mark in that department. Maybe a lot of it is the Director's blame, maybe he didn't know anything about the military or war. The makers of this film could have learned a lot from watching Attack Force Z, a film that has authenticity to it in the areas I mentioned above. So if you have a rainy day, and you don't mind watching a miscast Mickey Rooney playing a Marine, then this film is better then watching paint dry.
Nope (2022)
Silly Film
This film makes little sense, subplot involving a deranged monkey is well, just strange. I don't see why this is getting such good reviews. Cinematography is very good as well as most of the special effects. However the inside of the "UFO" is very unimaginative. I saw this in IMAX, but still didn't help much to make this a memorable movie.
