Deliver by Christmas (2020)
Deliver Us From Christmas
Same old feel-good-story. Same old background music pling-a-ling-plonging through most of the scenes. Which are really beautiful. The story however is slow and big time boring. There is no dilemma, no 'OMG what will happen?'-moment or whatsoever. Just the Poor Kid-ingredient and a few miscommunications. There is no end to the circling around of the main characters. Just like an extra long episode of The Bold And The Beautiful, season 35. Elon Bailey, who reminded me a lot of Ridge Forrester by the way, is a sight for sore eyes. Nevertheless, wished I had put sticks under my eyes, because I could not help dozing off at the end.
Christmas on My Mind (2019)
Wicked Christmas Mind
The scenery is beautiful, Andrew Walker enjoyable and 'ready to eat with a spoon'. Christmas carols and cheerful music is heard, pling-plonging along through almost most of the film. But after about 10 minutes, or was it 5, I started yawning and just couldn't stop. I wondered if I would make it to the end! No chemistry between any of the characters, things that could have been foreseen a mile away, storyline implausible to the max. Like some sort of an endless episode of The Bold And The Beautiful season 35. I really believed Ashley Greene was faking it all the time, her alledged amnesia. I thought it was more a wicked ploy to put her back in Zach's arms with her wedding dress and all. I know it's a feel-good movie, same old formula, can't be too harsh. But this one lacks a bit of pepper and salt and a lemon squeeze. Luckily there was the kiss at the end.
Forever Rich (2021)
Great Performance By Jonas Smulders!
This film got me captured, non-stop. First of all, Jonas Smulders has been doing a great job in portraying the main character, totally convincing in the way he played the different aspects of the persona. All of the acting was really good, all very believable the way they live and speak - with a lot of 'slang'- in this specific culture. The cinematography and editing was wonderfully done, especially the night and chase scenes. Loved the close-ups, the story. Bit of a minus are some erotic - more or less explicit - scenes leaving nothing to the imagination, unfortunately fixed ingredients in Dutch films from the early 1970s on.
