RuPaul's Drag Race: The Mother of All Balls (2024)
Season 16, Episode 3
7/10
Fun episode, but enough with the "twist".
20 January 2024
I really LOVE the Balls. One of my favourite challenges. It's season 16 and it's expected that all queens at least have taken a sewing course. No one is asking them to be fashion designers, but they know what they're getting into. At least be able to construct something with a glue gun.

There were some really fabulous looks and I'm satisfied with the winner, but not exactly with all the bottom placements. As a costume designer, and without giving spoilers, two deserved to be there but one of them I would have switched.

That's why I don't like the "twist" anymore. And they're not even revealing everything. So it feels quite shady, from production's part. Just like production never revealed the actual results of The Fame Games votes.

I did enjoyed the episode, because there are very talented queens here who served amazing looks and the lipsync winner IMO was the correct one, but I don't want more of this twist thing.

Hopefully it ends here.

RuPaul's Drag Race: Rate-a-Queen (2024)
Season 16, Episode 1

Fun season premiere, hope the twist doesn't last
7 January 2024
After watching Meet the Queens, I wasn't very excited about the cast, giving the diversity introduced in the franchise by the first season of Drag Race Germany and the 4th season of Canada's Drag Race, plus the fact I'm not from the US so I don't know any of the cast members. But I was pleasantly surprised by the queens of this season premiere. They all have charisma and talent and it was nice to see them getting along. It's so good to have an episode of RPDR US without cheap fabricated drama, refreshing. The special guests where also a nice touch.

The talent show had some very good performances, I was quite entertained and satisfied. The runway also showcased some clear talents. Besides some clear runway gems, the rest were average, but I'm used to. I expect excellence in the runway on All Stars.

Now, regarding the twist and without spoiling things: I wasn't very excited about it, but if they do it just for the double premiere episodes, I am willing to see how it goes. Now, if they keep it, I don't think it's going to work.

That's all I'm going to say for now.

I am happily surprised by these queens, looking forward to the next episode.

Great drag lost in cheap useless drama.
28 December 2023
This season has been very disappointing so far, and this is mainly fault of The Boulets and Lead Story Producer KC Lindley. Yes, let's point to the people responsible.

The drag artists left are very creative and talented, yet instead of showing us their creative process behind each of their creations, we are immerse in some sort of those worst days of "Untucked". Yes, the show they refer as "the 'other' show", it seems they want to became worst than what they were in their lowest.

The amount of misoginy towards Sigourney makes me ill. I know Hollow didn't have it easy either and not even Landon was spared, despite being a huge name, but at least on their season, the focus was on the actual ART and TALENT, and most of the drama felt real, like things happening to real people who have to share together a space suddenly and work under pressure and compete while also forming bonds.

But this time, the misoginy of certain contestants, both gone and present towards Sigourney it's too much. And just goes to show that the people involved in this show are into bullying women. The worst part is seeing someone who should understand what is like to be target of misogynist allied with them! At this point I just think it's plain envy from this particular person.

I can't even enjoy the floor shows because they're too short, I can't enjoy the looks, because more than 60% of the show is drama queens producing cheap drama and being misoginystic.

I had high hopes after S3 and Resurrection. Now I don't know what to think.

I really hope things change drastically on S5.

I know I'm late watching, but hey, I'm from a third world country and I don't have this streaming service available on my country on release date.

Not an interesting twist
19 December 2023
I like the diversity of the cast so far, there are very talented drag queens here and that's always good for us viewers.

Regarding the challenge, it was clear who were the strongest ones and who were the ones in danger. I agree with the judges on the winner and I feel one of the bottoms was picked for a "choice" she made during the runway, that was mentioned by a judge and it's an obvious no-no if you have been watching Drag Race for 14 years already (assuming this was recorded before season 15 US aired).

Regarding the "Twist", I didn't like it. We already have All Stars and it's not going anywhere. On the contrary, All Stars Spain was recorded and it's awaiting to air and besides the traditional US All Stars, we are supposed to have a Global All Stars. So I honestly don't understand why they introduced this "twist".

In All Stars, we as viewers already know the queens from their previous seasons and many contestants know each other irl. But here, it's just feel like some sort of "rigga morris". People being afraid of become a target, and cheap drama. I couldn't care less about that. This is a talented cast. Showcase the Charisma, Uniqueness, Nerve and Talent instead of cheap drama-queens and manipulative personalities.

Now I wonder what kind of silly change they will do on All Stars.

This was unnecessary and nobody asked for this.

Besides, I feel that the eliminated queen won the lipsync, but of course they wanted to get rid of her.

What a way to take the fun part of a very promising cast.

What is wrong with Laurie Nunn and Alice Seabright?
16 December 2023
I'm asking an honest question here.

Are screenwriters Laurie Nunn and Alice Seabright OK?

I thought this was a "rom-com" teen show, with a touch of drama, but I never expected violence against the most vulnerable beings, just as an element of shock value, played for laughs.

It's highly disturbing. Netflix usually have spoilers when a show or film has a suicide scene, yet they didn't warn about graphic animal abuse.

Of course it's fake, we all know that, yet you still spoil shows with fake suicides yet couldn't warn about fake horrible animal violence.

Only "funny" in the mind of sadists and people with antisocial personality disorder of the violent type.

I would like a scene, played for laughs, with one of the characters that represent a "minority" being subjected to severe violence. Let's change it, see if the psychos defend the script. "Oh, it's just a scene". "It's just a joke".

Come on. Let's make a scene where a minority, that in real life can be killed, get killed, but not for drama, for the lolz. This series is over, but come on, you can write such scene anytime on any show. Or a toddler, or baby.

For the lolz.

This is the lowest this can get.

Of course my review won't be published, but thanks to everyone who spoke against this.

So many ridiculous comments about imaginary characters and couples that are fantasy, when the message here is that violence against animals is something to laugh about.

Proud vegan and mother of cats.

Rigged. 30 minutes without moving?
25 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I thought I was going to see a competition show based on the original "Squid Game" (English translation) South Korean TV series.

The original series is an actual message about how inequality in capitalist societies make people fell in debt and desperate to survive.

I understand a "Reality TV show" needs to focus on certain participants that production likes, to create their storyline and all that stuff. They are not going to show us 400 contestants and of course no one will have the numbers that the main characters of the series had.

But I wasn't expecting such a weird first episode. There was absolutely NO REASON to have so many people being eliminated. Ridiculous. They didn't even put the music faster. Until you learn that they had them for 7 to 9 hours in a very cold hangar and they had to be "not moving" for 30 MINUTES!

And then when you get to know that only a few got real microphones. At least they could have hired real extras and paid them for the day instead eliminating real contestants that actually make it through the challenge. It makes me sick. And there was one person who was eliminated but then put back in the game by production.

I don't know anyone of those with microphones but they're supposedly "influencers". Who they influence? I don't know, but not me nor any smart people.

I don't put a lower rating because the recreation looked of the doll deserves a 4.

But the show is a waste of a good idea.

I don't care who wins, who loses, it's all rigged and nobody likes the participants anyways.

Fun challenge, but the Rigga Morris ruins it.
4 March 2023
This episode's challenge I personally thought it was fun and entertaining. Since now we have half the queens we had at the beginning of the season, it's less uncomfortable to watch 8 contestants within 40 minutes than 15 of course.

The way the challenge was edited seemed quite entertaining and it showed to me 3 clear bottom queens but oddly one of those was declared safe and a queen that has been dragged to the bottom was placed there without much explanation on why she was there instead of the safe one, but we all can predict which queens are going home next because of the "rigga morris" this season.

This same issue happened with the winner of the challenge. I agree with the high placement, but I expected a different contestant to win and this time I agree if said contestant is bothered for not winning. The notorious favouritism production has for the contestant who won this challenge makes me thin this artist will be obviously the winner of the show and take away a lot of excitement and emotion from it.

Everything has become predictable. We don't have the jury's deliberations but we don't need it to know who they want to "sashay away" and who they want to win.

A sadly dissapointed season. I don't blame any of the queens of course, they're all very talented, hard working artists. This is just bad moves from production.

RuPaul's Drag Race: House of Fashion (2023)
Season 15, Episode 5

Very confused by the judging and still too short episodes.
29 January 2023
This episode was definitely better than the last one, with a classic mini-challenge that unfortunately didn't show us much of the girls, because they're still many (I'm not complaining about it), but they edited the segment very short, so we didn't have too much time to enjoy it.

The main challenge was one of those I look forward to each season, yet we didn't get to know how the teams were picked, if it wasn't for some of the Queens' narrations that it was randomly assigned.

I do appreciate that the directors did included a little bit of RuPaul's feedback with some of the teams in the workroom, unlike the past episode.

I really love to see the Queens doing their magic, arts and crafts in the workroom, we got some of that, but not much. The time is still lacking for all of them.

Now, what I really couldn't understand was the placements. I feel, based on the main challenge, that the right person won and the right person went home, but I honestly feel that the other 2 bottom placements didn't belong there, purely based on the execution of the main challenge. And I know about this, I pay bills with wath they did. 2 people who were safe I honestly think should have been bottom. Also, some safe should have been high too.

It's so confusing because of this decision of having so many Queens with 40 minute episodes. It's a very bad move and both, production and the broadcaster should make arrangements regarding this issue. Besides the dumb decisions of not broadcasting the episodes on the same date on international MTV channels (like all serious channels do to avoid piracy, like HBO, Fox, AMC, etc), it takes knowing one person with WoW+ and you can organise a viewing whenever you all can/want. You know I'm not gonna pay for my own subscription when you're not giving quality and you're being disrespectful to the artists.

RuPaul's Drag Race: Supersized Snatch Game (2023)
Season 15, Episode 4
5/10
Too many Queens, no deliberations, not worthy of subscription
21 January 2023
Unfortunately the latest two episodes, specially this one, with so many Queens doing Snatch Game felt so rushed and edited poorly. There are way too many Queens to be able to enjoy the Snatch Game in such short amount of time, I didn't know who was portraying Tim Gunn until after the runway, because if RuPaul visited the Queens before the Snatch Game, it was never shown and neither it was shown which character each of them were going to play, and we are talking about 14 contestants. This is not good, they probably wanted to prevent last season' Snatch Game fiasco, but it didn't work out.

Something that it's bothersome too it's that we don't get to see any deliberations at all. Everything feels so rushed, I don't understand why the moved to MTV if it's damaging the show. All of us international viewers, it's not worthy to pay a WoW+ subscription for this. So disappointed. I feel bad for the Queens, who work hard and spend money on their outfits and are barely showcased.

Too much fiction to be enjoyable
8 December 2022
This show has unfortunately too much fiction to be actually enjoyable.

This episode in particular is really upsetting, when even a person like me, from a third world country, knows certain facts better than the show's scriptwriters, it seems.

It's of course understandable that some artistic license will be taken, this is not a documentary, but this episode seems so out of place, I wonder if Mr. Fitzgerald was an executive producer? I should check the credits again.

I think the cinematography is quite good and I have no problem with the acting. I feel disappointed by Discovery Channel. No wonder why retired FBi agents who were part of the UNABOM Team dislike it and Ted Kaczynski himself didn't even bother watching it.

OK episode, could have been better.
1 December 2022
First time seen this season from a third world country, fortunately spoiler free.

I definitely think this main challenge would have work better if it were done instead of the challenge in episode 5. Like US Season 3, it would have been great to see two teams working the main challenge with two different scripts, giving life to the same characters. That would have been brilliant. But it didn't happen so this is what we got, which wasn't bad but wasn't great either. I felt strongly that RuPaul and Production are pushing a certain Queen to the finale, not the Queen's fault, but when Production do that, I can't help to feel unimpressed about that Queen, especially if it turns out to be the winner, which is sad, because she may be a talented fierce Queen, but I'm a Gen X and I can tell when a show is pushing a character on me and I can't help to have this visceral rejection. And it's happening. That's all I'm saying to avoid any spoilers.

Unbiased opinion: OK Snatch Game, elimination smells like Rigga Morris
30 November 2022
I'm from a third world country so I'm watching for the first time, spoilers-free.

I honestly thought that the episode was going fine, an OK Snatch Game with clear strong tops and some one-note characters that a viewer like me would have suspected to be on the bottom, the edit also always highlights in anticipation who is landing the jokes and who isn't. The runway I must admit was a bit disappointing, but the judging felt honestly very "Rigga Morris" in benefit of some Queens (not the winner, I do believe she deserved it from what was shown). I'm do not agree with the some safe and definitely not with the bottoms in regard of their performance in the main challenge. Production has made this sesion an absolutely mess. It's so sad because every single Queen in the cast has talent and situations seems to be pushed by force, RuPaul and Production knows very well that when they create these situations the audience get bored, they cannot force us to like someone and this lesson should have been learnt after US Season 2. But something happens with this Production team that they don't seem to learn from past mistakes. I will see the season to the end by default. I'm not really interested though and that's not really the Queens' fault. It's absolutely Production's fault. Worst UK Season so far and I hope they don't commit the same mistakes ever again.

Best episode of Season 3 so far
30 November 2022
As a third world country viewer, I had no spoiler for this episode so I was looking forward to the season to get better. And this episode delivered. The challenge was fun, also the runway theme, even though I'm not into this style, I think most of us Drag fans can a absolutely relate, specially those of us who grew up when those famous girls were popular around the world! Guilty pleasure!

I can say that I found myself agreeing with most of the judges choices (but not all of their critiques) and the Queens delivered good performances and a very good lipsync!

Looking forward to the following episodes, I hope they keep improving.

Rigga Morris in episode 2? And not a good challenge.
29 November 2022
As a viewer from a third world country, I've managed to stay away from most spoilers successfully, so I arrived here with only one spoiler that was international news that I couldn't avoid, but at least that fact means it's not gonna be so shocking and sad to see that departure.

Regarding challenges or eliminations, I'm absolutely a first time viewers of this season, so everything is new to me. That being said, this episode was disappointing, it felts like Production is trying to apply their edit manipulation and what is worst, their infamous US "Rigga Morris".

The challenge didn't felt good, perhaps a good idea on paper, but it only work out for one team. Very questionable judging and so obvious Rigga Morris, I agree that the Queen deserved a Top position, but the badge, IMHO, was clearly for the other Top Queen. All these situations we already have been through in so many US seasons that we end up forgetting some of those winners, I really hope it doesn't happen here too.

RuPaul's Drag Race UK: Bring Back My Queens (2021)
Season 2, Episode 1

Very confusing judging
27 November 2022
Great Queens, very interesting cast and different styles of Drag, the episode is definitely fun and the challenges entertaining.

Each Queen has their own style and way of make drag unique, the interactions are cool, love British Drag for the respect each artist has for each other despite any kind of issue they might have, unlike the US Drag Queens who fall easily for cheap drama. Good start until now.

Now that I've wrote about the good and meet the required characters, THE JUDGING WAS ABSOLUTELY CONFUSING. I really can't understand some of the placements. This episode could have been a 9 or 10 but is barely a 6.5 or 7 because of this.

It's absolute ignorance about British culture from Michelle Visage and RuPaul? It's "Rigga Morris"? Some bottoms and tops placements wouldn't have happened if it were the US version. I'm certain. After so many season, what do the judges want, charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent or retail bought clothes? I'm absolutely confused.

I HATE Rigga Morris!
26 November 2022
This whole season was so much fun, to be able to see the Queens perform on every single challenge, some of my favourite Queens of all times (I LOVE Raja, also Yvie and The Viv), every single Queen showcased talent and funny sides of themselves, it was great to see, I thought AS was finally working, despite not showing the reasons why some winners were picked were it weren't obvious, like in this episode, one of the Queens was an obvious winner, but the other wasn't. It's clear who are the main narrators chosen by production, but judging should be fair, they are choosing, not the Queens and the infamous lipsticks. It ruins all the meaning.

Producers are harming some Queen's careers here. People around the world don't like "special treatment" and neither future viewers. All those Instagram followers won't pay those Queen's bills. Because we know when it's "Rigga Morris". And even when it's Production and RuPaul's work, they will keep making money, but we won't forget the bias in favour of those Queens. A show is coming to my third world country featuring 2 Queens involved in this Rigga Morris issue. I don't feel like going, even though I would love to see the other 2. It starts with a couple of people in a third world country who won't attend a show and a lower rating on IMDb. How it will end? We want the riggotry to end, that's all.

Best Untucked episode ever
26 November 2022
I wish the episode lasted longer!

I'm not a fan of Untucked, but since season 6, some of the episodes have more interesting content. The change in the format of this season has allowed a much better interaction between the Queens and this particular episode was so much fun! I wish all Untucked episodes were like this, at least for the All Stars seasons, were contestants know each other already and they have been through this competition experience before.

Cool and interesting guest too!

I hope the Producers can finally learn to leave things flow on their own and to help with fun things instead of instigating fake cheap drama or their typical "Rigga Morris".

RuPaul's Drag Race: The Ross Mathews Roast (2022)
Season 14, Episode 13

This should have been a make-over challenge.
18 November 2022
I loved the mini-challenge, but I didn't enjoyed the Roast. I'm not a fan of Roasts, because there's always someone who come off as just rude and make me feel very uncomfortable. This time it felt just boring and very short. Perhaps the uneven number of Queens didn't allow a make-over challenge between themselves (it was filmed during Covid restrictions), but then again, those weird "eliminations".

The runway had some very cool and interesting looks, others not so much. We should have more time to enjoy the Queens' different talents instead of very boring rehearsals.

I enjoy the absence of "drama", but I don't enjoy the absence of entertainment. I get entertained by enjoying the Queens' different talents, not only lip-sync and dance.

Too much Production's "Rigga Morris" and cheap "drama"
17 November 2022
Once it's surprising, twice it's repetitive. This is way too much. At least the "Rigga Morris" is a little bit disguised, unlike season 13, but it's getting incredibly boring to see less tha half of an episode actually enjoying the Queens' talents, instead getting cheap fabricated "drama" and the feel that this season is going nowhere at all. No wonder this hasn't been renewed on Netflix on one have to see it somewhere else for free.

If World of Wonder pretends to keep working this way, they're gonna lose a lot of fans across the world, that's a fact because no matter how talented the Queens they cast are, they (the Producers) are the ones in charge and if they carry the show this way, with this edits and "twists", they can be sure no one is gonna pay they hard earned money on their exclusive subscription.

Worst Snatch Game in 13 years of existence
17 November 2022
Netflix is not broadcasting this season, so I had to get out of my comfort zone to find this season online. Obviously not all the Queens will perform well in Snatch Game and Production will interfere, but here, it was shocking how bad it was, with only one Queen barely landing the jokes and those Queens who I expected to deliver at least an average performance, didn't. And I don't think it was all productions' fault, because they would have tried to save the episode, isn't that what any Production Company would have done? I have worked on TV here in my country, they care about money from advertisers so this is not helping anyone. And the last decision was interesting, but to leave it for the next episode, feels like a desperate Production's move. The only highlights is that the winner finally got a win and a couple of runway looks.

Production and RuPaul ruins the show
6 November 2022
I was rewatching and this episode is special for me, because it features Frances Bean Cobain as a Guest Judge and I got to know RuPaul back in 1993, when I was just a young girl in my early teens, thanks to those images of RuPaul with Nirvana, holding Kurt Cobain's and Hole's singer Courtney Love baby. I was amazed by RuPaul and wanted to know who she was, here in my third world country, with no internet access for me back then.

Unfortunately, the way this "All Stars" show is set, put few established and beloved queens with a lot of new ones face each other. When they enter they agree to the rules but we know they have alliances and the newer fear the established ones, with better track records. Others fear fans reactions. Whatever it is, I don't think who eventually wins is the best because of the way the elimination is played. Also, in this particular episode, I think the Queen who won the lipsync deserved the challenge win, but the other winner IMHO should have been the Queen who was safe and have the best track record, she did a better work than the other challenge winner. Also, I honestly don't think the Queen who was in the bottom and got to stay deserved to be in the bottom. Even Carson understood the resemblance. So I really think the two bottom Queens were put there by Production and RuPaul for DRAMA. Because they think drama is good. But it's not when your best artists and performers are sent home. I really can't blame the top Queens for wanting to get rid of their biggest competition who is also the one who is less close to them, but that makes the show cringy, makes the Queens look not shady but weak and it becomes boring for us audiences.

The Makeover Challenge is my favourite and this episode was certainly not, despite having 3 of my favourite Queens and Frances Bean Cobain.

Bad idea to hire aspiring actress who portrays a character and not herself
5 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
There has been other aspiring actresses who had been in the show, even one of the best episodes, IMHO, it's Season 2 Episode 3, where all contestants work in showbusiness, but they're sharing something real. This episode wasn't the case. Djakarta Jacobs, with her character "Deena" really ruined it for me. To create unnecessary drama while portraying a character in a show that supposedly features real life women, it's just ridiculous.

I know most contestants represents fictionalised versions of themselves, but this was too much. Bad move.

Perhaps if this show kept working with real women instead of aspiring actresses in order to give better lipsyncs and create ridiculous drama, it wouldn't have been cancelled.

RuPaul's Drag Race: World's Worst (2020)
Season 12, Episode 3

This is what happens when Production have to re-edit.
12 October 2022
We all know reality shows are not documentaries, specially not Observational Documentaries, in terms of Bill Nichols. Producers edit (and even ask the contestants to re-enact certain situations to get "a better shot) at their will. That's how the Producers' script the Reality Shows, participants may be aware of the editing treatment they will receive, or not. Certain contestant was chosen by Producers as a main character and narrator, but due to very unpleasant circumstances that came to light during filming and that happened before the filming began, the "chosen one" fell off the pedestal, not for the drag work or performance in the show, but for borderline illegal activities committed against other individuals in his private life. This is clearly seen in the "new edit". Producers shouldn't be so quick to pick they favourites and main narrators. Not everyone are "Miss Vanjie", who seemed like the main narrator of Season 10 and it worked because all the hype and his natural C., U., N. And T. But not this time. I want to see the work of the other Queens but the bloody reminder that cannot be skipped on every single episode and the rushed "new edition" ruins things.

I hope Producers learn their lesson. If they want to script everything, hire bloody actors then. In others seasons it has been obvious some things are rigged, but now we have actual proofs. Sad thing.

6/10 because of Gary Sinise and that I can relate with PTSD, GAD and panic attacks and it's nice to see the show addressing these issues. But the "showrunners" are taking too many elements from thrillers that doesn't really help.

Bad thing is that IRL, no one cares about 2 dead rapists. And we see that not even hybristophilic "Ani" cares. I don't see people mourning Richard Huckle. I feel more sorry about Jeffrey Dahmer than Montgomery de la Cruz. I hope this season doesn't try to "humanise" him, we already had that with Bryce.
