Kendra (2009)
Too scripted.
I liked Kendra ever since I saw her on the girls next door, she was funny and quirky and a joy to watch. When I caught wind of her reality show, I was excited.
My excitement came to an end as I realized what kind of person she really is. She was ditsy on the girls next door, but I didn't I figured it was an act. No, she really is that stupid. Her husband was sweet, but I feel like they aren't meant for each other. Her mother seemed to be cashing into her daughter's success, and her brother was just there. When the season ended I was happy, it was nice to put on when nothing else was on...But it wasn't memorable.
When the second season premiered, I thought maybe they would improve it? Nope, this time it was unbelievable scripted. Simple events were blown completely out of proportion. It was unbearable.
Needless to say this needs to get off the air. I would only watch this if nothing else was on, and even then I would watch it while texting.
Also, a few things that bugged me were how messy Kendra always looked. She rarely dressed up or combed her hair, I mean I know it's your life but your on TV!
Mob Wives (2011)
Pure trash.
Italians have been targeted as the new money maker in television, from Jersey Shore to Cake Boss. Italians have been exploited and profited in the way of reality shows. So, it isn't surprising that a show chronically the lives of women who are affiliated with the Italian mob was showcased.
One of the main issues I have with the show is the concept..Now, I'm not an expert on mobs but I do know you're not suppose to publicly associated yourself with the mob. Doing so will result you "swimming with the fishes". With that said, I'm very surprised that this show was even picked up.
The show itself, is about four or five women who have family members that are involved with the mob. These women have a very tough and off putting exterior. It can be assumed that these women have some type of mental disorder and that they need to seek professional help. But instead of that, they go on national television and air their dirty laundry for all to see. The show does not have a plot, it pretty much resolves around when their husbands are being released from prison and the old family drama.
I would only watch this if you're bored, not if you're looking for quality television.
While the Children Sleep (2006)
Not to be taken seriously.
I've been getting into watching lifetime movies and as I was browsing through the titles I thought this one was interesting, so I hit the record button.
When I got around to watching the movie, I was amused. The movie managed to drag on for two hours, barely keeping the viewer's attention. In fact, the only thing that kept my attention were the deaths that were sloppily done. This movie wasn't all bad, the beginning part interestingly connects with the end. You'd find yourself saying "oh...that's why" at the end of this.
When it's all said and done I would say this movie is worth a view. Mariana Klaveno completely sells it and is a joy to watch. She stands out in this cast. In fact, the only reason I'm giving this more than a 5 is because of her.
*** Spoilers begin here!*** The film begins with the cops investigating a house, because someone heard screaming. The two cops investigate and arrest the crazy mother. Then the other cop finds a young "Abby Reed"(I'll explain why it's in quotations later) in a corner, with marks on her face...obviously mistreated and abused.
The film fast forward many years as we find Abby Reed with news clippings and pictures of Carter Eastman (the father and lawyer). She's obsessed with him. Seeing that his wife has an ad for the babysitter she applies for the job. To make a long story short, the family requests an interview with Abby, they realize she's perfect and take her on.
Abby is perfect with the kids, and everything seems well. But as you know, this *is* a lifetime movie and something has to go wrong. Well the mother's nosey neighbor is skeptical of the babysitter, mainly because she catches her son sneaking a peek of her naked..Then proceeds to smack him in the face. That scene alone, is HILARIOUS. Anywho, the neighbor google searchers Abby and think she's sketchy. She proceeds to phone the Mother to warn her, however Abby is two steps ahead and kills the neighbor.
Oh shoot, she actually killed the father's friend before this I think. It wasn't that important. OK moving on!
This part is a bit hazy, but Abby tries to murder the wife. She trips her down the stairs and "saves her life" by calling 911...Because she wanted to fire her, after seeing Abby running out of the bathroom where his husband was. The mother is confined to a wheelchair where Abbey has full advantage. Meanwhile, one of the mother's friends began to do an actual google search and finds out that Abby Reed has been dead for a while. And that this woman had a trouble past. She rushes to tell the mother, but calls the house first. Idiot right? Well Abby hears this and pushes hurts the mother, ties up the children, and the husband. Then Abby tells Carter why she's obsessed with him, carter was actually the lawyer on her case. She was fascinated with him.
Then the re's a big rush to end the movie, as the mother manages to stab Abby. When Abby dies the mother smiles and turns to her husband and says, "I just fired the baby sitter". CORNY GALORE.
It fades to credits and the camera pans up to the sky. The. End.
Poison Ivy: The Secret Society (2008)
If I wanted to see softporn then I wouldn't be on lifetime.
I really liked Miriam on Degrassi, I think she's an excellent actress...Bu this role put her in such a bad light.
I didn't see all of the movie, but what I did see was way too much for TV. I'm not a prude or anything, but really? It seemed more like a porno because of the lack of concept than an actual movie. What really bothered me about the whole thing that happened to Daisy, was that she had a choice. In the scene where they asked the girls if they wanted in, they looked at each other instead of deciding for themselves. She could of said no and be done with it. After they said yes they drank something and got tramp stamps. Lol? Who wrote that. I'm pretty sure there's a law against forcing someone to get a tattoo..But I guess since it's a movie, they don't have to be realistic?
I think this movie is only good for pubescence boys to get their jollies off. It has no substance at all.
