Royal Pains (2009)
side character have better storylines
This is an average show where all the supporting characters have better storylines. Even the lame brother have a nice character growth. Married, going through struggle of child birth, becoming an administrator, winning election, etc.
The shy doctor is pushing himself, the conservative shy PA has a better character growth.
Except the main character, who is same as he was in the very first episode right till the end.
No character growth, no story arch, no lesson learned. Even belittling his brother down at every moment.
On top of that, there are no season arch and you go through random patients in every episodes which does become boring after a while.
The Diplomat (2023)
wanna be Madam Secretary tv show
The show under discussion boasts of high production values, but it falls short of the brilliance that Madam Secretary offers. The show does try to reach the same level of quality as Madam Secretary, but it simply fails to do so. One of the major issues with the show is that it portrays a main character who is abusive towards her spouse, both physically and emotionally. However, despite this, we are expected to like and root for her.
If the gender roles were reversed in this scenario, the media would have a field day and call for the diplomat's immediate removal. However, since the character in question is a woman, we are expected to accept this behavior.
Moreover, the acting in the show is nowhere near as good as that of Madam Secretary. The lead actor, in particular, lacks the depth and range required to make the character believable. The only saving grace of the show is Rufus Sewell's performance, which is exceptional.
The writing of the show is poor, and the quality of the show is average at best. The music and scenes are good, but the other actors fail to make an impact. Overall, the show has a lot of room for improvement and is not in the same league as Madam Secretary.
Echo (2023)
left more questions than the show answered
How did Maya defeated Kingpin in the end? Did she removed all the anger from Kingpin? Is he good now?
What is Kingpin obsession with Maya? I mean, he says he is her uncle, but in what relation. Maya's grandmother did not knew Kingpin. Also, why did Kingpin had Maya's father killed? Also, what is her obsession with Maya?
Does Maya have super powers now? Will she join Avengers now to fight Scarlet Witch? Looks like she can easily kick Daredevil back now.
Why did Maya came to Tamaha, when the headquarters of Kingpin are in NYC when her goal was to become queenpin? Was Tamaha the biggest kingpin base or because that is where Maya from in childhood.
Maya expect everyone to learn sign language for her. Why has she not tried to learn lip reading yet? She could have understood basic things what the enemy is saying without her sister or anyone else to explain.
Oppenheimer (2023)
1st half feels like collection of tiktok/IG reels
I have a mix feeling about the movie.
The 1st half of the movie feels like collection of tiktok/IG reels.
With jumps going so fast, it was harder to focus on any one character or character development or story flow.
It felt like the movie was going for punch line to punch lines like "the world with end with this bomb" and so on.
They built the Los Alamos, but if you have no idea why Los Alamos was built, the security, the secrecy, the bare bone structure of the city, the long and hard working hours of the scientist there, then from those jumping scenes, it was hard to understand the importance of Los Alamos.
Same way Niels Bohr flew from Germany, but the actor had a big smile on his face and he was asking can you make a bigger bomb. I mean, what was the reason behind him asking if the bomb is big enough. Why was Niels Bohr character even there, and why was he smiling.
Also, from jumping of scenes, it was also hard to grasp that it took them 2-3 yrs of long working days to finish the gadget. There was no sense of time how much they spent time in Los Alamos.
Like always Nolan's movie has of late got a real high music to the end that it has become difficult to hear the dialogues. If you don't have clear understanding of what happened from other sources, then the 1st half of the movie just felt like giving you an overview of the history but with a lot of jumps back and forth.
The 2nd half of the movie after the test gets better. They take time in scenes to develop a narrative enough before jumping to next scene.
I will definitely recommend watching season 1 of "Manhattan" tv show before watching the movie.
FBI: Sisterhood (2023)
What is wrong with Maggie
Maggie will go towards bullets to help strangers
But when it come to helping her own sister, she is always accusing her and doing barely anything to help her.
Forget that, she did not even suggest her sister to get A LAWYER when dealing with FBI
on top of that, she sent her own recovering sister into a situation where she can become drug adict or relapse.
What is wrong with Maggie? And then she accuse her sister even more.
Better to have no sister than to have a sister like her.
Also, Jubal knows how to behave with drug addicts, but knowing that he still put a recovering person into a difficult situation.
S.W.A.T. (2017)
gone down with less character development
The show shows that the team has usually 6 members and even if they are down 1 or 2 members, they just work fine.
Which goes on to prove that you only need 4 or 5 members per team and the etc person is just waste of resource.
Plus, no matter whats going on, it is just 1 team who is running around across the city from north LA to south LA. At this point, why keep other teams around when just 1 team can do the work.
Also, hando character is angry black guy and he stays like that entire series, not just 1 season, but entire series. No character development and he is always my way or no way. Rather than working on base root problem, he is going around angry broody guy who is cry if he does not get his way.
Chris-street was a good relationship, street had a nice gf, but the writers wanted to force love relation between them.
Continuum (2012)
save the protagonist, all other cops in the station are expandable
All the big companies are in located in Vancouver for some reason.
Up to season 3 it is still in line, but at what point the national law agency gets loop in. The national agency has no idea of the terrorist attack. The president/prime minister has no idea of 100s of people dying in the major city.
All other cops who have kids, wife, parents have no value as long as the protagonist can get to her family, 100s of cops can die leaving their family behind.
The resistant group who are here to change the future is using so much violence, that half the people consider them terrorist. I mean, they have better ways to save people with all the knowledge.
Black Adam (2022)
WWE has more story than this movie.
This is like watching Avengers without knowing who is Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Loki and why would we care for them or hate them.
The country is overrun by imperialist people, most likely American and for years Justice Society of America was like, yay, no problem, you go ahead. You know because Justice Society of America receive funding from American government who gets money from this imperial people.
But out of nowhere some woman remembered, "Oh Wait, there is this crown and champion" after 5000 years and knew the exact place and language to awake Adam and find the crown.
As soon as champion awake, Justice Society of AMERICA is like, we should treat everyone equally and everyone should be taken to court.
If some random woman knew that the crown will raise hell, why did she find the crown in first place?
Is Kahandan like ISIS where people are terrorist or it is like country of innocents. They put a boy to show the innocence in the movie.
A Million Little Things (2018)
if you are not dying or depressed, there is no storyline
The show has good characters, but if the characters is not dying or depressed, there is no storyline for them.
Every character has to have a depression, dying, or something worst happening.
Even the therapist knows how to help others, but when it is her own time, she will be cry baby.
The show is full or whining, my dady did not do that, the investor is after me, the social media is here to get me.
Also, somehow all the characters don't go to work (most of the time), but have big houses in Boston area, cars, and living luxury life.
David acting is good, but after Grimm, it looks like he is just boy toy between girls.
Also, everyone is family, except the real family. They treat their own brother, sister, father, mother like crap and then go on to celebrate functions with friends calling family. Treat your actual family like family first.
Grimm (2011)
really cheap handheld camera and bad cgi
The story line is decent. Not much into main character.
Why is he so special that everyone is afraid of him, after all people kill each other in the show anyway.
But the show fails big time with CAMERA work.
Very bad hand held camera, always shaking, no optical image stabilization or any thing. After a while your head will starts to hurt, especially in the fight scenes. Feels like someone is on the ship shooting the scenes.
CGI is bad too, but you can ignore that for a moment, but the Julliete character is written so bad. As for main actor, where did he learn special martial arts or anything is not shown or told.
-The way they killed Nick's mother off-camera was so underwhelming. She deserved a fight.
-Randomly made Julliet a witch. Nick went through the same transformation and he did not become a witch or anything.
-Besides seeing Wesen, Nick had no other superpower.
-The US government was so nice, they created a secret organization to kill all bad Wesen, instead of using Wesens in Iran or Afghanistan.
-The US government spent so much money, but they never tried to build super eyeglasses with which anyone can see Wesen. If they had built special eyeglasses, anybody besides Nick would be able to see Wesen.
-It is the 21st century, and the first thing Nick should have done was to digitize all the family Wesen books and uploaded them on clouds. I was thinking that from season 1 and finally Julliet destroyed the books.
-No explanation why the Zerstorer could not take the stick by himself. That was a nice loophole that Nick has to give him a stick.
-Nick has Alfred (Monroe and Rosalee) as a free encyclopedia. They have no job and do not get paid by the police for helping Nick, but are available all the time.
-Nick is a judge jury and executioner who will kill Wesen accidentally all the time instead of taking them through the trial.
-Robin (Hank and Wu) is always present and ready to follow Nick's lead, no matter if it is legal or not.
-Wesen community has grown nicely, some of them has built families and large empire/businesses, whereas Grimms are still going around killing Wesens, innocent or not, which is such a racist.
-The FBI and cops all wait to shoot the Wesen even when they show them and attack other cops/FBI, only to end up dying themselves.
-Juliet became Jean Grey from X-men with just a simple transformation even though she was not born with powers or she did not go through any process like Adalind when she was pregnant.
-Alfred (Monroe and Rosalee) has all the items in the world in their magical tea and herb shops and all the books and medical equipment for treating bullet wounds etc.
-Beside been rich, what is the role of the Royals is not explained. How a Royal child/blood is powerful is not explained and none of the Royal besides Captain Renard's face is shown beside that he is not able to do anything special but a creepy face. What is the point of having just a creepy face?
House of the Dragon (2022)
Alright, we got it woman had difficult time but a princess?
Yet another show on your face showing how the woman had difficult time in the past, but nevertheless she is princess, who had much better things in life than some guy living in the streets down there.
If the show had some story like GoT, where I was really cheering for daenerys targaryen before the S8, I would have loved it.
But the whole show had no story and just how girls were married away for kingdoms.
They should add some story lines. The first episode of GoT was much better than the 4 episodes of this series. Dragons are no more fun. They are like cats, everywhere now and some reason, the dragons are only limited to 3. Not sure why. I mean, they should have 10 or more 100 dragons.
Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
Good thing I watched this movie on my phone and not in theater
The movie is full of stupid jokes and humor. Doing parody and telling stories instead of showing stories.
This movie is below Iron Man 3. The phase 4 is completely going down.
Where is Dr. Strange or other Avengers on Earth. Why go to place full of Gods only to see dumpling god? Not a single God came out of there, so what was the point of going there. Thor could have contacted Captain Marvel or other Avengers.
Jane got the hammer and suddenly like Matrix she know how to kung fu too. When Thor can make kids worthy (which is taken from Shazam), why not use the same thing when fighting Thanos.
At the end, you can see just light CGI flying.
How is Jane breathing on other planets?
White Collar (2009)
cheesy, nothing new and so predictable
You have a late 20 or early 30 guy who is expert in almost everything. Like everything with no explanation, how he became expert.
Then he has few side kicks, who are smarter than, well everyone else and they offer their services for FREE.
The show is very is very straight forward and predictable. The hero takes the win by tricking everyone, knows about the most secret things even FBI is not aware.
The lines are so cheesy and corny. You can just watch the recap of every show and you won't miss anything.
All the beautiful model girls are around the corner, no normal woman around.
It is like superman show.
Physical (2021)
White woman 1st world problems
White woman 1st world problems
Show is okay, premise is boring and done so many times.
Nothing new here, keep walking or dancing (you know dirty dancing).
Shining Girls (2022)
writers got confused half way and decided to wrap series
The show had a lot of promise in the start. Acting was good too.
But looks like the writers got confused half way and decided to wrap series. Started with too many explanations and stories, but did not explain many of the choices or story lines. Maybe 2 or 4 more episodes would have been better, but show ended without answering all the questions it raised. I mean why raise those stories and points.
The show had a lot of potential.
Banshee (2013)
soft-porn with lot of plot holes and random camera fights
Almost every woman character has to show their chests. I guess that is the rule the director makes sure.
And almost each episode has long lenthy sex scene. Once or twice you feel the characters are romantic or something. But they overdid it.
And its with each woman.
Then there are long drawn out fight scenes, where the main characters do not suffer any concusion. In some cases, they get surgery in morning and in evening they are fighting like it was nothing.
The main characters without any special military training will go and beat the crap out of whole army.
People without any medical backgrounds treat bullet wounds and infection, like it is nothing.
The bad guys will talk and talk and talk and take long out plans to kill the main characters and always end up screwing the plan and main characters kill the bad guys in 1 dead shot bullet to head like they are olympic trained.
And there are so many loop holes. Like the main character takes the identity of a shierf, which is okay. But now the guys know all the paper works, procedures, everything without any police training. Like fighting is whole police training, especially when the guy spent entire Iphone launch age in prison, which means he should have very limited knowledge on how smartphones work.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)
season 8 ep 6 of GoT
The movie took the character arch same as season 8 ep 6 of GoT
forget the character buildup in Wandavision show and just make her goofy without explaining why.
Barry (2018)
killing LAPD officer in cold blood is not funny
Similar to Patriot TV show. But in Patriot, the main character is doing things for country to kill a dictator.
Here the main character had a PTSD and became HitMan.
Does that mean all the war veterans should become hitman to get rid of PTSD?
Also, when Barry kills an honest LAPD officer, the show lost its moral code.
Now it is just another hitman trying to justify his killing and I am sure all the drug dealer, criminals etc in the world have their own story and they will justify to do that. But when does the law comes in, when the hitman kills someone from your family or when he breaks the law?
The Killing: Blood in the Water (2014)
very disappointed how easy they let off a serial killer
For 3 seasons Linden claim to walk high horse, but when it came time to Skinner, she let him off the hook so easy.
The guy murdered so many innocent girls and many more he confessed.
But now the world will never know and he will not get the punishment he deserve, many families still won't get the answers, just because Linden decided to take matters in her own hand. Adrian could have known the truth that his dad was innocent of killing his mom. Also, in future cops don't use their powers like this, some reform could have been brought, but none of that will happen now.
The Killing (2011)
too many story lines going on
Show is good. Acting is good. But there are too many side stories going on.
If the character has been sidelined, the show is still pulling their stories, while the main crime story is getting distracted.
Each character has 2-3 storylines and many of them have no relation to the main crime-too many, etc episodes. It should be 5 or 7 episodes per season should be okay.
Second season and we still don't know what is driving the main character. Her own son is down with fever or drinking/smoking or cursing and yet she is working like 20 hr shift without any supervision to her own son. Not sure what is driving her for this case.
Also, there are no more cases in that big city for the next 2 weeks. All crimes are down.
Season 4 took a complete 180 turns on each character, all the character arc just went down and for no reason.
Season 4 murderer and her conspirator trying to be on the high ground and blaming everyone else and trying to blame others for murder.
The Good Doctor: Sons (2022)
dying dad take Uber and Go
Basically, the show is about a dying dad whose son don't want him to be in hospital because his colleagues ask him questions.
Dad as few days left and the son gives him Uber and says bye bye so he can attend a office wedding.
I mean, if you have to be cruel, how cruel you can and then you call yourself a Good Doctor.
The Fall (2013)
dexter without the character of dexter
Its a dexter show setup in Ireland, where the guy has no previous knowledge of crime scenes. He is setting himself up for having a s@x with minor.
Because there is not much story, so to stretch it, it has been made so slow.
Also, in dexter you loved the main character. In this show there is no affection for main character. He can be any killer, no one cares.
Lady cop character is setup good and that is what is moving the story, rest other cops have been set at intelligence level of 2 out of 10.
Line of Duty: Episode #6.7 (2021)
brillant show ended with worst climax
It was a brilliant show, but they missed their mark miserably when they attempted "The Usual Suspect".
Concerning systematic corruption, over the seasons they have shown so many corrupted cops. Yet, the politicians do not do any tv interviews, and the commissioner does all the interviews.
Identifying the real culprit with a typo. Ending without "urgent exit required.".
This brilliant series ended with a total let down by the writers.
The Rookie (2018)
Rookie who became Jason Bourne/Rambo
Series started good. Its watchable.
But somehow 46 yr old Rookie after a 6 month training became Rambo or Seal team level expert.
His fighting style, skills, even detective skills are way above Captain or seasoned officer.
LT is asking Rookie, what should we do?
Rookie is going to mexico in a covert operation, doing undercover work with gang members.
Rookie is taking done 10 skilled mercenary all by himself.
The Americans (2013)
made in 90s released in 2013
The show felt like it was made in the 90s and left on the shelf for a decade.
The show is good in itself. The concept is good. But felt very forced.
Looks like these 2 are the only couple who were sent here.
They are working on 2-3 projects/week running around. It looks like Russia forgot to send more
spies after the two main actors. The two main actors are supposed to be working for 20 yrs
and yet they are running around like rookies even when they have an FBI agent living across from them.
The Russian plans to use their daughter for 2nd generation and yet they blew up the whole thing by pushing
the two main characters for all the jobs.
Overall a good watch with a lot of loopholes.
