The Jungle Book (2010)
it's bad.
I've never watched the original jungle book, so I'll pretend as if it doesn't exist.
The show is about this kid named Mowgli who lives in the jungle with a puma and a bear named Bagheera and Baloo respectively. I don't know why but they're very protective of Mowgli, who is always being hunted down by a tiger named Shere Khan.
The plot for most episodes isn't actually bad, but they're not engrossing either, I don't really have a problem with that, but everything else I do have a problem with. The Animation is bad, it's ugly and lazy, Phineas and Ferb is just in 2D but it looks way more appealing and lively compared to this. Characters aren't memorable, sympathetic, or entertaining, they're quite flat and boring, but at least they're not annoying like Fanboy and ChumChum. Dialogue is awful, it sounds like the first draft of the episode, voice-acting is equally bad. Lastly humor of the show is pitiful, one episode they actually went with the old banana peel gag, where one of the characters simply slips, the way they did it wasn't even funny, it was too anti-climatic.
Overall the show just felt lazy and half-done, maybe I need to watch the movie so I can appreciate the show, nevertheless I didn't enjoy the show not because it isn't "my cup of tea" but because it's really bad-quality.
Fanboy & Chum Chum (2009)
it's a love it or hate it kind of show
I really hate this show, I really do, but that doesn't mean everyone else will hate it too. I'm a 15 year old dude who wanted to see how much cartoons have changed since I last spent a lot of time on the television. It's been a while and either I really have grown up or TV has gone downhill.
The Animation in my opinion is horrible, but I have a feeling kids are going to love it, the colors hurt my eyes, and I don't like how the characters are designed, I think it would've looked better in 2D where everything isn't all bulgy. The characters themselves are obnoxious, spongebob and patrick were stupid in their own special way which made watching their misadventures fun, I can't say the same for Fanboy and Chum Chum, it's a pain to watch Fanboy and Chum Chum's antics. Characterization isn't much either, Fanboy and Chum Chum are nearly identical when it comes to their personalities, and there's not much background to them, the teacher is boring, and so are the other kids, only one I find somewhat interesting is kyle, the sorcerer, but even he isn't well thought out.(it's a nonsensical show so no one should look too deeply into characterization.) Voice-acting is fine I guess, I really can't complain much. Plot is mediocre, most of the time something really crazy happens and you just watch the two boys do something stupid with it. Lastly I think Humor is bad, but that's just me, kids would love the slapstick the show has to offer, there is no witty humor in the show at all.
The show gets a lot of hate, but people should be reasonable, some shows back then were just as nonsensical, then again they weren't as annoying either, I think kids will love the show and how hyperactive it is. Adults however won't get into it.
Panti & Sutokkingu with Gâtâberuto (2010)
the animation is good, but the jokes get old
Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt is a unique, crude, show that aims to be obscene. The show does this by making perverted jokes every now and then, at first it's pretty funny, but they do this over and over again until it just got repetitive. They do this while making pop culture references and clichés, making really weird episodes. and there's not much story either. Well, there's some loose continuation, and later in the series they start introducing an actual villain, but again they just had to put in sex jokes and the like so it's hard to take the show seriously when it's actually trying to be serious for once.
The characters, just like the show, are unique. Panty is the whore and Stocking is a Goth chick who likes sweets, they're both angels and they aren't really into fighting bad guys because they feel like it, they're actually being punished for their unacceptable behavior. because of the situation Panty and Stocking are in, you'd expect awesome fight scenes, well, sometimes the fights deliver, sometimes they don't. Other than that the animation is superb, it gives off a power puff girls vibe, sometimes they even change it up a bit, and the soundtrack is pretty good. Believe it or not, the show actually has a moral, it's something like to be chaotic and wild is to be free.
The entire season 1 is only 13 episodes, and the jokes got tedious just when they introduced the main villain which is somewhere from 7-9. If you want something different, go ahead and watch this one, just don't expect to latch on to it.
