The Search (1948)
Extremely memorable
I first saw this film as a young girl, at about 13 years of age (circa 1955). I was so moved by the story, which had me crying buckets, that the next time I saw it was going to be playing again on the TV, I insisted that my Mother and Grandparents watch it too. My Grandfater had fought in WWI, and both of his sons fought in WWII. They too were in need of tissues when the movie ended. Over the years I've seen it several times, and every time it moves me to tears. Copious tears. It is very intense, extremely emotional, with the most perfect ending possible. I would recommend it to everyone, and even now, these many decades later, I remember this story as though it were yesterday. Not many films have managed to do that. Love it!
The Nameless Days (2022)
I enjoyed it!
I was weaned on scary movies. Dracula, The Mummy, Frankenstein. Stories that creeped into your dreams, but not so gory as to traumatize anyone. I guess the blood, guts and gore has a place, but I still prefer a story. This story worked for me. I'm glad that I ignored the naysayers.
Stranded (2013)
Not all that bad!
I'm glad I ignored most of the reviews here. But as a very few of them did give this film a chance I thought I could too. I'm glad I did.
I enjoyed the story from start to finish. Actually I thought it was a lot better than a few other "big" movies that everyone was all agog about at one time or other. Sometimes it pays to ignore all the naysayers out there. Occasionally you do find something better than expected and it's delightful instead.
The Giver (2014)
Delightful and moving.
I had no idea what to expect of this film, so I was pleasantly surprised by the story and emotionally involved long before the ending. I enjoyed it from start to finish, and I thought the conclusion was perfect.
Oasis (2017)
Interesting and entertaining
I love a good Sci-Fi film or series, and they are really hard to come by these days, and I don't know why. This pilot was a REALLY GOOD Sci-Fi and I would love to see more.
For me the pilot was too short, it definitely left me wanting more. The acting was excellent, the atmosphere was static, with the feeling that every time you blink something else is going to happen. I'm probably not very good at reviews, but I am sincerely hoping that this series will be picked up and at least given a chance.
The Dressmaker (2015)
Fantastic!!
What a surprise, a total gem of a tale. Not at all what I expected, but I am glad I took a peek, and stayed for the show.
Lots of drama one minute, laughing out loud the next, and it never stopped.
A young dress designer comes home to find out what happened when she was a child of 10 and sent away from her Mother right after the death of a classmate, and to reunite with her Mother. Sounds simple enough, right? Far from it though.
Fantastic cast of amazing characters. I can't say enough good things about this film. But I will say if you don't watch, you are missing a real treat.
