Poor Things (2023)
Disturbing
It's a disturbing movie with great dialogue, great costumes and set design. Did the sex scenes need to be that intense? What needed to be understood was already understood, so I found the fact that it relied so heavily on the female body very pornographic rather than artistic.
Emma Stone's acting and courage are on a whole different level. What impresses me more than anything else in films like this is the creative writing and the courage of people to say yes, I believe in this, I'm in this, after reading the script.
Overall, it was discomforting, uneasy (just like its music) and most likely unforgettable.
Bir Baskadir (2020)
Loved it!
It's been a while I haven't watch any series as good as this one and being Turkish I am so glad to see good Turkish stuff on Netflix beside mostly aimless Turkish comedy movies. I haven't watch anything else from the director or the writer yet I can't wait to see more.
Ise Yarar Bir Sey (2017)
It's like watching a poem
Basak Koklukaya is beautifully carrying her character in the movie and I am totally drawn by the poetic language of the film. Turkish's cinema is fed by their strong literature and that shows us you do not need to spend million dollars to make a good movie.
