The Music Man (2003)
Don't waste your time on this version
This is the most blah production of the Music Man. Mathew Broderick is fantastic as Leo Bloom in the producers but he's not a great Harold Hill. The film dragged and I stopped watching halfway through. I know other people who watched the whole thing and they said the second half is just as blah as the first half. Best version is the 1960's version with Robert Preston and Shirley Jones. Robert Preston brought so much life to Harold Hill. Matthew Broderick made the character dull. The dancing is okay but if you watch this version and wonder why people like this musical so much, watch the 1960's version and you will see why people love it.
Pride and Prejudice (1940)
Fun movie if you haven't read the books
If you are looking for a version that follows the book, has accurate costumes , this isn't it. The movie is fun but if you really liked the book then watch the Colin Firth version. The actors were also too old for their parts.
When Calls the Heart (2014)
Great show until season 6
When calls the heart is a show based on a book by. Janette Oke. The first five seasons are awesome but then it starts going downhill. Seasons 7 and 8 it turned more into a soap opera and less like the story by Janette Oke. The writing was terrible in season 7 and 8. If you are going to watch the show stick to the first 5 seasons and forget the others. Also when I watch a period drama I expect the costumes snd hair to look the period. Season 1 they did but after that they got lazy. Women at that time period never wore their hair down it was always up in a bun and at the time period it would have been the Gibson girl look, but after season1 the women just wore their hair down. Sometimes even the costumes didn't look especially period. Someone on Facebook said they were concentrating more on writing good stories. I said you can do both. Downton Abbey had great stories and the costumes and hair looked awesome . Avonlea another great show had great writing and the costumes and hair looked the time period. When calls the heart just got lazy. I recommend watching seasons 1-5, after thst don't bother.
Van Halen: Right Now (1992)
Great video with a great message
This is a fantastic video. I love the message it portrays and I love the music especially the intro. A little trivia. My cousin Carolyn Beug was the producer on the video and won an mtv award for it. Unfortunately she can't produce any more videos as she was on American Airlines flight 11 the first airplane to hit the trade center on 9-11.i had not seen my cousin since I was 9 so I didn't know until after she passed away that she produced this video.
New Amsterdam (2018)
More than just a typical medical drama
I was a fan of Marcus Welty MD back in the 70's , I was a fan of Trapper John MD and St. Elswhere in the eighties. I was a fan of ER and I love Greys Anatomy. As you can guess I love a good medical Drama. When I first saw the previews for New Amsterdam I wasn't sure how I would like it but after the first episode I love it. I am really hoping it continues for many seasons. The writing is excellent and I love the character development. Each week we keep learning more about the hospital and the people who work there. Each week you can't wait to see what happens with one characters story and you will feel like the characters are your friends and you want to know more about them. The cast is excellent and I agree with one reviewer, it's refreshing to watch a medical show where it's about doctors really caring about their patients and not about who they are getting into bed with. This is a medical drama that focuses on the doctors caring for their patients and not about sex with each other. I highly recommend this show.
The Orville (2017)
The Orville more like Star Trek than Discovery
I only saw the first episode of Star Trek Discovery and was not that impressed and from what I hear it's not an episodic show the whole season is just one long episode which is not how the other Star Trek shows were. Well I started watching The Orville and I love it. This is more like a Star Trek show than Discovery is. The writing on the show is fantastic , the actors are great. As each episode goes along it gets better and better. It's a very well thought out show that doesn't feel the need to be so PC. They just want to put on a great show and they do. Even the theme song sounds Like a Star Trek show. I also saw Brandon Braga is involved with this show and he produced Next generation , deep space nine and voyager so this show really does have a Star Trek feel. If you were disappointed in Discovery check out The Orville, you will love it.
