Daisy Jones & The Six (2023)
Absolute must watch!
This movie absolutely blew me away. I came away hoping this band really did exist because the characters and story lines were very plausible (which definitely was inspired by the highs and lows of Fleetwood Mac during their Rumors heyday). Even though the book only went so far, I'm hoping they can make a season two. I feel there's much more to tell about Daisy and Billy, especially since the very end left it wide open for a sequel of some sorts. There were no useless characters in this movie, everyone brought something meaningful to the table with this series and it's evident they spend a great deal of time making sure the music matched the era. The last episode will floor you and pull at your heartstrings. Make time to watch this series!
Led Zeppelin: Celebration Day (2012)
Wonderfully shot, flawlessly mixed.
As a die-hard Led Zeppelin fan, this was a bona fide treat to watch, especially since I wasn't able to be at the O2 Arena concert in 2007. The band redeemed themselves from their three largely forgettable reunion concerts they've done in '85, '88, and '95. Dick Carruthers did an absolutely fantastic job with this film. If this is the final ever Led Zeppelin concert, I'm content with it.
A Face in the Crowd (1957)
Amazing movie!
This movie is nothing short of amazing! What makes it really special is that the movie's premise is still relevant today. What also surprised me was Andy Griffith's performance. I grew up watching him as the lovable, local sheriff in a North Carolina town and that persona has stuck with me for years. His role as Lonesome Rhodes is a polar opposite of the Mayberry sheriff we've known to love. He is a drinking, loud mouth, womanizing creep who's addicted to the power and influence that he spreads throughout the TV screens throughout the country. It baffles me that he wasn't nominated for an Oscar because his performance pulls you into the movie like a thick nylon rope pulling around your waist. This movie is an underrated classic!
