The Bourne Ultimatum (2007)
Ultimatum is the Ultimate Thriller - Best of Summer 2007
Bourne Identity was great.
Bourne Supremacy was fantastic.
And Bourne Ultimatum is breath taking.
Easily the best of the three movies.
I was wondering if this movie can live up to the other two - in terms of action sequences and speed. It did. It remained true to the 'theme' of the first two movies.
I pray that Hollywood does not milk this franchise any more. Let this be the good ending to the character.
And just in case there is one more Bourne movie, let Greengrass be the director.
Hunting Camp (2005)
A Crystal Clear Cinematography
I had the honor of watching the premiere of Hunting Camp with about two hundred other people. The first that came to my mind after watching the movie was its crisp clean picture quality. The cinematography was top notch.
The story deals with the relationships of three men and a woman. After watching the movie one can only wonder how self centered our lives have become.
Compared to the director's last movie, Shakespeare's Dilemma, this movie was much better made. The acting, direction, and scene locations were very well thought of. One can only see the development stages of a soon-to-be-famous director from this movie.
A note of suggestion though. Story telling makes more sense when causes of events are explained well. A lot of events were assumed understood by the audience which at times made the story harder to comprehend. Also flash backs are better portrayed with a different color scheme, if not b&w.
I am eagerly waiting for Mr. Lyon's next production. The way he is improving, I must say that soon he will be a national figure.
The Manchurian Candidate (2004)
Liev Schreiber outdid Denzel Washington.
I went to watch the Manchurian Candidate yesterday, August 02 2004 at Cinemark's Tinseltown 17 Theatres on Peach Street in Erie, PA.
I went in with a lot of hope and expectations. I left unsatisfied. Only the night before one of the TV channels was showing the original 1962 movie starring Frank Sinatra, Laurence Harvey and Angela Lansbury. I could not focus on it for long because it could not grab my full attention. So I decided to skip it and watch the new one.
The new one with Denzel Washington seemed to have an "updated" story line than what Richard Gordon had written in 1959. There was no such thing as the Korean War, or China "programming" soldiers, or Angela Lansbury playing the KGB agent in this movie.
Just like Eric Bana seemed to have out performed Brad Pitt in Troy, Liev Schreiber seemed to have done the same over Denzel Washington. His emotional dilemma seemed to "radiate" from him. Audience could easily understand the confusion in him thats eating at him.
I would suggest you wait for the movie to come to a dollar theater near you or wait till the home releases come out.
Shakespeare's Dilemma (2003)
Felt Like a Classical Tune
I had the opportunity to watch Shakespeare's Dilemma with the makers and the casting members during its premiere. I must admit it was a new experience for me.
I remember feeling that the movie reminded me of a classical tune -- a slow beginning, increase of speed in the "body" and an ending that would make you long for more. I felt like it was more of a satire than anything else. I also felt like the writer and the director portrayed a very good and humorous picture of how real life office and internal politics go, and how somehow everything has a technical aspect to it nowadays. All of these were very well "wrapped" in a Shakespearean era theme.
The main thing I remember not liking about the movie was that the editing of the movie (individual takes and clips) seemed pretty obvious. But I am sure the enthusiasm by far covers for it.
I am looking forward to the premiere of the new movie.
I would recommend anyone who are willing to "taste" different things to check this movie out. I know you will feel refreshed after watching it.
The Bourne Supremacy (2004)
The Bourne Ultimatum on the Way?
I went and watched the Bourne Supremacy (BS : > ) on July 25 2004 Sunday, in the Cinemark Theater in Erie. I really liked the movie. I also liked the first one, the Bourne Identity (BI : > ). Because I liked BI, I was looking forward to watching the BS. And BS was good...
It started fast and moved on fast and if possible ended on a fast note too. Matt Damon played a very convincing spy with troubled memories but excellent "spy skills."
Beside Matt Damon I really liked the "bad guy" Kirill, played by Karl Urban. From the start he seemed awesome. I was thinking all the time when I was watching the movie, "where have I seen this guy before?" And then I found out -- he played Eomer in the Lord of the Rings! (to beat a different drum, I am crazy about LOTR)
Its almost certain now that with the huge box office success (BS already made about $60m in the opening week end), they will make the third and final installment of the Bourne trilogy -- the Bourne Ultimatum (BU). BU is the last Bourne story Robert Ludlum could write before he passed away on March 12 2001.
I hope you all like the movie and have a good time. I saw this film at Cinemark's Tinseltown 17 Theater on Peach Street in Erie, PA.
Spider-Man 2 (2004)
AWESOME! Spiderman appeared more HUMAN than a super hero.
I am a big spider man fan. So I knew even before the movie came out that I would watch it, no matter what. Also being a fan of the first movie, I was really looking forward to the sequel.
Our theater here in Erie, PA had a special screening at on June 30. They showed 4 shows at 12:01, 12:02, 12:03 and 12:04AM. I watched the 12:01AM show.
All shows were sold out and the crowd left after the money with the feeling of money well spent. It was a great movie.
The good things in this movie were,
1 :: Animations were more realistic than the first movie. 2 :: Story line was great. The people who writes most of Smallville episodes wrote the main story. 3 :: Almost all of the characters were developed in the movie. 4 :: Lots of reference to the first movie made it feel like we are watching a sequel and that their is a continuity. 5 :: The villain, Dr. Ock was more human than the Green Goblin. 6 :: Action scenes and special effects were great. Like Peter Jackson said, "special effects should come as a need for the story line and not the otherway round." 7 :: Spiderman himself came out to be more of a human than a super hero.
On the negative side,
1 :: I felt the movie was stretched a little for time. 2 :: In a span of 2 movies, we see MJ changing about 4-5 boy friends. 3 :: A lot of people including Harry, MJ and Doc Ock found out who spider man really is!
I would recommend everyone to watch this movie. Its great family fun!
The Chronicles of Riddick (2004)
AWFUL! DO NOT WATCH!!
Please do not watch this movie. I have never seen a more disgusting Vin Diesel movie.
Vin Diesel became more reknown when he turned down the offer for XXX 2 and Fast & The Furious 2. Then he accepted the offer for Pitch Black 2: Chronicles of Riddick.
As I like Vin Diesel, I thought I would like this movie. I watched it the day it came out in our theaters. I hated it.
Half of the movie I did not understand what was going on and who was running from who and who all the people were. If this makes me slow, may be I am. But the ending also was horrible.
If you get a free rental someday, rent it then. Until then, watch something else or may be wait for Spider Man 2!
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004)
Are you a fan of the book?
The third movie was very good.
However, if you are a fan of the book, then you will easily feel the "rush" in the movie to finish it. It lacked continuity.
Of the 5 books, my personal favourite is the 3rd book. So I naturally had high expectations from this movie. But I must admit, I was not excited about the movie after watching it.
The movie not only skipped a LOT of stuff, probably for time allotment I think, but also changed some stuff. For example, seeing Padfoot in the Marauder's map or Professor Snape showing up too early in the wimping willow showdown etc were not depicted as in the book.
Finally the kids are obviously growing up and it shows. We are used to seeing their childish faces and it seems like they are all grown ups now.
I also must add that Malfoy seemed to have almost no role in this 3rd movie!
Shrek 2 (2004)
You won't have a dull moment.! You don't need to watch Shrek 1 before.
I was not a big fan of Shrek 1 honestly. I liked 1 but I was not crazy about it like I am about Lion King or Beauty and the Beast.
But Shrek 2 is amazing! I would recommend any family to go and watch it together and have a wonderful time. You don't even need to know about the first one.
In this one, Shrek and his wife Fiona are invited to her parents' kingdom in Far Far Away to get blessings from her father, the king.
Thw whole kingdom was at awe when they saw these two Ogres. But the main problem starts when Fiona's Fairy Godmother blackmails the king to marry Fiona with her son - Prince Charming.
A very interesting character of a cat was created for this movie with the voice of Antonio Banderas.
Go in groups people and have a great time. You won't have a dull moment.
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003)
One of the best films I have ever seen.
Anyone who likes fantasy movies, and special effects should watch this movie. This is the only movie I have seen who's third sequel is the best of the three and who's first two installments are a must see also.
