No Exit (2022)
Major storyline issues
1. This movie gets boring really fast and the acting is subpar.
2. The kids disease where she can't get excited? She is literally excited the entire movie. She would've been dead at the very beginning.
3. There are the cringiest, eye roll moments. The main chick takes drugs to get hype to beat the bad guys? Super cringe. The one bad guy coming out with a nail gun and shooting it at the car like it's an automatic weapon. Get out of here.
4. And the three way shootout at the end. What?!
The end was the best part because she shanks the one guy and he was super annoying. I honestly don't know how people are rating this so high.
Malignant (2021)
Boring and predictable
How people are rating this so highly is behind me. It is completely predictable that it is somehow going to be the main character as the killer the whole time. The acting is terrible, especially by the research hospital doctors and police people. The special effects are "meh" at best. The fact that the "twin" is like a martial arts expert like flipping around all matrix style? Get out of here. This movie couldn't have been over with fast enough.
False Positive (2021)
The horror is this ...
The horror in this movie is that it even got made. This movie tried really hard to be Rosemary's Baby in its own way but missed the mark worse than a blind man in a dart competition. It has so many triggering moments for someone who has suffered miscarriage. It also tries to be artsy horror AND an Eli Roth style gruesome horror movie at the same time and it miserably fails at both. The final scene is the most ridiculous thing I have seen in a while. Not to mention it contains one of my movie pet peeves - multiple unanswered questions.
Things Heard & Seen (2021)
Bad movie disguised
This movie starts out semi promising. Wife with a secret. Husband who was uprooting his family to an ominous old farm house. And then it's like it kept wanting to throw in as much new plot points as possible. Was I focusing on the crappy husband? Or the ghosts? What about the former tenants of the house? BUT WAIT ... THERE IS MORE. It's too much. And in the end, NONE OF IT MATTERS.
I Care a Lot (2020)
Please don't waste your time.
I'm not even at the end and I had to write this. This movie starts off semi strong and quickly goes downhill. Rosamund Pike is basically playing the same character she played in Gone Girl. An insufferable horrible human that I didn't want to spend an hour and half with. And the fact that they think these two con artists would outsmart the Russian mafia is ridiculous. It's not funny on any way, shape, or form. It basically completely forgets about Dianne Wiest's character that was one of the reasons I was even drawn to it in the first place. And the whole root for the villain it is trying to get you to do? Who am I supposed to root for? The horrible woman who is conning senior citizens and holding them hostage in nursing homes? The Russian mafia boss who is importing women for drug mules? I'm pissed I wasted my evening on this.
Run (2020)
RUN away from this.
Sarah Paulson should have never tarnished her name with this stinker. It goes from 0-60 in a bad way. And don't even get me started on AAAAALL the botched medical aspects (and on a movie based on medicine, that's a big deal). I honestly don't know how I finished it.
The Houses October Built (2014)
Super boring
The premise of this movie is promising but it falls so short. There is no rhyme or reason for what happens and I was trying to look past that. They use the characters going through haunted houses to scare you so I basically felt like I was on many virtual haunted house tours. And, good god, that ending. It's like they couldn't think of where to go so they were just like HERE YA GO. I should've turned it off.
Away (2020)
But, seriously
How many tragedies can one mission to Mars possibly have?! Who built this ship that it's constantly falling apart?! And, I get we are supposed to be in a more tech advanced world in the time frame of this show, but being able to text from Mars?? Gimme a break! I can even even get good service when I leave the city to go into rural Kentucky.
Also, I realize this wasn't meant to be an accurate sci-fi show, but even as a drama it's boring AF. It rugs at your heart strings a few times but mostly I'm annoyed by everyone.
