Fargo: The Paradox of Intermediate Transactions (2023)
Episode 3 is 1st red flag of this season.
A little too preachy this episode & alittle too on the nose for the political shots. I also hated that they wasted half the episode explaining this Highlander type story line that really took away from the story & the momentum that was building. Typically I love Fargo because of the brilliant ensemble characters. But so far this season that is not what's happening, all we've got is John Hamm mumbling, incoherent, religious quotes. We still don't understand what his actual beef is. His son Gator is a terrible character. And yes I get he's a parody of the far right but again, a little too on the nose for me. I'll still be watching with high hopes but if this takes another bad turn I'll point at this episode as the start of it. Here's keeping fingers crossed.
Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)
Of all the Star Wars series to dumb down & make ultra kiddy
I kept hearing how great this series was! And it seems like something that would be more fun watching with your kids or little cousins or something like that. But from a strictly adult perspective it's bad. The acting isn't good, and since it's Disney, it feels as though they shoe horned certain characters just because they're kids, to appeal to their mostly kid target audience. Unfortunately the actress who plays Leia is really bad, her action scenes are even more terrible because they're so unbelievable. The whole thing just feels watered down, cliche & like it should be on a after school special. I'm greatly disappointed. Writing is bad, directing is bad, acting is sub par. It's like Disney knows you want to see this Star Wars lore but you got to pay the iron price, wasted time you'll never get back. Skip it unless you have kids.
How to Sell Drugs Online (Fast) (2019)
Tale of 2 seasons
First season is a solid 7 but the second season drops to a 5 easily. All the stylish editing & semi clever writing is all gone by the 2nd season. It turns into a cliche nightmare. Maybe more relatable for pre teens & teens.
Alita: Battle Angel (2019)
The Action in 3D makes it worth it
As long as you go into this KNOWING there will be some extremely cheesy lines & stereotypical twists & turns you'll be more than happy with getting your money's worth. I would absolutely recommend going to see it in 3D & honestly if I hadn't, I think my rating would have been closer to a 6. Some extremely beautiful CGI & action makes up for the target kiddy audience lines, jokes & etc. If only this could have been a little bit darker, it could have been something really special!
BlacKkKlansman (2018)
Best movie of the year!
If you don't find this movie funny, just know that your sense of humor absolutely sucks!! Without a doubt the funniest of Spike Lee's movements. I went to a sneak preview where we got to see a Q&A with Spike Lee & the cast where he went out of his way to say this is a movie to make you laugh & no matter how racist some of the humor might be, none of it's made up, these are actual words that have been used to demean others for decades! It's a good 2 hr movie but it never felt long & drawn out like some of Spike's other movies. I'd even pay to see this twice in theatre. Damn near perfectly done & will blow your mind that a guy with the history of David Duke is buddy buddy with our current POTUS
