Creed III (2023)

Great film!
2 March 2023
My spoiler free review of Creed III: Fantastic film. Had to chew on it overnight. It does a lot of things differently than the previous Creed/Rocky films. The drama is great and acting superb all the way around. The anime influences (particularly Hajime no Ippo) are felt in the fight sequences and makes them feel fresh. Worth the viewing in IMAX. You can almost feel every punch. I found myself on the edge of my seat throughout, and didn't feel like I let out my breath until the film was over. As a lifelong Rocky fan, I found I wasn't asking myself where Rocky was until the film was over. Hopefully the studio and Stallone can come to an agreement and Rocky's whereabouts can be resolved in the future....

The legend lives on...
25 November 2015
First off let me say that I have been a life long Rocky fan. With that being said I went into this film very cautious as almost the entire cast and crew were brand new. The trailers looked good, but today a good trailer is not necessarily an indicator of a good film. Sylvester Stallone killed it as a much older and more breakable Rocky. Michael B. Jordan's performance was as good if not better than Sly's. I think that from this day forward anytime I see Jordan, I will think of him as Creed and not whatever character he is playing. The story was engrossing and well thought out. The film pays a great amount of respect to the Rocky films while at the same time carving out it's own place in boxing film history. Honestly I have no idea how accessible this film would be to someone who's never seen a Rocky film, but I think the way the story flows it wouldn't be too much of an issue. Again, highly recommended.

Pretty good
20 November 2009
First off, I just loathe the people on here that are rating it one star without having seen the movie. One guy wrote a review and claimed he read "all eight books". I'm a 31 year old male, and I've read all four books. I enjoyed the first film a great deal. New Moon sticks to the book quite well, and is an interesting story. There is very little action, which is all fine and good, I don't think most people go into the movie with the expectation that this is an action-filled movie. The movie is pretty much all characterization, which is fine. I would recommend this film to anyone NOT looking to watch an action movie. All the actors are good. I am really looking forwards to Eclipse, and the battle of wills between Edward and Jacob.

Warning: Spoilers
I expected Transformers 1 to suck. I went to see the film out of nostalgia for my childhood(my parents would not take me to the 86 movie because they refused to pay for an hour and a half commercial lol). I went and really, really got surprised. I loved it. Therefore, I had the same expectation of ROTF. I read all the negativity before I went to see it, and discarded it as die hards being too critical. This movie was a big letdown. The plot had potential, but the humor was far too detracting to get anything really serious going. I don't mind shutting my brain off for two and a half hours to watch giant robots beat the heck out of each other, but the dumbed down humor in this film didn't even let me enjoy that. I would have to say that if I went in with my expectations for the first film I would have been mildly entertained, but I was let down. I was counting on this film to be my favorite of the season, and it just really felt like a mild headache. I predicted that they would kill off Prime again, but the film just dragged on without him. Of course they resurrected him in the same film which was like a slap in the face. All said and done I gave it seven stars, if it wasn't Transformers it would have been 5.

Twilight (I) (2008)

Interesting
14 December 2008
My fiancé' had wanted to see this movie and I had been putting it off for weeks. I consider myself a serious film goer, and had no interest in seeing a tween targeted movie. I do not know if it was because I expected to hate it, but going in with very little knowledge and low expectations I found Twilight quite enjoyable. The acting was surprisingly good, the setting was beautiful and the story kept me going. I would give it a solid B. If I had to give the film any criticism at all, it would have to bee that the Cullen family all looked too good. It was like a vampire supermodel convention. I was pleasantly surprised to see Peter Facinelli in this film, he has always been one of my favorite "under the radar" actors. All in all I would recommend this film as a great popcorn movie.

Different...yet somehow better
15 August 2008
I saw the first screening I could of this film. I am a die hard Star Wars fan and was really unsure what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I genuinely enjoyed the character development in this film. The characters were well fleshed out, and I find myself looking forwards to the TV show. All in all it exceeded my expectations, and I walked out happy. It was just all out, classic Star Wars. I would recommend this film to anyone who enjoys Star Wars, but I would not recommend it if you have not seen at least the first two chapters of the prequel trilogy. I would not recommend this film if you are just casually going to the movies.

Episode III is perfect
22 May 2005
Warning: Spoilers
I've posted and posted before trying to get people to understand that the new Star Wars movies are never going to be the old Star Wars movies. With this said, I think Episode III is the perfect film. I enjoyed The Phantom Menace, and loved Attack of the Clones, but then again I am a die hard Star Wars fan.

I will defend these films one more time before moving on. The Phantom Menace was an introductory story in a galaxy that has been peaceful for a long time, you are not going to have a dark film like The Empire Strikes back to start off with. Attack of the Clones moves in a darker direction, but is primarily a love story. I love Star Wars and with the notable exceptions of Harrison Ford and Sir Alec Guinness, Star Wars has never had great acting.

Okay, that's enough bantering on the previous films, Revenge of the Sith I feel perfectly blends the lines between old Star Wars and New Star Wars. The first half of the film is friendly and politics heavy (which is essentially one of the central themes of the new trilogy) as Palpatine sets Anakin up for his fall. Beginning with Mace Windu's death scene the film is darker and more intense than any Star Wars film previously. (Warning Spoilers Ahead) I literally sat there with my jaw on the floor as the Emperor brutally murdered Windu, and tears rolled down my cheeks as the Jedi are being slaughtered across the galaxy. I have never felt so much emotion during a film before.

Technically this film is cutting edge of course, the effects are crisp and vivid. (I can't wait to see this film in 3-d) Finally I want to say thank you to George Lucas for taking us on this one final adventure a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...

this movie is the worst movie ever
15 September 2004
Don't get me wrong, I love Batman. But this movie was not Batman. The movie is too lighthearted to be a Batman film. Not only that but that idiot Joel Schumacher took the greatest Batman villain ever (BANE) and turned him into a mindless beast. Bane was the only villain in Batman's history that was smart enough to beat him. He's a brilliant character in the comics, He and Batman are split right down the middle. If they were going to spend the money to get Schwarzenegger they might as well have had him play Bane (he looks the part) and done a series of three movies depicting the Knightfall trilogy. Oh well, that's enough bitching and moaning. At least Batman Begins looks promising.
