Brave (2012)
It was OK... Not great... 5 and unders may run screaming
I will start off with: I have 2 grand sons, ages 4.5 and 6 years old. Both are Autistic.
The youngest falls on the floor with guttural laughter in the beginning scenes of Finding Nemo... When Claire is attacked by the barracuda...
With that said...
I saw BRAVE in a theater PACKED with 4-8 year olds. For parents/adults... the movie was 'cute'... definitely no 'Finding Nemo'. The kids in the theater seemed to really enjoy the movie overall. There are a couple of funny 'bare bottoms' moments that adults and kids alike enjoyed.
Towards the end of the movie, there is a 'fight' scene including a couple of 'Bears'... When the scene was over... half of the kids were screaming 'YEAH!!!!' and half were just screaming... crying out-loud because they were so frightened.
So, if your child has difficulties with 'scary Disney confrontations', you may want to think twice before taking them... if your kids get it, or don't get the 'loud, scary fight scenes'.. you'll probably be OK... but seriously... the 5 and unders had a pretty hard time with the 'final' battle...
This 'final' battle is more 'violent' than the Claire vs Barracuda... and longer... just FYI
GCB (2012)
It's Just Plain Fun!
I will admit, I will watch anything with Kristin Chenoweth. Add to the mix Annie Potts... How can you possibly go wrong? After 'Pushing Daisies' was canceled... I figured no more Kristen on TV... Yeah, I was wrong! (Except for the occasional GLEE spots). Annie Potts... from Ghostbusters ("Whatta ya want?"), and Designing Women.. LOVE HER!!! The show has been promoted as a replacement for the now no longer 'Desperate Housewives'... I thought that to be a lame attempt at viewer ship... But guess what? It IS! I had to look online to figure out what 'GCB' stood for... once I found out, I was even MORE intrigued. I have seen every episode since it first aired and I have not been disappointed yet. It's funny, witty and touching. I hope it sticks around for a LONG time!
Merlin (2008)
Brits are TOO Hard on This Show!
I've been hooked from the very first episode. All the Brits complaining about the 'accuracy' need to realize... there are 100's of books and stories regarding Arthur, Merlin, Excalibur, Morgana, etc. Take it with a grain of salt and ENJOY what is truly a WONDERFUL series! My BIGGEST fear right now is that the U.S.A. affiliate showing the series (Syfy)won't continue... THIS show is a great 'have fun, leave the real world behind for an hour' break! The scenery, the dialog, the costumes... All of it is WONDERFUL! Come on 'Stiff Upper Lippers'... Just sit back and enjoy a good show! It's Fun, Exciting, Full of Adventure & Romance... not to mention a bit of MAGIC!!!
