Frankenstein Created Bikers (2016)
John Waters meets the Grindhouse on 35mm Film
Wow! I caught an advanced screening in Little Rock, Arkansas at a Comic Expo and it blew my mind. This is a nasty epic for sure. The film won an award for best screenplay that night and it was well deserved. The dialog is like a Russ Meyer film. It comes at you fast and full of innuendo. Every line, they are memorable, is laced with satire and venom. This movie is 100% jaw dropping fun. If you want to see a totally unique take on old school exploitation in the form of a dead biker creature feature film with great sound and a rocking score, this is awesome! Really impressive editing, writing, performances and tons of gory practical effects. No fake scratches and the 35mm cinematography was beautiful. One reviewer said there was rape and the female characters were there just to be naked. I highly disagree. There is no rape at all and the ladies in the film are strong, free-willed and tough as nails. They take care of business. Especially the fantastic actresses Tristan Risk. The guy from the human centipede movies is wonderful too. I highly recommend you find this film.
Father's Day (2011)
One of the best of 2012
This is an amazingly well crafted and funny homage that get's a 10 on the gore score. Unpredictable and inspired. The cast is very good and works well off each other. The scope is enormous for a low budget film. There have been so many retro style films coming out and this one like RUN BITCH RUN and DEAR GOD NO! brings more to the table than the one dimensional HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN and all the Tarrantino / Rodriquez clones. It's a pure DIY no holds barred, we don't care what you think, all out go for broke gem. When can I buy a copy? Why isn't it out? This future cult classic needs to be released. Are you listening Troma? Astron 6 needs their own television network. The world would be a much better place.
Dear God No! (2011)
We need more like this.
Caught this fine biker mash up at Cinema Wasteland where it brought a party to a packed screening room. Before my eyes it turned a bunch of sour faces into happy go lucky drunks. It was complete and total insanity. Anarchy at it finest. A kick in the groin to big budget films this one unleashes unholy fun in the purest sense. It was a rowdy experience that gave the audience the most authentic time travel I've ever seen. The cast and crew were on hand to shake things up with sleazy skits and old fashioned hype. The biggest surprise was how nice and approachable these guys were. For being such dirt bags in the movie, they hung out all night talking film, making jokes and giving me free beer! The lead actor Jet even sang Meatloaf through a megaphone! Good voice too! They are total rock n roll, beer and film nerds and deserve all the praise they are getting. I can't remember having such a good time. It was the talk of the weekend and didn't disappoint.
