Ban-doo-bi (2009)
Sometimes life offers unlikely encounter in unusual way!
Hey! Want to hear a story about a Bangladeshi boy and Korean girl? Here it is. An unlikely friendship. What happens? I am not going to tell you. Watch the movie and find out.
What I am going to tell you is, don't watch this movie expecting all the usual outcomes that happens in a movie. Prepare your mindset to be carried by a beautiful blue ride of humane relationship and cultural encounter. Find out what life has to offer in a very unusual way.
Movies tell story. This movie is an independent film with low budget. But it is an amiable story about simple emotions of ordinary people.
Being a Bangladeshi, I might be a little bit biased towards the movie. But that is what I felt.
Defending Our Kids: The Julie Posey Story (2003)
Watch this movie before you are a victim. Enlightening movie.
Internet is not a fantasy. It is a reality. A new type of reality. You may not be ready for this, but it is out there. There are sexual predators out there. They are not only after your child, but they also can haunt any simple minded woman. Internet is already a dangerous place. This movie is enough to make you aware before it is too late.
Additionally this movie is a very nice family movie which focuses on relation between wife and husband, mother and daughter, father and and daughter. Really enlightening.
I loved this movie! I was really shocked seeing it underrated. This movie is a serious true story. But this is not gloomy story. It is interesting.
Hotel Rwanda (2004)
A disturbing truth.
I saw this movie while serving in UN mission in Ivory Coast. I saw this movie because it relates to another UN mission in Africa.
I really did not know much about Africa and its people. This movie helped me to get closer to the African problem.
It is really hard to believe that diversity of ethnic group is a curse rather than being a blessing in Africa. Surprisingly they don't fight for religion, what we see in South Asia. But they fight for ethnicity. Ethnic division was not that big problem before europeans arrived here. But now this issue has captivated whole Africa.
The movie tried to avoid graphic violence and tell a sort of family story. It mainly focused on the love and commitment of a man to his family and to his community. But in the process you see a brutal genocide.
The killings were more brutal in reality. The whole history was more brutal. You can at least sense it through this movie.
You will feel more attachment to the people of Africa. Africa is no more a place what you see in National Geographic. It offers more than just colorful ceremonies of animists.
I sincerely thank the people who worked for this film.
Double Bill (2003)
If you run after two hares, you'll catch.......
Psychoanalyst Bill Goodman believes that married to one woman is nice but boring! Quite conflicting, isn't it? The conflict comes to action when he is married to two woman at the same time but both don't know it.
It was fun watching!
You may not come to a conclusion that monogamy might be the answer for all of his miseries since polygamy is practiced in many parts of this world and accepted by their societies. But you will agree for sure that, when handling one woman is tough then going for two is......... you know better...
One Hour Photo (2002)
A beautiful movie
The movie is worth watching. It is a very good movie with perfect acting and directing skill. The story is also unique. When you have finished watching the movie you might still find yourself thinking about the story of the movie.
Robin Williams is a guy working in "One hour photo", a photo shop. He is obsessed with the perfect married life of one of his regular customer. But with a shock he finds his imagination of perfect life of that customer is false. He gets shocked and takes unusual revenge on husband of that customer.
In the movie peoples seemed happy in their photos. It made the photo guy believe that, they are happy and having a beautiful life. But the truth is, "The best part of the beauty is what no picture can express." So when he went more close than the visual appearance of those people then he saw that the real beauty of their life is missing.
