Cosmoball (2020)
1/10
Avoid at all costs.
7 February 2021
Cosmoball is a bad movie. I wasted 2 hours watching this Russian sci-fi movie. The movie had a unoriginal plot. The acting was bad. The dubbing is bad and the CGI is bad. It was a complete waste of time. I give it 1/10. Avoid at all costs.

Oliver Harper is the new Barry Norman.
1 July 2017
I've been watching Oliver Harper's Retrospective/Review videos for sometime. I think it's a shame he has not been discovered by the BBC, ITV and Channel 4 and not offered his own segment on a TV program which he does reviews of movies, video games and TV show or his own TV program. I describe Oliver Harper as the new Barry Norman. Oliver Harper is a natural reviewer and critic and his reviews and presentations are spot on and his editing is outstanding, especially when editing together scenes for the film as the trailer before he gives reviews on the films and he points the flaws of the film and what they could had done better and is not afraid to give his honest opinions of the films. I hope in years to come, Oliver will do not just reviews of films from the 1980s and 1990s, but films from today and more reviews on TV shows. I like to see him do reviews on films such as Mannaja (1977), Strings (2004), Nemesis (1992), 9 (2009), The Disappearance of Alice Creed (2009) etc. If you love movies, I recommend you watch Oliver Harper.

Suicide Squad (2016)
1/10
Truly One Of The Worst Films of 2016.
8 April 2017
I am sorry to say that I gave Suicide Squad the thumbs down. Like Batman VS. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Deadpool and Ghostbusters, Suicide Squad is truly one of the worst films of 2016. It was no better, no worse than Batman VS. Superman: Dawn of Justice. It was not a very good film. Will Smith and Margot Robbie gave good performances and Margot Robbie really got into character as Harley Quinn and she very much the role her own. Jared Leto was an Okay Joker, but he tried too hard to top Heath Ledger's performance. Jai Courtney is truly one of the world's worst actors and again gives another average performance. The cast didn't have a good on-screen chemistry. The film was a mess. It very much ripped off Guardians of the Galaxy and The Avengers. Ben Affleck and Ezra Miller's cameos as Batman and The Flash were wasted and wasn't enough to save the film. What a shame! Suicide Squad could had been better. It is one of the worst films of 2016 and one of the worst films we've had in the last 7 years.

Blade Runner for a new generation.
7 April 2017
Ghost in the Shell is a great film. Ghost in the Shell is Blade Runner for a new generation. Scarlett Johansson gave a good performance as The Major and Michael Pitt, Juliette, Binoche, Takeshi Kitano and Pilou Asbaek all gave good supporting performances. Scarlett Johansson was well cast as The Major. The film had a good story. It reminded me of Blade Runner, The Matrix and Aeon Flux. It was like all 3 movies were rolled into one. The action sequences were not awesome and the film was slow. I believe it was more story, than action. The film deserves an Oscar nomination for it's visual effects. Weta Workshop did an outstanding job and the visual effects and the computer animation were outstanding. The Major's bodysuit, the Thermosuit, I have never seen anything like that before and the sets were amazing. I believe Blade Runner was a major influence behind the film. The music was good and it gave the film a dark and depressing tone. Don't take my word for it. Don't listen to what the critics say. Go and see it and decide for yourselves.

One of Karen Gillan's best performances.
26 March 2017
I think it is a real shame Not Another Happy Ending did not get released in New Zealand and that there are people out there who disliked the film. It is a good film. Okay, it's not a classic, not a great film, but it is still a good film. Karen Gillan is such a brilliant actress. So far, there hasn't been anything that I've seen her which she has not given a good performance. Rebus, Doctor Who, We'll Take Manhattan, Oculus, Guardians of the Galaxy, Bound For Greatness, Selfie and now Not Another Happy Ending. She has given nothing but good performances. Not Another Happy Ending is one of her best performances and she gave her best. I really don't blame Karen Gillan for being nervous for taking her clothes off on screen, but for what it's worth, she has a great body. Stanley Weber was a good choice to play the male lead Tom whom is an anti-hero. I thought the character was not likable and he was such a jerk. Good film. If you are fans of Karen Gillan and if you enjoyed Hotel Chevalier, Selfie, There's Something About Mary. I recommend this film.

Under the Skin (I) (2013)
1/10
Scarlett Johansson's Worst film.
26 March 2017
Under The Skin, the 2013 science fiction horror thriller starring Scarlett Johansson as an extra terrestrial whom arrives on Earth in the form of a beautiful young woman and drives a van through the roads and streets of Glasgow, as she stalks, seduces and prays on unsuspecting lonely men is one of the worst films ever made. Scarlett Johansson usually makes good movies, but this film is defiantly her worst. The film is really boring. It is really slow, dark and quiet unsettling. You don't miss much. Scarlett Johansson gave an average performance. I liked her in The Island, The Avengers, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Lucy and Captain America: Civil War. But she didn't give a very good performance in this film. Some of the images in the film were disturbing and like I said, the film does get quiet unsettling. Scarlett Johansson gets naked a lot in the film. It wasn't that scary. Under The Skin was not one of Scarlett Johansson's best performances. A really slow, dark and quiet unsettling 1 hour/48 minutes.

Average. Not A Great Movie.
25 March 2017
Ghostbusters was average. Not a great movie. Kristen Wigg, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnion didn't have good on-screen chemistry. The acting was bad. Melissa McCarthy and Kate McKinnon were annoying. Jillian Holtzmann (McKinnon) looked as if she could had been the offspring of Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis and her character behaved like she had ADHD. Chris Hemsworth provided some good comic relief and he did have his moments. The film had some good nods and references to the original film. Some of the film was funny, but silly and some parts of the film I did find funny and did make me laugh. The film wasn't scary. Only 1 scene made me jump. The ghosts weren't scary and Slimer was badly computer animated. Ghostbusters is defiantly not one of the best films of 2016. I didn't think think it was as bad as Deadpool and Batman VS. Superman: Dawn of Justice. But it's defiantly one of the worst films of 2016. It lacks the magic of the classic 1984 film and it could had been better.

Logan (2017)
10/10
The Best Film of 2017 So Far. Jackman and Stewart deserve Oscar nominations.
23 March 2017
Logan is the best film of 2017, so far. The darkest and most violent X-Men film ever. It's dark, violent and emotional. Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart both deserve to be nominated Oscars for their performances which was outstanding and newcomer Dafne Keen made an impressive acting debut as Laura Kinney/X-23 and she was fantastic in the part. The film was pretty hard to watch and the world of Logan was really dark and depressing and it shows you how cruel life and the world is, especially how bad the world in real life has gotten and how much rubbish people like Donald Trump, the drug lords, corrupt politicians and terrorists are giving to the world. However, I was real confused about if the film took place in the original or the reset time-line. I am glad Deadpool didn't appear in the film or made a cameo, he would had ruined it. If you plan on going to see Logan, I strongly advise that you bring tissues with you to the cinema, the real gets really emotional. Hugh Jackman gives the farewell you will never forget.

Great film. The best western since Mannaja.
23 January 2017
Warning: Spoilers
In a Valley of Violence is a great film. The best western since Mannaja. In a Valley of Violence, Ethan Hawke stars as a former soldier turned drifter whom sets out to get his revenge on the arrogant son of a town marshal when he kills his dog, after the marshal orders the drifter to leave town and his son disobeys his father's order to leave him alone, after the drifter beats him up in a fight. The film reminded me so much of First Blood and John Wick. I believe In A Valley of Violence to be a remake of both films. The cast especially Ethan Hawke, John Travolta, Karen Gillan and John Ransome all gave outstanding awesome performances and I think both Karen Gillan and John Travolta deserve to be nominated for Oscars for their supporting performances in the film. Karen Gillan stands out the most as Gilly's snobby wife Ellen. The film's main antagonist Gilly is truly one of the nastiest characters in cinematic history and he truly deserved to die. In a Valley of Violence is truly one of the greatest westerns ever made. 100 minutes of entertaining, brutality, blood and violence. If you enjoyed westerns such as Hannie Caulder (1971), High Plan Drifter (1973), Mannaja (1977), Django Unchained (2012) and The Magnificent Seven (2016) and if you are fans of Ethan Hawke, John Travolta and Karen Gillan, I recommend this film and I think it's worth adding to the DVD collection.

Nerve (I) (2016)
10/10
A Crazy and Dangerous 92 minute crime thriller.
1 January 2017
Nerve is a real classic. A really good film with a good premise. In Nerve, Emma Roberts stars as a young woman whom is in talked by her snobbish best friend (Emily Meade) into playing an online truth and dare game, which players are dared into pulling crazy and dangerous stunts, which they win prize money. But, she soon finds her life in danger when she crosses paths with a another player (Dave Franco) and soon learns the terrible truth behind the game and she becomes manipulated by the people behind it and the challenges and the stunts become more and more dangerous. The film reminded me of Crank starring Jason Statham and it reminded me of the Stephen King novel The Running Man. Some of the stuff the main characters do in the film were downright Ludicrous and dangerous. It was one of those films which keeps you guessing about what is going happen next. Emma Roberts gives an outstanding performance and Emma Roberts and Dave Franco have good on-screen chemistry. The editing and the pacing is sensational. The film had good visual effects and the soundtrack is superb. The film has a good message and it teaches us about the dangers of online gaming and social media. All in all, Nerve is a really good film, if you enjoyed films such as Crank, Saw, Run Lola Run, Gamer, The Game and Turkey Shoot, than I highly recommend Nerve.

Doctor Who: The Return of Doctor Mysterio (2016)
Season 10, Episode 0
3/10
Not one of the best Doctor Who Xmas Specials Ever Made
28 December 2016
Warning: Spoilers
The 2016 Xmas Special of Doctor Who was disappointing. After waiting a whole year for Doctor Who to return to our screens in 2016. Doctor Who doesn't return with a bang. The Xmas special was not great, it was average. It wasn't as good as the previous Christmas Specials Last Christmas and The Husbands of River Song. It is a bit slow in places. But I found it predictable and it was obvious what was going to happen. It was obvious the boy Grant grows to become The Ghost and that the ruby he swallows gives him his powers. I thought The Ghost was a obvious nod to another comic book strip character The Phantom. In the comic strips, The Phantom is called "The Ghosts Who Walks". It had some goods, but despite the pacing, Peter Capaldi, Matt Lucas and Justin Chatwin's performances which were good, it just wasn't enough. Steven Moffat is a great writer and I don't think The Return of Dr. Mysterio was one of his best work on Doctor Who. Apart from the Xmas special, I shall look forward to Series 10 and I hope it's going to be amazing.

Deadpool (2016)
1/10
One of the worst movies I've ever seen in my life
7 July 2016
Deadpool is one of the worst Marvel comic book movies ever made and one of the worst films and one of the silliest films I've ever watched. It was silly and over the top. The action was crazy, the language was really bad and it was rude. It was a load of crap. After an hour of watching the film, I gave up on it and 80 minutes into the film I stopped watching the film. I completely lost interest in it and I got fed up with it. Although Ryan Reynolds really suits the role and was born to play Wade Wilson/Deadpool, the character was really annoying and he was a real pain in the ass and a bit of a knob. Deadpool was no better, no worst than Crank 2: High Voltage and Iron Man 2 and 3. What a waste of 80 minutes! I am glad I didn't go and see it on the big screen. I give it two thumbs down.

Great film. The best Terminator film since Terminator 2: Judgement Day.
5 July 2015
Terminator: Genisys is great! It is a great film and in my opinion, I think it is the best Terminator film since Terminator 2: Judgement Day. Arnold Schwarzenegger was once again great in the role of The Terminator. Emilia Clarke was brilliantly cast as Sarah Connor and she did a really good job and she is really pulled it off and Jai Courtney gave an average performance and he looks nothing like Michael Behin. The film had good writing, good laughs. A couple of nods and references to the earlier films. Emilia Clarke has potential to be Lara Croft in the reboot of Lara Croft: Tomb Raider. The film was a good comeback for Schwarzenegger. I think Terminator: Genisys was way better than Terminator: Salvation, which as far as I am concerned is the worst Terminator film. If you are a fan of the Terminator franchise, I highly recommend this film.
