The Incredible Hulk (1978)
Stands the test of time!
Let me begin by saying I discovered this show 14 years ago at the age of 13. It had long been off the air before I was even born. The first episode I came upon while channel surfing was Season 1's The Beast Within. It was summer vacation and I thought why not watch something new? I had never been one for comics and superheroes but figured I would give it a chance. I was instantly taken in by the characters and storyline. That summer I watched as many of the episodes during the Hulk marathon that I could. It may have been an older show but it was new to me and I got caught up in the tragic tale of David Banner.
As the years went by, my love for this show got me into Marvel characters and the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now I am a die-hard Marvel fan and it all began with this show. Bruce Banner is still my favorite Marvel character to this day.
The story of David Banner is a tragic one, always on the run, and typically alone. Yet he remains a kind individual who helps whoever he can whenever he can. That always struck a chord with me. Bill Bixby portrayed that type of kind and caring character so well, and Lou Ferrigno is fantastic as his alter-ego.
Even 14 years later, I love revisiting The Incredible Hulk when I have the time. I truly believe the show stands the test of time and is still so important to the foundation of the MCU as we know it today. This show even influenced the direction the MCU took with the Hulk's origin. It is still relevant to this day and that is all thanks to Kenneth Johnson and the amazing writers, producers, directors, everyone who contributed to this series who believed so much in it and made it work. I know I will still be rewatching this show even 50 years from now!
Here Come the Co-eds (1945)
Great when you need a laugh!
I'm a big fan of Lon Chaney Jr. (The Wolf Man, Of Mice and Men, the Inner Sanctum Mystery films) and after watching Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (1948) starring the trio I decided to watch this film. I laughed through the whole thing! It was the perfect movie to put me in a great mood! Abbott and Costello are great as always and Chaney Jr (as the duo's supervisor Mr. Johnson) dealing with Lou Costello's antics had me literally laughing out loud. The scenes with Lou and Chaney in the bedroom and the wrestling scene were my favorites. I highly recommend this film if you need a good laugh!
