Chernobyl (2021)
Boring, not good & unrealistic
Boring & not good:
The pace is slow, the editing is slow, the tension is poor, the romance is poor. You are suppose to feel for this couple but I have no emotional connection with him, who is a big selfish ...person. Although the kid broke my heart and he was the best actor in the whole thing. Olga was good too and very convincing...but that's about it.
Expecting a heartbreaking & terrifying story telling. None of that happen.
It's the biggest man made disaster in history and it's relegated to a mere back story.
Who are the people at the end ? That archive footage is weird and out of place. I understand they are liquidators but even though the film is dedicated to them, the whole story is not based on liquidators, it's based on a selfish man who takes no care for his family and keeps leaving his lovely woman & kid for a bit of unrealistic heroism.... He's not a liquidator. He's the director who wants fame acting in his own movie, scoring a lovely looking girl. Good for him...but he wasted my time !
Unrealistic:
-The main character is a super hero! At first, he was at the bottom of the exploded reactor to help his friends, went through corridors helping more friends, comes out unscathed, bit of ash on the face...grand ! Then gets better when he wakes up after a hangover, he's landed into the "action" for some reason (as you do when you wake up as a retired fireman who did nothing...) and goes in more radioactive corridors, with direct exposure to radiation, then volunteers to go dipping in radioactive water...at 60C...twice... I'm no scientist but I don't think anybody doing this once would be physically able to do that a 2nd time. Or even put your hand under hot tap water is about 45/50 deg C and it's impossible to sustain the heat. But maybe i'm too soft...
The nice "loving" girl at the end gives him a radioactive hug and she is fine.... no bother...
Honestly...it's a waste of time. For me only the kid deserves attention.
The Mandalorian: Chapter 16: The Rescue (2020)
Bravo !
This IS Star wars... this should be canon. Not TROS,
THIS ! Bravo Jon ! BRAVO !
and the Peyton for directing. Simply Amazing.
Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
Not worth it and very disappointing,
After I saw it in cinema, I was very disappointed, nothing made sense.
How is Palpatine back ? if he was the ultimate baddy, why did he send a broadcast? he could have done a surprise attack without telling, as he was hiding for so long...and why give 16 hours notice? doesn't make sense...
Chewie exploding mid-air...and no ! He's alive.! I guess he must've taken another transport...that's very convenient, even Poe seems surprised !
The dagger and the way finder...what are the possibilities of being at this exact spot? Wayfinder wasn't hard to find really bit of climbing, enter the throne room and voila ! the door opens.....and also, I thought the death star exploded in billions of particles (i.e. return of the jedi...) ? How a big chunk was magically preserved on this unknown 9useless) planet? And the force heal...why some amazing jedi master never used it before this "nobody scavenger" ? How ? so many holes...I could go on...
I watched it again on Disney+ and I thought it would be better, my mind would be more open but no...still a wreck... can't redeem it.
My 9 year old son sat with me and watched it for the first time. He didn't know anything about the plot or the big reveal... he was interested by few bits alright (explosion, Tie fighters...etc) but the best summary of this mud pile was his reaction, about half way through he stopped and asked me :
- I don't understand ! There's no link between episode 7 and 8 ....
- and why is it called the rise of skywalker...there's no Skywalker....
Homeland: The Litvinov Ruse (2015)
Nerve wrecking but superb !
Oh boy ! What an episode ! I was on the edge of my seat for 50 mins, my palms sweating, jittering. It was a great show in terms of story telling, edginess, wit, twist... superb!
However it stays with you for a while, lingers in your head. Psychological thriller at its best. After what happen in Paris recently, you really keep thinking that ALL OF IT is plausible and there are factions in Europe that are surely thinking about ...That... Is scares the hell out of me.
Danes & Patinkin are back the "dynamite" duo and the tension is palpable, you out to love them, despite her always saying a word to many and him being a cuddly hard a*s. But the palm MUST go to Rupert Friend (Quinn) who is a genius actor. His character is bruised, battered and more... You really feel for him and all is torments. If the tension goes any higher, I will need to get blood pressure pills...can't wait for next week...or can I ?
