John Mulaney: Baby J (2023)
The Kid is Back!
I have not laughed this hard with and at Mulaney since New in Town. From the start he comes in strong, no easing you into the awkward on this one. His talk of which grandparent is best to kill in order to gain attention at school was matched in its cringy genius by his interaction with an 11 year old boy in the audience.
From the talk of his star- studded intervention and the creepiness of a serious Fred Armisen to his cocaine-fueled rant in a 2020 GQ article, the jokes were a treasure trove of the weird, the sarcastic, and the delightfully inappropriate.
Glad I watched this one alone because if I wasn't snorting, I was absolutely sobbing tears of laughter. The bit about pawning the Rolex almost caused a hernia.
Harry & Meghan (2022)
Not the best, but these reviews are biased
Decent, interesting documentary and important look at the racism inherent in the U. K. & the British Royal Family. It's one thing to think of that much hate being cast on Meghan back in 2016 with the press stirring the pot, but quite another to see so many of the reviews here. A lot of you are going to extreme lengths to hate on this woman that you've never met... including spending the time to hate-watch a multi-episode docuseries. From someone with no preexisting opinions coming into this documentary (I had never paid attention to the tabloids because I have no real interest in the Royal Family) - it's not a great documentary, but it is also not a bad documentary. And a lot of y'all need to find a new hobby.
