Superman Returns (2006)
Met each and every expectation and then-some
I gotta say, I went into this movie with the highest of expectations. And one plot point withstanding, it met them all. When I first heard most of the casting I was disappointed, I couldn't see Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor, or Kate Bosworth as Lois Lane. Both of them blew me away. Brandon Routh made a fantastic Clark Kent, though his performance as Superman left me with a little to be desired. All in all however, I was most impressed by our young reporter wannabe Jimmy Olsen, Sam Huntington somehow managed to steal each and every scene he was in. The story concentrated a lot more on the tension between Clark/Supe and Lois Lane, rather than the hero/villain action involving everyone's favorite hero and Lex Luthor. But this seems to be a growing trend among the super-hero movies in general. And it was in no way a bad thing.
One final point, the Spiderman3 trailer rolled, gotta say it's the first time I've seen it, and unless I've missed something big, I think it's the first time it's been shown. Gotta see that one too.
Pet Sematary (1989)
Honestly, the best horror EVER
Honestly, this is the greatest horror movie ever to be made. I won't say it's the only horror movie that's ever scared me, because I was young once too. But the fact is that this is the only movie that's ever had any lasting effect on me. I'm 18 now, and i still get creeped out watching it, the whole thing just has an incredible creep factor to it. The only thing better than the movie itself is the book, read it. And see this movie, over and over and over again. So many people out there will go on and on about how the whole thing is so unrealistic and could never happen, but that is the whole point of movies, this one is without a doubt one of the best I've ever seen. And I'm sure that it will still find a way to keep creeping me out no matter how old I grow.
Delta State (2004)
what the hell is this crap?
I watched this show on teletoon for the first time a couple of nights ago, because there was very little to do otherwise. I immediately regretted it, the animation was the worst that I have ever seen, the characters looked like their noses had been cut off, and that one guy with the green and yellow striped shirt... that hurt my eyes, the lines never moved along with the shirt, so it looked like the lines were shifting around constantly. The story made absolutely no sense at all, 4 kids have sleeping problems, so all of a sudden they can travel through space and time, and change peoples lives from "drifters" that possess their bodies. Don't get me wrong, I like fantasy, but this is one hell of a stretch even for me. There is no way this show should ever have been aired.
Donnie Darko (2001)
Absolutely Incredible
Donnie Darko is by far the best movie i have EVER seen. It involves a lot of thought, unlike half the crap out there with nothing but explosions and car chases. There is no way anyone could watch this movie, and at the end not think about what happened, and what tiny factors could be effecting the time-line of their own lives. Sure we may not see a demonic rabbit, but the fact is that this movie makes you think, whether you want to or not. If you're looking for a great movie that is incredibly different from the conformist junk readily available this movie is definitely for you. Even if you're a fan of the cookie-cutter films that Hollywood is turning out everyday I still suggest you check this film out. The only people I've ever known that didn't like this were people who hated having to think about something. Either way, at least give it a chance, I had my doubts originally, but after seeing it on Space, I went out and bought it, it quickly became my favourite movie of all time.
Curse of the Talisman (2001)
Better than it gets credit for
This movie has been getting a lot of bad reviews on here, I watched it last night and don't understand why. For a bunch of nobody's the acting was better than average, except for the priest who was dull and uninspired. The story was more original than most horror movies out there, and the animation on the gargoyles was a lot better than other movies with similar monsters. It may be due to the fact that I watched the movie between 1 and 4 a.m. with little sleep, but I actually thought it was fairly good, and better than most other horror movies. When I compare this to many other horror movies it is plain to see that this stands above many others. All in all the movie doesn't get the credit that it deserves, not great, but still good.
