The Ren & Stimpy Show (1991–1996)
Gross-out comedy at its finest.
8 August 2004
"Ren & Stimpy" is by far one of THE grossest television shows ever, but unlike most shows that try to be gross, this show is pretty damn hilarious. This great show lasted for only five seasons; however, Nickelodeon fired the show's creator, John K., thus seasons 3-5 pretty much sucked when compared to seasons 1 & 2. Despite Nickelodeon showing this series, it really wasn't for kids anyway, especially in this crappy PC environment that plagues today's television. My recommendation is to check out seasons 1 & 2 of this brilliant show. Fortunately, there will be a DVD set that contains seasons 1 & 2 that will be UNCUT, which means that the scenes butchered from Nickelodeon are now restored in all of its glory. I personally put "Ren & Stimpy" up against "Rocky & Bulwinkle", and "Looney Tunes" as one of the great classics. Although it only lasted two seasons,(I am overlooking season's 3-5, since they were done by a different company and were crappier) this classic show will live in our memories and on DVD October 12th.

Classic compilation.
30 July 2004
This compilation is the same as Shorts Vol. 1, except with different shorts and no introduction. More hilarity ensues with such masterpieces as The Days of Our Years, What To Do On A Date, etc.. Mike, Joel, and the 'bots tear up these very dated and useless shorts by using their strong wit and comedy. These shorts, with the exception of What To Do On A Date, would be very boring and tired; however the crew makes these shorts comic genius. If you liked Shorts Vol. 1, you'll love this brilliant compilation. MST3K is the perfect comedy drug; one of the greatest shows since "The Simpsons" and "South Park". I heavily recommend this show to anyone that has a great sense of humor.

This is one fantastic compilation of one of the finest shows of our time.
30 July 2004
MST3K: Shorts Vol. 1 is one of the best compilations of this fantastic series. There are a total of six shorts, all of which are hilarious. Shorts Vol. 1 includes such masterpieces as The Home Economics Story, Why Study Industrial Arts, Cheating, etc.. These shorts are some of Joel(or Mike) and the 'bots finest moments on the series. This is most definitely THE greatest way to get people into the show. While I started getting hooked on this series by watching "Manos", The Hands of Fate, this is probably the best way to get newbies hooked on the series. If you like smart, original, sharply written comedy this compilation will make you love this wonderful series.

Family Guy (1999– )
Great series, but no classic.
30 July 2004
"Family Guy" is one of the best series to ever come on Fox since "The Simpsons". Each and every episode I've seen was hilarious, except for the "lost" episode, which was the least fun out of all the episodes. Nearly everything about the series is great, but I do have a couple gripes with the show; it isn't as witty, funny, nor original as "South Park", "The Simpsons", and "MST3K", but those shows are pretty much unbeatable in my opinion. The episodes also don't repeat as well as as the previous shows, but this is still a can't miss series. While it isn't as good as the other shows I mentioned, this is one of the greatest adult series to ever grace television of this generation. Fox is very stupid for canceling this show, and I seriously hope that this great series doesn't get picked up by this channel, since they focus on more crap like "American Idol", "Method & Red", and "Quintuplets".

Only stupid people won't get this movie.
19 July 2004
I have heard comments saying that this movie is nothing but bathroom humor, but unlike certain movies (i.e. White Chicks, Soul Plane, etc.) this movie has some of the smartest comedy from the year it was in theaters. The issue Trey Parker and Matt Stone take on is the evils of censorship and how parents should be watching their kids about what they see on television or a movie theater. Trey Parker and Matt Stone also put in lots of low-brow humor, but unlike most movies attempting this kind of humor, they are actually very successful. This movie pulls absolutely no punches whatsoever on one of the most serious issues in our country. People might complain that it will eventually be dated, but censorship has actually gotten a lot worse than it was back in 1999 and sees no sign of dying. What impressed me about the movie the most was that it was also a damn good musical, in fact, better than almost any musical from the decade this movie was released. If censorship does die eventually, it could possibly be used for historical purposes, just like what Looney Tunes did for World War II. All in all, this movie is a brilliant combination of witty and low-brow comedy, with some heavy issues that this country has right now. If you are into satirical, smart, sharply written comedy, you will absolutely love this movie.

South Park (1997– )
One of the best, if not THE best satirical comedy series ever.
19 July 2004
When the show "South Park" comes to some people's minds, they think toilet humor or mean-spirited jokes. When I saw this show back in 1998 I immediately fell in love with it, but I thought this series was all low-brow humor. A few years later, I realized that this show was much more than gross-out gags, but actually some of the wittiest humor on this side of "Mystery Science Theater 3000" or "The Simpsons". Creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone are masters of low-brow humor; they don't go too overboard with the gross-out gags and while this humor can be ridiculously hard to attempt, they make it hilarious. The targets of this show are of wide range. Trey Parker and Matt Stone take no prisoners on certain issues(the media, pop culture, politics, and even religion). This series is also not as mean spirited as everyone says. If you look at it closely, it is done in a light-hearted way. The show does have a weakness, however, that it is topical. Even though it is topical, I personally think that it won't become too dated, especially with issues like censorship. Overall, this is one of the most brilliant satires that I have ever seen that seems to be very low-brow, but incredibly witty at the same time; it's a perfect balance. If you are into satire you will personally love this incredibly funny, sharply written series, that ranks right up there with "Mystery Science Theater 3000" and The Simpsons" as one of the best comedies I have ever seen.

One of the worst, if not THE worst movie EVER.
19 July 2004
This is one of THE most pathetic excuses for film I have ever seen in my life. This "movie" has absolutely no plot, suspense, energy, etc.. In fact, this movie has nothing at all. I wouldn't even count this as a sequel nor a remake of the cult classic. Embarrassingly enough, this was directed by the guy who helped create the horror classic, Kim Henkel. Kim's head must have been dropped hard to direct this god-awful, sorry excuse of film ever created, in fact, he might have been demon possessed to even create a sequel to a franchise that went out of style after the second film. Unfortunately, Renne Zellweger and Matthew McConaughy had to be in this crap as well. Actually they didn't want the movie to ever come in production, since they realized how crappy the movie was. Overall, the movie is overlong, not scary, unfunny, and makes Manos look watchable. Do yourself a favor and skip this piece of crap movie that is so bad that it even makes Gigli look like the movie Rain Man. Also, if you ever find any VHS copies, burn them, and if you run into any DVDs of this movie, dip them in acid.

Worst. Countdown. Ever.
12 July 2004
This is truly one of THE worst countdowns I have ever seen. These "comedians" couldn't make a funny wisecrack, even if it flew out their butts. Also, the people ripping apart these songs are being some of the most pretentious buttholes I have ever seen on a countdown. To add insult to the injury they make "funny" comments on some rather good songs, such as "Broken Wings" and "I Will Do Anything For Love". They even pick apart songs that actually have a great message, such as that Bette Midler song "Watching Over Us". With such crap mainstream music out today I wonder if they actually listened to some of these songs or just decided to say "hey guys, let's just pick songs at random to build an entire 2 hours by making unfunny comments and trying to say something smart". If you want people picking apart things by actually being funny watch "I Love the 80s", "I Love the 70s", "I Love the 80s Strikes Back", the upcoming "I Love the 90s", or better yet, "Mystery Science Theater 3000". Otherwise skip this piece of crap countdown.

Very underrated and overlooked series.
12 July 2004
Mystery Science Theater 3000 is really one of the most overlooked, original shows I have ever seen. The jokes are hilarious and clever, even the host segments are clever. People who call the show crap have either never seen the show before or they don't have any sense of humor whatsoever. Calling the host segments lame is like calling "The Simpsons" or "South Park" lame just because the characters are either colored yellow or the animation is crappy. Those aspects are awesome to me since I actually look past the appearances and characters only to find really funny and witty jokes about movies, media, pop culture, etc.. But the real "bread and butter" of the series is the theater segments, where Mike or Joel (depending on which season) and the 'bots make fun of some of THE worst and cheesiest movies ever made by implementing obscure references or make up their own dialogue. From what I have heard from other people is that the witty comments are used "pretentiously", which I sort of agree with, but it really is not being a big show-off, unlike the show "Frasier". Overall, this show is one of THE best comedies I have ever seen and ranks right up there with "The Simpsons" and "South Park". I wish more people would look at this underrated series since it would appeal to people that have a sense of humor or like smart, sharp comedy.
