Criminal Minds: Truth or Dare (2019)
What a wedding (he said sarcastically)
Huge hall, 10+ tables, epic cake....guess they spent the budget on Mathis because no guests other than "the team". Guess the new bride doesn't have any friends. My wife and I laughed so hard at the lack of guests.
Spring Breakers (2012)
So completely disappointed...
I honestly could not wait to see this movie (and not just because of the rumored Disney girls going wild). I thought this looked like something that would be fun, different and entertaining - what I got instead was a complete waste of 2 hours of my life. If there is one (and only one) saving grace of this film it would be James Franco as he once again turns in a performance unlike any he has done before. The girls are completely stiff and unrelatable (unless I am so far removed from the average teen age girl these days). I cannot imagine any girl with half a brain (certainly enough to go to college) participating in a "romp" such as this let alone four of them. Again perhaps I am jaded as I was severely let down by this title, but again I had heard such good things and was left wishing I had those two hours of my life back.
Grown Ups 2 (2013)
As good as the first one was...that is how bad this one is
Honestly I cannot even imagine how any of these actors (save perhaps Sandler) could read this script and agree to this pile of crap. I found the first Grown Ups to be a delightfully entertaining movie but this mess - I honestly cannot explain how this ever got made. This seems like the studio just said "Hey, how about we get every has been or almost was actor and put them in a movie!". Honestly when I originally heard that Rob Schneider was unable to be in this because of another commitment I thought "what the hell else does he have going on" but he is the lucky one, because this is the kind of movie that could (and should) kill careers. While I am sure the Sandler fans will spend their hard earned money on this monstrosity I hope that the powers that be take a good hard look at this and learn what is wrong with Hollywood. I cannot explain enough how much this movie sucked. Some cheap laughs, sure, but overall a complete and utter failure. A shame really because Rock, James and even Spade did their best - but overall this felt like Sandler being Sandler all over again and those guys just stuck due to contractual obligations.
Bailout: The Age of Greed (2013)
A thrilling ride into the mind of the 99%
This movie surprised me beyond words. The cover art / poster makes this look like a run and gun shoot em up, but instead you watch the downfall of an American Vet...someone who never "had it all" but worked really hard for what he had and appreciated it. Put into an all too familiar situation many American's find themselves in today, we watch as everything this man worked so hard for crumbles away while the people who are supposed to "have his back" just get richer and richer off of his (and many others) suffering. While this is not a true story I could clearly see how it could be, and the emotional impact I felt while watching this was downright terrifying. I would have given this a 10 star if only some of the acting by the lead didn't come off as a little stiff - but I never found it distracting. This movie hit so true to home at times I almost found myself needing to turn it off due to the emotional impact, and the ending while typical of this type of movie does not take away the pain that this story tells. I highly recommend this to anyone who has ever feared the bill collectors call, the mail coming or had to look a loved one in the eyes and explain why there is no money.
