Flipping 101 (2020– )

Really enjoyable twist on home flipping shows
3 May 2023
After a while, the traditional home flipping shows can get repetitive. Flipping 101 adds a fun, new dynamic to the flipping episodes we all know and love. As the novice flippers make awful decisions, it adds an element of drama, while still being focused on home renovations (unlike shows such as Christina on the Coast). Tarek has great insight and advice that is interesting and informative, and impressively keeps his cool even when newbie flippers blatantly refuse to heed his expert advice. Definitely worth checking out, especially if you're considering flipping yourself, as this is a great way to learn from other people's mistakes. Worth a watch!

What a let down
16 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
After 9 seasons of dragging on the will they/won't they with Leonard and Penny, we get a disappointing and drama filled wedding. They basic premise the whole show was building towards was demolished in one fell swoop. What should have been a heartfelt and entertaining episode, turned out to be one of the weakest of the series. There's no humor or magic as the group starts to splinter off, undermining the core spirit of the show. The drama with Amy and Sheldon was distracting and discouraging. I kept waiting for the episode to redeem itself, but never did. Leonard, Penny, and the fans deserved better!

Rude and unprepared
20 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
From the moment when Nicole insisted her carpenter give up his weekends with family to work on her project, to the look of pure disgust she threw at the contractor's sweet pup as she clutched her little rat dog, I was so off put by her lack of basic human curtesy. She expected everyone to work around her schedule and help her out but had no respect for anyone that she viewed as beneath her.

From a storyline standpoint, it focuses almost exclusively on one bathroom while completely neglecting the rest of the house. It goes off on rabbit trails about her son's lunch and her other project that eat up way too much time and don't serve to advance the episode forward.

Positive, inspiring, and fresh
31 March 2020
It's rare that you see positive female friendships on TV and that is what makes this show so special. The main characters are kind and constantly support and build each other up, a far cry from the usual catty, female drama you see in most shows. It's not just a "fluff" show and doesn't shy away from tough subjects. I am always so impressed with how they tackle complex, nuanced issues while still be engaging and fun. Yes, some parts are unrealistically lucky but it's a c'mon it's television. This show is truly a breath of fresh air amongst the legions of other stale dramas. I love that they break the mold with so many characters and don't rely on outdated archetypes. It makes me feel empowered and pushes me to support the other women in my life. I highly recommend giving it a shot!

One of the cutest movies I've seen in a long time
6 October 2019
I was scrolling through Netflix when I stumbled upon Christopher Robin. I figured I'd give it a shot but didn't expect to finish it. To my surprise, it completely sucked me in. It was charming, well-written, and I laughted out loud several times. I would highly recommend if you're looking for a thoughtful flick that stirs up nostalgia for childhood.

Warning: Spoilers
The way Amy bullies Jake is beyond weird and out of character. The only time I've felt uncomfortable with an episode of 99.

Horrible behavior
7 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
While I normally enjoy Shark Tank, I was appalled by the childish behavior exhibited here. Mark Cuban called a woman a gold digger (repeatedly) and Sir Richard Branson responded by throwing water on him to "punish" him. It was so petty and a terrible role model for children.
