Franklin (2024)
Hard to watch
When will the people who make movies learn that we know the difference between day and night? Why do they have to make movies so bloody dark that we can't see everything going on? We can understand with a little bit of tinting that it's night time which is sufficient so we can see everything else that's going on. Plus, we know they're speaking French in Paris France, so why do we have to read subtitles in English to know what they're saying? Just stipulate that it's in French and let us hear in English so we can understand what they are saying. I suppose they are trying to go for realism, but what's the point if they are not going to depict it in a manner in which we can see everything and understand what they're saying. I am sure the costune and set designers went to great detail on the costumes and the sets, so why not let us see them? I am out.
Another Time (2018)
Good idea, poor execution
For concept and idea I'd rate this Movie an 8. For execution I'd rate it a 4. For acting I'd rate it a 4. For the twist ending I'd rate it an 8. Overall, I can rate it a 6.
I like that they pointed out time travel can be done backwards and not forward. After all, how could one travel forward to something that hasn't happened yet. Unless, of course, everything is happening all at once as some theorize. They also covered creating an alternate timeline which covers the time travel bases.
An interesting twist was showing that even if you could travel back in time to change something it may not go as you imagined and now you're stuck there to make the best of it.
Overall worth watching but probably not more than once.
The Curse (2022)
Writing turned bad by EP3
I ran across this show and thought it might be interesting. I watched the first episode and enjoyed it enough to continue watching. The second episode was also pretty good and interesting to watch. But, early into the third episode, the writing became very contrived and idiotic to clearly set up future bungling by these sniveling and bumbling robbers. Once they decided to have the stupidest member of the gang, who can't read or write, hide the gold it was clear they were setting up a future, dumb and probably irritating episode where they struggle to find the gold or someone else has stumbled upon it. I stopped watching at that point since it was obviously stupid so I will actually never know. I am done.
Manifest (2018)
Crash landed
It was interesting at first when it seemed to be time travel, alternate universe or multi universe related. But it turned and became supernatural. That's not as much fun or entertaining. By episode 5 the main characters start to get dumb and it's all downhill from there. Too melodramatic and irrational. I expected a lot more from Robert Zemeckis than a "touched by an angel" destiny versus free will Story line. The episodes start to be too contrived and purposely created to drag out the story and that makes it boring and tedious. I find myself picking up my phone and checking messages rather than focusing on the show. I'm done.
Midnight in the Switchgrass (2021)
Waste of time
Megan Fox is not believable in this role. Bruce Willis hasn't been good for a long time and this didn't change anything. Sorry, couldn't finish it to see if it got better. Based on other reviews, it didn't.
Welcome to Happiness (2015)
Life is to short for bad movies
Slow and boring. 25 minutes was enough. I've seen enough bad movies to learn they don't get better. It's best to cut your losses early before you regret watching the whole thing. When you're bored and find yourself checking your work email it's time to turn the movie off and look for something more interesting.
Warehouse 13 (2009)
Lack of intelligence.
This show gets mostly good reviews and ratings from people but I find it disappointing. I expected more intelligence and cool investigations with clever findings/discoveries. Episode 4 is a bit early to be jumping the shark with trying to bring a ghost back to life. Didn't they try that in Casper the friendly ghost? I didn't finish the episode so I don't have a spoiler to share. I was looking forward to watching this after finishing Eureka but this is NO Eureka.
Warehouse 13: Claudia (2009)
2 sporks in a drawer full of knives
These two aren't bright enough to be in the position they're in. He's more like a dorky frat boy and she's seems to be purposefully difficult. They just bungle their way through things. Not the intelligence level you expect from SciFy. Jack Carter from Eureka wouldn't been better than these two.
The, supposed, genius that guides them isn't like-able and yells too much to be entertaining. His steampunk computers are silly.
This episode with the supernatural is my last one. I made it to episode 4 before I'm finally giving up on this show. I expected more intelligence from this show. Disappointing.
Parental Guidance (2012)
Aggravating.
30 minutes was 10 minutes to many. The movie is too aggravating to be enjoyable. Maybe it's too realistic to be entertaining? Just could not like anyone in it to bother watching more.
Luther (2010)
Too mopey and emotional
He's too weak and mopey. I stopped after 3 episodes. Just don't like the main killer.
Winter's Tale (2014)
Too slow and too long
I felt it was almost over but there was 40 minutes left. I didn't care enough about the story to continue. Just didn't care to finish it.
The Mitchells vs the Machines (2021)
Longer than it needs to be
At 1:13 I thought "40 minutes left? It's not over yet?" At this point it seemed it should only have 15 minutes left. I watched with my granddaughter who even struggled to keep interested. A lot going on yet still too slow and stereotypical teenage girl angst. Other than the two defective robots and sometimes the mom most the characters aren't likable.
Gas! -Or- It Became Necessary to Destroy the World in Order to Save It. (1970)
More entertaining than its rating
If you're paying attention there's some clever stuff in this 1970 movie. It's zany for sure. But there's some good stuff in it.
Hamilton (2020)
Hip Hop Hamilton
I actually read the book Hamilton and he's my favorite of the founding fathers. But 8 minutes of this hip hop crap was too much. I'm out.
The Stranger (2020)
Slow start and bad acting
Too slow of a start but the acting is bad (insert rimshot here). 14 minutes in (Almost 1/3) and I don't care about the characters. Not enough to continue watching anyway. I'm out.
The Romanoffs: The Violet Hour (2018)
Poor choice in filmmaking
I'm sure it's critacally artistic but the jumping back and forth from a French to English does not lend to a smooth viewing experience. I quit 20 minutes in. I won't be trying the other episodes either now. A bummer really, I was looking forward to this series.
The Last Man on Earth (2015)
Oh yay, another stereotype
The last man is a drunken porn obsessed bozo and the last woman is an organized law-abiding neat freak. Thus, yet again, men are sloppy pigs and can't survive without the strength of a woman. Even their logic is flawed. If you've already messed up and trashed a mansion there is no need to clean it in an effort to straighten out your life. Just move to a new clean one for a fresh start. If you have access to the entire country but there no electricity why pick Tuscon with no AC? Even if it is your home town you know what it's like. Yes, I watched the entirety of the 2 premier episodes. I kept hoping it'd get better and wondered when the comedy would start. I'll probably watch one more but 3 strikes and you're out.
