House of Wax (2005)
Fairly decent horror
I enjoyed it more the first time I watched it than this time around. I guess you should never rewatch a good horror. I noticed things this time I didn't before. The first one was, who would get in a disgusting truck with a disgusting fella like that? Thecsecond thing was Jared Palecki was an overly nosey person, so much so he was annoying. If it's not locked, he'll go in. It wasn't too bad with the wax museum, even tho it had a sign saying 'closed'. The garage was next, just help yourself Jared. Then the house. Use the bathroom sure but he had to poke his nose into other rooms, touch things & look in places he has no business. No wonder he got attacked first. Then there's the stupid friend who found him at the piano and started pulling his face off. But that's OK, he kept telling him he was sorry. For crying out loud! The first piece of face should've been enough to tell you, ah, maybe you shouldn't do that. The kills were pretty good & covering people with wax was very original. Some of the reviews here said they wished all the characters would survive...I only rooted for Chad Michael Murray. He seemed to be the only one with brains. Even Elisha Cuthbert acted like a dumb blonde. I sure won't be watching a third time.
Bring It On: Cheer or Die (2022)
Good grief!
I had no idea it was even a 'horror', & I use that term lightly. I thot it was just another Bring It On flick. When Mykayla was taken out I thot, oh well, wonder what that's about. It could've been a fun movie, most of the characters were pretty good. When the phones went missing & then the bathroom kill happened I knew it wasn't just a cheer movie. But come on, how stupid do they have to make these ppl in this kind of movie?? No one except Abby even tried to fight back. Scott was absolutely useless, running around the tv instead of toppling it on the mascot! Not even trying to move after he was on the ground! I am so sick of everyone being portrayed as stupid. And the ever famous line, "Let's split up & look for them." Makes me just cringe! When are we going to get a horror where ppl actually stick together & fight? That would be some movie!
Leprechaun Returns (2018)
Funny little guy
It was actually quite enjoyable bc of the laughs. Linden Porco portrayed the leprechaun well. I loved the bit about tidying the shoes & the line, referring to the crocs, "Probably doing fashion a favor by killing that one." The other characters fit with the humor & they were knocked off in the order you wanted. The dumb horny guy, the mean drunk girl, Matt, who didn't even have the sense to move away from the tree so as not to let the drone slice his head off, & finally the annoying save the planet girl. Good riddance to all. It was too bad about poor old Ozzy tho but I liked how he came back to help.
They were supposed to destroy all parts of the little green guy but...... How many leprechaun movies do we really need? I gave it a 5 bc I watched the whole thing, had some laughs & decided it was better than most comedy horrors.
Sick (2022)
I Had to FF to the End
Once I seen it was a same ol' same ol' I couldn't watch. Plus it pissed me off bc it didn't give any clues to who the killer was or why. I fast forwarded looking for the reason, which was stupid. So, knowing the killers were going to die I then FF to just finding out how, which were both pretty good ways. The only other thing I want to say is, instead of taking all that time to wrap her leg, why didn't Miri first use the wifi to get out a call for help, then wrap the leg. It was the same as Tyler with the bat. That's the problem with all these horror flicks, they never do what they should do!!
Play or Die (2019)
Didn't cut it.
One of those movies that you keep watching bc maybe it'll get better or maybe it'll make more sense....but it never gets any better. I guess when it's all been done before it must be hard to give it a new take....therefore you should just leave things alone. The puzzles were ok but they seemed rushed, like there wasn't too much thought given to them. They weren't very intricate and the plot had too many holes. There was no character building. These people were just thrown together, half of them looking creepy and sullen with no back story about them at all. I watched it bc I love escape room movies and I'm a big fan of Saw movies. This did not even come close.
Wander (2020)
Could have heen so much better
Contains Spoiler*
Hard to know who was who in this with so much conspiracy going on. It may gave been a good movie if the ending had of been different. Since when do the bad guys win?? I wondered why Arthur was never caught sneaking around in the fox hole, now i know. A few of the bad guys getting arrested and Arthur being proved right at the end would have been so righteous!
Random Acts of Violence (2019)
Not quite up to it
Good premise but rather dull. It never had me on the edge of my seat & I was never tense waiting for the next thing to happen. Sometimes the acting was so bad I wanted to slap them & tell them to shut up. It just could've been so much better. And the ending, did Todd go up in flames? It sort of looked like he stayed but if anyone sat in a fire they would be screaming etc. I hate endings that are not clear.
