Not that bad if you don't think at the original
6 September 2022
I mean... it's a fantasy movie about archmages, mages, with a wizardry school, working spells, magic duels. A sort of a more adult Hogwarts. For anyone who never read Ursula K. Le Guin Sparrohawk's book, this may look as a good generic fantasy movie like any other one. Not that bad and better than many others.

But the problem is simple. This movie is not Earthsea. This movie and the original books share just the name but they are two different stories, the movie takes a few of the gems of the book, randomly, and mixes them in a generic salad. For those who read the books, it is kind of delusional. Very delusional.

This is one of the most diseducative movies I've seen
18 May 2022
The message of this movie is that life is just a brawl.

Having success in this movie is to punch harder. The only hope is fighting back and doing more damage. Even recurring to the law means hitting people and leave them bleeding.

There's any "study", no "adolescent life analisys", nothing deeper than the mere message that growing and becoming an adult means to learn how to better putting down the opponent till letting him crawling on the floor.

I suppose I have to respect this movie point of view but I strongly disagree.

In its shortness, the completeness
29 October 2021
This is a small piece of art. Less than two minutes to show all the deep meaning of understanding the world through its mathematical modelization.

It is the beauty of mathematics seen through phenomena, representations and formulas in a single glimpse.

A deep and important plot based on a true case but
22 November 2020
The plot is based on a real fact happened in Italy and deserves to be known to public. Despite the plot, this movie is a tv movie with some bad acting (yes, Beppe Fiorello too, even if he is a little better than others). The story would have deserved some better directing and photography too. Too bad.

Beyond any imagination
22 October 2020
I knew this is a bad one but every now and then I like watching a bad movie because sometimes they are funny but... this one is beyond any imagination. It's not even funny. I watched the whole movie, once and never again, but my eyes were in pain.

I didn't expect to be amused so much
3 March 2019
I wanted to see this movie in which there are Gassman and Buccella, two of the actors of L'armata Brancaleone, so I started watching this movie expecting no more than one of the many late 60s and 70s Italian movies, (B movies, comedies with a sexy wink, usually based on a weak plot and a few funny lines). But I was wrong. This movie is a good one. Vittorio Gassman character is a witty and amusing thief. Tomas Milian is very well known for his detective movies, but in this one he appears as a totally different actor. Gastone Moschin and Maria Grazia Buccella are in the cast too. The plot is sexy, yes, but funny too and a little surreal, set in Italy somewhere in the 60s (mainly filmed in Rome, even if the city is never mentioned) and the movie is one enjoyable hour and half of this Festa Campanile's movie.

Very enjoyable indeed. Suggested!
21 January 2019
Andrew Niccol isn't new to this kind of movies. S1m0ne, Gattaca, In Time... all these speak for itself. Anon fits perfectly in the group. Althought I found many cheap tv or Netflix movies, I have to say that viewing Anon intrigued me. Both Clive Owen and Amanda Seyfried act very good in this dystopyan detective movie. Not an action movie for sure. A movie slow paced, a bit philosophical, set in a future (how far?) where no one can never be anonymous. Very enjoyable. Suggested.

A story of love and jealousy
5 June 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This is the story of an untold, misunderstood, love. As simple as a boy felling in love to a girl. She is very open with him, behaves with confidence, she never encourages him and yet she never openly stops him from thinking they can be together for she doesn't believe he might love her that way. But. The boy is a lonely kid (around maybe six years old). In his loneliness the boy pretends to have imaginary friends like a dragon, an alien robot, and a king. His parents use to leave him with a tata, which he doesn't like, so they hire another one and this is Mara (Valeria Golino). The topic is taboo but the movie depicts it very softly, never getting trivial or excessive about it. The fact is that the girl has a boyfriend and the kid become jealous. The movie end is dreamy. How else could a jealous lover get rid of his rival in love if not with the help of his (even if they are imaginary) friends? And the boy becomes an adult by letting his friends go.

A fan (not professional) movie, and yet enjoyable and not bad at all
24 January 2018
I'm a Potterhead myself, one of those who wrote in newsgroups (when newsgrups did still exist) trying to figure out with other fans what the next book could be (in the era of BOOKS, not movies yet). Said that, I've also seen the movies. All of them. A comparison with this one would be highly unfair, as the "official" movies are professional products. This one should be, in my humble opinion, seen like a fan story. But despite its short lenght (less than an hour) and the poorness of the sets (all the movie is filmed inside), I saw this Voldemort: Origins of the Heir with pleasure. I gave 8 to this movie. Yes, actors are dubbed but revoicers are English speakers (their names can be read in credits) and no one would have liked someone talking English with Italian accent. So this is a plus, not a con. Yes, there are characters not canonic, but this is for the sake of the plot. Costumes are great. Lights are good. Directing might not be so great, but good enough. To sum it up, my opinion is highly positive.
