881 (2007)
If you are not Singaporean, avoid it !... well if you are Singaporean... go take a walk at the Chinese Gardens instead...
Let's make a test... Remove every songs from this movie, show an edited version of 881 without any music... What will u think ? Even for the few minutes left of the movie (yes, the songs are most of the movie), it will be a very boring story, without goal and with bad actors...
You guess it, the show is all about music and dance, fancy dresses and uninteresting story ! A very disappointing movie from Royston Tan. Have u seen his previous ones ? Yes ! Then you will understand me but you won't understand why the director choose the most easy way of bringing popular songs on the screen instead of a writing a credible story... Popularity ? Well Mr. Tan, you should think about your art before thinking about your money... Remember you did it before, and it was quite good...
Just Follow Law: Wo zai zheng fu bu men de ri zi (2007)
A cheap, and sometime funny, "TV movie look-a-like" film
Thou it's started like a comedy and social criticize of the famous Singaporean 'No U-turn', Jack Neo's movie turn, itself, quickly in a poor copy of Black Edwards' comedies when Fann Wong and Gurmit Singh exchange their souls to find themselves in each others body. Without this 'deja-vu' effect, Neo would have reach his moral easier and more originally.
Neo's direction still looks like a newcomer film student who wants to play with the effects and have more the aspect of a TV film than a cinema feature. Even during a serious scene (Gurmit's daughter hit by a car), the cheap special effect starts laughs among audience instead of fear.
This movie should have been be produce for TV with a cheaper budget, maybe this could have let a chance for others, and better, Singaporean filmmakers to produce a higher quality feature.
But you know they let him do. It's just because, long time ago, Jack Neo made laughs...
Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003)
What a such good movie !!!!
Please forget what u may have read before. People said bad about this movie ? yes forget that. Such a good casting, such good songs, such good dances. What could you ask for more ? A good story !! Well, you get it. Please don't ask too much, this story is good, not very complicated but not very simple too. Are u looking for laughs ? Well u will get them by watching it. You prefer to cry, well i can tell you will do that too. So who could ask for anything more ? The three main actors form such a good team. Please see the movie and admire Shah Rukh Khan performance, acting & dancing, bringing joy to this story. OK OK i just tell u nice things about the movie, u want me to say bad things !!! But i simply cant ! i tell u this movie is not the masterpiece of the whole the Indian production, it's not the best but it's a very very good one. You gonna spend a very nice time, i swear it.
Monk (2002)
Absolutely Great Sleuth
It's a real pleasure watching MONK. Tony Shalhoub is absolutely perfect, he plays Adrian Monk perfectly and the show is totally excellent. Bitty Schram make a great nurse, a good "Watson", Ted Levine is also as great as he is ironic in that kind of role. The mysteries are really well done, and the suspense is always keep until the last minute. The others characters are not some little characters, all are important in this show and that's really cool. Some called it the successor of Columbo, I wish this show will continue as long as Columbo.Every years there's a lot of news TV Shows, some are good, others are bad but there is only a few which are excellent as Monk. And there's only a few episode a year and that help the show to be always constant. So keep on it Adrian Monk.
