What happened?
20 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
It could have been great, a solid 8, but it went downhill from episode 6 on. They managed to make it boring, repetitive and annoying. There are too many illogical situations. Since I had already invested some time, I continued watching the series till the end, but I had to fast forward a lot. The good guys are so stupid and resourceless! Their decisions make no sense. No wonder the evil guy always has the upper hand: he has all kinds of contacts to warn him or provide information, an army of thugs at hand and no scruples at all. He is always a step ahead. How come the good guys took no measures whatsoever once they decided to go against this psychopath? Come on, Choi doesn't get any armed bodyguards (armed with fire weapons o with some martial arts skills.) or why doesn't he at least have a panic room at home (where he keeps all his money and gold?) And, are there no banks in Korea or didn't this billionaire had the idea to send his money overseas, perhaps to Switzerland or the Caiman Islands? Surely he would have had the means to do it. Instead, he got robbed by the same guy three times!!! And, when some 30 thugs invade his house, did he really think he could stop them with a little gun? And couldn't he have at least closed the safe where he had his gold when he took the pistol? And why the unnecessary roughness of the brute against a crippled old man? Why kill Choi and the two cool knifers? Why so coldly, so easily, so fast? And why wasn't the actress ( got fired) who plays Choi's granddaughter replaced with another one instead of sending the character to Rome and putting a random archer girl along the way? Of course the heroes get the bad guy in the end, but it is not really satisfying. It's too little, too late.

Simply stupid
31 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Is the Secret service soooo stupid? Scary! And why does Carol keep getting promoted? She never solves any crime on her own. And they put the police chief in the same Hospital where a silent killer has already murdered several patients? And they leave him without protection because, again, the Secret service wanted to kill two birds with one stone and then orders all guards at the hospital out. It is only by chance that Carol ((who never realized she left her chief unprotected even when she knows they haven't captured the real killer yet) arrives there on time. Else her boss would have got easily killed. And of course, nobody answers their mobile right away. Also, Tony is getting very annoying and too crazy. And shouldn't he be charging the police for his services? It is always his input that solves the crimes. He may lose his job and therefore his way of living, but Carol doesn't care. She is not good enough at solving crimes, but ver good at manipulating Tony into helping her free of charge. Doesn't the "brilliant" psychologist notice this? I hope this doesn't continue in this direction. The audience's intelligence is being insulted.

The Blacklist (2013–2023)

It started great...
5 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
...but season after season it got more and more disappointing. I kept watching till season three because of the superb lead actor -James Spader does an amazing job portraying Reddington- and the interesting blacklist cases. But illogical situations and the stupidity shown by the female lead and other FBI agents are simply unbearable.

Lizzy's character is annoying , unlikable, and 99% of the time the actress is expressionless , the remaining 1% unconvincing. Lizzy is supposed to be a brilliant profiler, tough and "smart", but she is always making mistakes, taking bad decisions, betraying people and leaving a lot of collateral damage (people die, get hurt, are incarcerated, careers get ruined, etc.) , but no matter what wrongs she does, everybody -including those she has damaged- inexplicably seems to have as sole purpose in life to help her, protect her, clean up her mess and let her get away with everything. To make things worse, Lizzy is self-righteous and, of course, unbreakable (walking out from explosions, car crashes, terrible fights, and so on without a scratch -perhaps a very tiny one-) and while other "top" agents get captured, hurt and/or tortured, she almost never gets caught, or manages to escape and do the rescue. One is left to wonder how the FBI survived and solved cases before this commandeering super rookie joined them? (and everyone stands in awe forgetting Red is the one giving her all the cases, all the leads). Sarcasm aside, why are the creators of this show ruining it on behalf of such an awful character and turning the others into pathetic caricatures just to make her "shine" the more?

I don't know if I'll keep watching the show. I still like Red and find the cases intriguing, and some characters are quite likable (i.e Dembe, Aram) . However, I'm not that curious about the mystery surrounding Lizzy's parentage. I don't want to spoil it, but there is just one logical explanation regarding Red's tolerance and love towards her. But logic is not at its best in the series. I can only hope it doesn't get more ridiculous and insulting to the audience's intelligence.
