Lethal Weapon (2016)
Best show on TV
Clayne Crawford's Martin Riggs is absolutely incredible. He shines in this show and from the very first scene of the first episode he does what I thought was impossible: He takes an iconic role and makes it as good if not better than the original. His version of Riggs surpasses even Daniel Craig's excellent work as James Bond. He really is neck and neck with Mel Gibson and I'm excited to see how this plays out in future seasons.
The writing is stellar. The writers aren't afraid to make this version of Lethal Weapon a unique thing not too closely tied to the original movies. Nothing is being regurgitated here. Lethal Weapon is fresh and original and unlike any other show on TV. THIS is how a remake should be made. I would teach a film school this show as an example of how to approach remaking a classic movie franchise into a good television series.
Alison's Choice (2015)
Marchiano's Masterpiece!
Alison's Choice is one of the most important movies ever made. How many movies can literally be responsible for saving a life? Alison's Choice is such a movie and if you haven't followed this film's production you should know that it has already saved lives! That kind of power goes far beyond the qualities of the productions you'll see on IMDb's top 250 movies list!
That is not to say that Alison's Choice is in any way lacking in production quality, though. This is Bruce Marchiano's masterpiece. He wrote the incredibly moving and powerful script and brought that script to life from the director's chair in his directorial debut all while giving another touching and memorable performance in the role of Jesus. One cannot help but be moved by the passion Bruce had for this project.
Chanel Marriott also gives a wonderful performance in the role of Alison. She perfectly captures a combination of self-righteousness, anger and rationalization with a blend of sorry, fear and despair. It should be apparent to anyone viewing this film that this fantastic young actress certainly has a bright future ahead of her.
The soundtrack is excellent and plays a vital role throughout the entire film. There are moments that will make you cry and there are other moments that will make you smile or laugh and that is quite a feat considering the serious topic being addressed in the movie.
Overall Alison's Choice is one of the best movies I've ever seen and I hope many women faced with the same choice as Alison in the movie watch this before making their decisions. Bruce Marchiano deserves considerable credit for making a pro-life film that does not come off as preachy or judgmental. There's just a very well made story about Christ's unending love, passion, grace and mercy for all of His children.
God's Not Dead 2 (2016)
Outstanding movie tackling important issues of our day
If you are a Christian don't miss this great movie. Bring your friends, your family, your Pastor, your Youth Group, etc. The message in this movie is critically important and it's high time that Christians stop walking around defeated all the time and stand up to the insane barrage of attacks we are facing from the left in America.
If you're not a Christian why are you even bothering watching this let alone giving it a negative review on a website like IMDb? I don't believe in bigfoot. Guess how much time I spend on bigfoot...
Seriously. Ignore all of these biased reviews for this great movie and ask yourselves why these people are spamming this page with negative reviews. They're the same kind of obnoxious people protesting (trolling, actually) a Donald Trump rally. They're the same kind of people who call everyone who disagrees with them - about anything - a bigot.
God's Not Dead 2 is a great movie with a great cast, great music, a story based on REAL court cases and it addresses the very important topic of religious freedom in American society today. Don't miss it!
God's Not Dead (2014)
God's Not Dead will move you and inspire you like few other films can
God's Not Dead is an inspiring, funny and memorable film with a good script and several outstanding acting performances that people of all ages and from all backgrounds can enjoy. I see a lot of reviews talking it down here on IMDb and labeling it "propaganda" but I hope that many of you will see through that as unfounded and give this gem a chance.
Kevin Sorbo will completely shock you with his performance in this movie. When I saw the trailer I'll admit one of my initial concerns for this film was their casting of Mr. Sorbo as Professor Radisson. I have nothing against Sorbo's work in the past (that I've seen) but I did not think he was cast correctly in the role. And boy was I wrong! His performance in this film absolutely redefined how I thought of him as an actor. He single-handedly added a layer of depth to this movie with his work and once you see it you will want to watch it again just because of how well he did with the role.
David A.R. White and Marco Khan, neither of whom I've ever seen act before, were surprisingly good in each of their roles as well and Dean Cain played well to his strengths with the small role he had as well. These strong supporting performances really tie the film together in a special way with the solid script and some straightforward directing and an excellent soundtrack. Give this movie a chance. You will enjoy it.
If you like this movie also watch one of these or if you like any of the following films you'll enjoy God's Not Dead: Flywheel, Fireproof, Facing the Giants, Courageous, Amazing Love, Mercy Rule, The Passion of the Christ, The Mission, Machine Gun Preacher, Thomas Kinkade's Christmas Cottage, A Christmas Visitor.
Oz the Great and Powerful (2013)
Raimi nailed it! Outstanding family film!!
Oz the Great and Powerful is the best family movie I've taken my kids to since WALL-E in 2008 and I would venture to say that this film is as on par with the original "The Wizard of Oz" as is possible. Sam Raimi's direction and style are on display here and in my opinion this is easily his best piece to date. I hope he is given a chance to put his twist on The Wizard of Oz story and who knows? Maybe even make his own Wizard of Oz sequel and turning this into an Oz trilogy! He is an outstanding filmmaker and I was delighted to see how he handled this material.
The special effects are awe-inspiring and relevant and most importantly contribute to the story and legacy of the land of Oz in magnificent ways. This is unquestionably the best use of 3D that I've ever seen. Franco gives a very strong best performance and Mila Kunis was surprisingly awesome in her role as well. Why people are knocking these two is absurd and I think that will become very evident to the majority of people who watch this gem. If you like great fantasy family-friendly films in the vein of Shrek, The Princess Bride, Star Wars, WALL-E or The Wizard of Oz do not miss this movie!
