How to Kill Your Neighbor's Dog (2000)
Good Movie...but
The title doesn't actually fit the movie in my opinion. The movie teaches a lot such as the root for not a thing is nothing and many others. The lead character is not at all shy and hates everything and everyone except his wife and Amy. Sometimes I think though that Ms. Wright-Penn is going to burst a vein in her neck from arguing with him. After a half hour you get tired of listening to him belly-ache and just want him to start being more like his mother in law! Which is quiet. It is chuck full of quick witted material though. But it doesn't deserve 3 stars from TV Guide when movies such as The Break-Up only rates 2. Are you kidding me, TV Guide rating people? Just because an actor has an accent doesn't mean he deserves a 3 star rating.
Anatomy of a Murder (1959)
Please Be Honest
I read something on this site about Jimmy Stewart being a racist. Well I would like to know what he was doing in Anatomy of a Murder sitting and talking with the very African-American Duke Ellington! If people are going to go on these sites I would appreciate it if they would tell the truth. Jimmy Stewart was no more a racist than I am. They said he went into a producer and said, "Do we have to act with these n-----?" Or something of that sort.
Apparently this could have never happened. It could not have happened if he is patting Duke Ellington on the shoulder like they are the best of friends. Is there a way this site can be monitored so that lies like this don't get written?

House of Payne (2006)
Show Needs Improvement
I watched the show hoping that Curtis would eventually stop hitting the grown actors in the show but he has not stopped. I cringe whenever he does this. He is a terrible actor. I like the wife because she bounces around the set like a beach ball and I think it is amusing. But Curtis brings nothing to the show. The two young children actually are the better actors and have potential. Curtis has to get some serious acting lessons before they make anymore episodes. The plots are good but just not executed well. Didn't the actors preview the show themselves before they allowed themselves to become a part of something about which people would criticize harshly? It is almost as if they know it is bad and they don't mind. Well I do. They embarrass me. Sorry.
The King of Queens: Damned Yanky (2004)
It's So Hard To Say Goodbye
I am sorry to see the King of Queens leave the ABC Monday night line-up. I have never laughed so much as when I watched this show. If I was down, all I had to do is tune in to this program and I would forget my problems for awhile. In this way they may not have realized it but they served a therapeutic purpose for many viewers. This was my favorite show. I hope Kevin, Leah and Jerry get other sitcoms. They are excellent comedians as was everyone else on the show. Though they are now in "repeat mode" on different channels and I enjoy seeing these, I would have liked the show to have gone on indefinitely. It was just that awesome.
Harvey (1950)
Shame, Shame
I just found out by viewing this site that Jimmy Stewart was a racist. I have for years loved his movies but I can't watch him in the same manner that I did before. I live in Pennsylvania and I know it is the most racist state in the US. But I never would have dreamed that Jimmy Stewart might have been a member of the KKK. I will never watch his movies again. It is a shame that someone with so much talent was also so very small-minded. He wasn't just crazy in Harvey. He was crazy for real. However, the movie was great. I just wish they had gotten Judy Holiday to play the part. She would have been more amusing than Stewart and I know for a fact that she was not a racist.
Amber's Story (2006)
Important Subject Treated Badly
The female lead was a terrible actress which made the whole movie mediocre. She was smiling too much when she first went in front of the cameras to talk about her daughter. This should have made the police suspect her. I would have been inconsolable in the identical situation. She seemed way calm for a mother who could not find her daughter. It was as if she did not want to even be in the movie. Jennifer Aniston would have played the part better. And it would have made a lot more money for such a controversial, important subject. Everyone else was excellent. I don't know where the lead actress is but I hope she got some acting lessons.
Dragon Seed (1944)
"A Devil of a Movie"
As others have written, I too did not appreciate the Caucasian influence in this movie. However, since I am a person who did not know that Japan ( a small country) invaded China ( a very large country)) it was a learning experience which I do appreciate. I am African-American and would have liked the movie better had there been Japanese playing Japanese and Chinese playing Chinese! While trying to enjoy the movie, this thought kept pervading my mind, making it difficult to feel sorrow for the people who were being murdered. This movie is pure trickery in that respect. Not that I like to see people killed. I am glad they do not make movies of this sort anymore.
