More than I expected
26 July 2023
This was a very pleasant surprise. The performances were uniformly great (love love LOVED Vince Vaughn's never ending supply of cowboy shirts), the plot was somewhat unique, the focus was clear, and the patter was pretty darned snappy. Before the denouement I found myself rooting for both sides. I was impressed with the full package, and even moreso when I learned that it was Clark Duke's film. I know others are referring to Tarantino, but really only uses the QT technique of jumbling the timeline just enough so the storytelling points are revealed timely. Otherwise, it is its own film, and not derivative at all. Check it, it's not a waste of time.

A pleasant surprise

I am glad we stumbled on this. It was a terrific mash up of disaster and heist films. A lot of originality and creativity in the action bits. I'm surprised at some of the reviews here - oh what, the southern accents sounded off to you, so you judge the entire film by that? Implausible? So what? Isn't every disaster movie? In a world where movies like Sharknado exist and make money, I'm not sure I understand the point. Also, this looked like a really hard movie to make, so I'd hand it to the filmmakers. I enjoyed the performances - Toby Kebbell is good in everything he's in. The bad guys were somewhat cartoonishly intense but again, so what? Give this one a shot.
