Book Club (2018)
50 Shades of Cringe
I'm a fan of Diane Keaton and Candace Burgen so I wanted to see this. Although I loathe the 50 Shades books, I thought the premise is funny so the movie might be.
Errrr...
I cringed a lot and laughed very little so I don't know what the people leaving very high reviews must have seen. Are old people this horny? Seriously. And what's with the housewife's need for validation through sex? Can't she respect the fact that her husband is going through something and might not be up for it? Jane Fonda's character running from the guy who likes her at her age? Come on, granny! Diane Keaton needs a new wardrobe stylist. Or a new genre.
All I wanted to see more of was Candace Burgen's dating shenanigans and where she could have ended up with with Richard Dreyfus.
Alone (2020)
Mmmkay...
I know for a fact that this was made way before #Alive and was supposed to be released sooner but was delayed because of Coronavirus. Just wanted to get that out of the way.
I'm a sucker for Zombie/Apocalyptic movies so I wanted to see this even after seeing #Alive. I wasn't very keen on #Alive because the acting was off for me. Sadly, Tyler Posey's acting is way worse.
He likes to scrunch his face up whenever he's crying, smiling, scared or sad but it just makes him look like he's in pain. Honestly. The guy cannot act. I can see the appeal though, given the butt shot but even that falls a little flat.
If you want to see something that's entertaining thanks to the plot holes, the haphazard editing, bad acting or shoddy ending, this movie is for you.
I kind of want a part 2 just to see if the whole travesty will devolve to a full-on Walking Dead knockoff. :P
Us Again (2020)
What a mess!
I saw this on Netflix and I thought it was going to be a straightforward love story. Then the writers decided to change it up and include some mythical elements like ghosts and possessions (the non-creepy kind). It started off okay but then ends in a garbled mess.
Bottled with Love (2019)
Hmmm...
The story is okay. The main actors are great. I loved Snowed Inn Christmas and I think they work well together. But something about the movie feels off and for me it's the editing. It also could be because they tried to cram too many things in one TV movie that it all looks like it was edited in a hurry? It was like a bunch of clips thrown together. I sometimes felt like the story was being rushed. Abbey's character lacked development as well. Her ex said he can't be with someone who can't open up but she says she's an open person. And what's with the Michael Bay-esque shots with the light glares?
Christmas at Pemberley Manor (2018)
Disappointed
I was so looking forward to this. I love Michael Rady (although I'm not too crazy about the girl). But I didn't get the plot. I just couldn't get what it was all about. And the music was too loud! It's on during the dialogue too! It drove me nuts and took away from the enjoyment of the movie.
Very Cavallari (2018)
My new guilty pleasure!
I am not even sorry. This was a lot of fun. I really liked watching how Kristin has matured from her Laguna Beach self. I like her's and Jay's relationship as well. As for the girls...wow. I like Reagan and Brit but Shannon...I want to punch her mouth and knock out her humungous front teeth out. She's the only downside in this show for me.
