Kongekabale (2004)
A brilliant film
This film is simply riveting from beginning to end. Right from the opening scene I found myself enthralled and could simply not take my eyes off the screen.
I remember many years ago seeing " All the president's men " which was about two journalists successful attempts to uncover the truth about the Watergate scandal.
This film is very much in the same genre and at least as good. It is clearly the best film I've seen this decade and I've seen some very good ones.
The main star , Anders W Bertelsen is one of my absolute favourite actors. He was supported some some of Denmarks best actors.
The script was excellent and the way the tension and uncertainty as to what was going to happen and what what going to be uncovered , was masterfully handled.
Bænken (2000)
AN INTERESTING FILM
I have now seen this film two or three times and am very impressed with the way it portrays life for a group of society's loser and how the main character in the film is forced to pull himself together and face the consequences of his past - something he just manages to do before his demise.
Bænken is the first of a trilogy of film by director Per Fly. The second was " Arven" ( The inheritance )which was equally impressive but entirely different.
The third and final film is called " Drabet" ( The Murder ) and is due for release next year .
I'm looking forward to it.
Krøniken (2004)
I cannot praise this series enough
I've seen the whole of the first series and I think it is just superb. It had been billed as a successor to " Matador" which in my view is one of the best TV series ever made.
All expectations have been fully met. Although it is fiction it gives one an insight into life in post-war Denmark , the way people lived a the attitudes that prevailed.
The series is based around a company that produced radios and then very reluctantly , had to accept that television had become a fact and had to start making televisions in order not to lose ground to it's competitors. For those who enjoyed Matador and the British series Upstairs Downstairs , Kroniken is an absolute must.

Rejseholdet (2000)
I cannot say many good things about the series !
I've got all 32 episodes of Rejseholdet and , quite simply , I think it's one of the best series ever made.
The title is effectively the same as the British TV series from the 70's The Sweeney and it is every bit as good as that series was.
It's very atmospheric , the acting is excellent , the interplay between the characters is superb and adds to the realism of the series. Some of the asides , especially between Fischer and La Cour are very witty.
Too many programmes on Danish television are nothing more than copies of English and American programmes. At its best , however , the Danish TV service ( danmarksradio ) has made some outstanding television series. Rejseholdet is amongst them
