Ted Lasso: Inverting the Pyramid of Success (2021)
Rushed
Multiple time jumps are often a sign of lazy writing. Felt like a rushed episode where certain plotlines were not fleshed out enough. For example the roy-keeley story for example was going really well and the drama was too manufactured.
Still a great series but they should have had more episodes to really tell the stories properly. The story with the councillor could have been much more effective if we had seen more of her character but we weren't given enough time for that to happen. Some other plot lines could have been skipped altogether. The beard-jane episode and stories in general always seemed like a waste of time.
Black Adam (2022)
Probably the worst DC movie so far
This movie is cheesy and uninspired. The story pace doesn't flow well, characters are one dimensional and the Rock really can't act. These types of movies are supposed to be fun escapism but this one just left me bored and sleepy. It takes itself too seriously. Hollywood needs to realise that it's audience has changed. We have seen these kinds of movies over and over. Now we expect more. Give us better character development, give us complex multifaceted characters. Also the non stop cliches are what makes this movie so uninspired. I thought DC was making a comeback with wonderwoman 1 and the newest suicide squad with giant starfish but unfortunately this is 10 steps back.
Game of Thrones (2011)
Season 8 makes the entire show a complete waste of time
Game of thrones spent all the time creating character arcs, building up the white walkers and world building, only for season 8 to come along and render all of that for nothing. For example they spent all this time building up Jon Snows secret birthright as a Targaryen, only to have it be for nothing. Dany, protector of the weak suddenly (and I do mean suddenly) hears some bells and a switch flips in her head. Oh and Bran can warg but he does nothing with it. But ends up becoming king. There's way too much and the writers clearly wanted to finish up this show in a hurry so that they could go work on star wars. Congrats, you ruined your cash cow. There is absolutely no reason to rewatch this series now.
Hwan Hon (2022)
So well done
I'm not usually into Joseon Era dramas but I love this show so much. One standout is that it doesn't take itself too seriously. The characters and dialogue have so many light-hearted and funny moments and are so multi dimensional. Bad guys aren't just bad for the sake of it, the character development is nuanced and builds nicely as the episodes continue on, and they have a lot of comedic relief which makes for an enjoyable viewing experience.
The fantasy aspect combined with the love and drama makes for an easy, fun watch. It hooks you in right from the first episode, which really is a testament to the fantastic writing, directing and a great cast. The effects look pretty cool and the world building is very nicely done.

It's entertaining with a few caveats
Overall it was an enjoyable watch but there were a few points that were wierd.
This ends up being a show about a dude who is in denial that he is gay. I mean he spends half the season trying to stop himself from loving another dude. Then finally accepts it.
They took way too long for the character to reveal that she was a girl and even when she did, you would think he would be relieved and happy but he seems unhappy?
And lastly some of the moves that he makes on her made me uncomfortable. He backs her into corners too much, and kisses her multiple times quite forcefully. Keep in mind that this was early 2000's and the world is quite different these days so maybe it doesn't translate across to the viewer in the same way as it would have.
The Batman (2022)
Slow paced and moody
It started off with potential but never really took off. The pace stays pretty static, characters are one dimensional and nothing stood out. Another movie that left me thing "was this really necessary?"
Uncharted (2022)
Lacked depth
The storyline, character development and relationships were completely superficial. Filled with plotholes and just mediocre writing. I feel like audience appetite for better writing has increased. Yet Hollywood keeps pumping out these "blockbuster" films with little to no substance.

Good not great
This series had the makings of an incredible zombie series. However it suffered from lots of mediocre writing decisions.
- too many antagonists: this building is full of selfish characters who make idiotic decisions. It just serves to annoy the audience again and again
- repetitive plot points for example the bad doctor doing bad things over and over
- the andrew twist was unnecessary and didn't add anything. Actually it took away from the main story
- we need more writers who are actual zombie fans. Why would these characters keep doing stupid things e.g. Fighting zombies without armouring their neck and arms, closing doors after running through, putting the tent in the carparkk instead of on the roof, etc
- the ending fell flat because they focussed too much on the building idiots doing last minute stupid things rather than the cure
Overall easy watching but i wish they stopped making so many annoying characters and holier than thou characters.

Funniest show I've ever watched
This is laugh out loud funny and charming right from the 1st episode. The characters are so well cast, story lines and writing is hilarious and the cliches are self-aware and poke fun at themselves. I've shared this with so many people who don't usually watch kdramas and they are also loving it.

Can zombie shows please be written by actual zombie lovers
Stupid character decisions ruin shows. In this one for example they all know what zombies are and they even reference Train to Busan. So why on earth wouldn't they try to armour themselves up, like wrap their arms and legs with books, get some sharp objects as weapons, stop yelling unnecessarily, stop trying to prevent people from killing bitten people etc.
Nam-ra's character was annoying and I don't know why they made her the focus. The dads plotline was also pointless.
There's many storylines that were unnecessary or frustrating like the bully that kept falling from the building. The zombie human girl should havr also been going around and stabbing all the zombies one by one and clearing out areas before the rest moved out. Missed opportunity and they didn't have the best strategies. That final zombie battle out in the open with spades was also super ridiculous and stupid decision making. The writers should have made them at least take high ground.
Oh yeah also why wouldn't the archery students be collecting their arrows as much as possible. They need all the arrows they can get. They would have used the arrows and gone around stabbing the zombies one by one through the tennis cage or something like that. Like daryl did in the walking dead. So many missed opportunities that zombie lovers would have wanted to see.
Must Love Dogs (2005)
So bad
Everything wrong with Hollywood writing. The whole premise is about (and i quote) a woman being "past her expiry date". Like what? She's in her 40's and is divorced. Her worth is hinged on her relationship status throughout the movie. The relationships are shallow and cliché- e.g. The conversations among the women are always about men. There's nothing much about dogs either which was a huge letdown. Don't waste your time with this one.
Don't Look Up (2021)
Perfect satire of our times
This movie left me wanting to laugh and cry because it is a spot on satire of our times. The frustration of scientists not being listened to, the shallow 'fluff' pieces getting more traction than an earth crisis, politicizing the crisis, conspiracy theorists.. the frustration that the audience feels throughout the movie is so real.
You: What Is Love? (2021)
Plotholes, inconsistencies and lazy writing.
So we can hear Joe's thoughts and he's thinking that this is the end for him? Then suddenly we are shown that actually this was his plan all along.
How could he possibly have predicted that the neighbour would come over and see him, thus verifying his story.
Didn't the authorities wonder when Joe had time to drop off his baby since he was supposed to be tied up, baked into a pie and murdered by Love?
How dod he get out of the country when he's supposed to be dead?
How did joe get away from the burning house with 2 missing toes? He couldn't have run very far.
The list goes on. This season was badly and lazily written. They made Loves character so ridiculous and impulsive. I hope they manage to salvage season 4.
Ted Lasso: Beard After Hours (2021)
Disjointed and unnecessary
Prior to this episode, I found coach beard intriguing and a likeable character. This episode managed to make him less of both. It was such a pointless filler episode and a real let down. If it was meant for character development, it didn't achieve that.
The whole episode felt like a series of disjointed episodes, and this episode felt disjointed from the entire series.
A random lady invited him over to get his pants fixed? What?
He bumps into jaimes dad of all people, in one of the most populous cities. What?
The entire clubbing scene.
I don't get it. And it's very unlike the rest of this series.
Anne (2017)
Why on earth does netflix keep cancelling amazing shows???
This is such a charming coming of age story based on the 'Anne of Green Gables' series. The casting in my opinion is perfect and one of the best takes on this series. It is such easy watching and is so heartwarming. Unfortunately they've cancelled it 3seasons in just when certain plotlines and character arcs were getting good. They've left a few things unfinished and yet again Netflix has left the fans in the dust. I really hope this show gets picked up and continued on because it's just that good.
The Suicide Squad (2021)
Best DC film yet
I HATED the first suicide squad, but this one was completely different and everything I wanted it to be. It's got 'The Boys' vibes right through. So savage, humorous and paced nicely.
Tenet (2020)
The sound kills it
I could barely understand what they were saying. This doesn't help when you're trying to understand a complex and new concept. I was ready to call it quits about 20 minutes into the film because it made no sense. Luckily towards the middle, it did start to come together but a lot of important dialogue was lost either due to made sound quality, mumbling, or as other reviewers have stated - important dialogue is only mentioned once. So if you miss it, you miss the whole concept.
Jumanji: The Next Level (2019)
Kevin hart and the rock weren't utilised to their potential
One of the biggest selling points of the first Jumanji was the chemistry between the rock and kevin hart. They're hilarious together. This movie has them playing 2 old men. The forgetfulness gag got really old really quick. I wanted them to switch bodies back to their original characters right from a couple minutes in. There were way too many unfunny, forced jokes. Overall this was a pretty weak story with characters who couldn't deliver the humour.
Joker (2019)
Outstanding
This is one of the few movies where I went in with high expectations and wasn't left dissapointment. The hype is real. The slow build up of tension, in depth character development, interesting shots and Joaquim's brilliant acting made for an amazing film. Heath ledgers joker was always going to be a hard act to follow and this movie goes toe to toe. I loved every minute of it.
The Connected Universe (2016)
95% stock footage, cheap graphics and fluff.
Oh my goodness this was so bad. It's one of those typical documentaries that will throw in some science and some sciencey sounding things together. There's so much fluff. E.g. going off on a tangent about how we've been at war and humanity is suffering etc etc. Then throw in some graphics that show the fibbonaci sequence. And lead the audience to believe that we all effect each other so think happy thoughts and all will be well. They only featured one scientist and his ideas. When only one argument is presented, it is clear bias. Also very little actual data and information of substance was presented. It was mostly woo woo. Don't waste your time.
It Chapter Two (2019)
Cheap scares, bad storytelling
This one relies too much on cheap jumpscares that weren't even scary and at times, very predictable.
I hate when they make characters do stupid irrational things for the sake of steering the story a certain way. The characters come together to kill pennywise, yet they withold important information from each other, don't let each other explain what's going on or talk things through right from the beginning.
The characters were funny as kids, but put those traits into grown adults and it can come across completely differently.
They also tried to rely on the first one too much by doing these irrelevant flashbacks.
Not scary, bad storytelling, save your money.
The Lion King (2019)
I was left asking why was this necessary
And the answer is that we keep paying to see these remakes so disney keeps making them.
The visual effects and animation was amazing. Hats off to all the artists that worked on this.
However, because they've made it so close to photo realistic, the talking and singing lions just felt wierd to me. I just couldn't suspend belief that much.
So why did disney feel the need to remake one of the best animated movies of all time? They couldn't recreate the magic. They almost did it shot for shot too. But the appeal of the 2D version just didn't translate into this version. If they'd kept the character designs cartoony, maybe it would have. But it felt like watching a nature documentary with singing animals.
Game of Thrones: The Iron Throne (2019)
Can't wait for the books
Take all the worst tv show endings like Lost, Dexter, Heroes..and put them all together. That is what this season is like. The writing dipped after season 5 but it was still enjoyable and still had resemblance to the world that GRRM created. This last season took all the lore and threw it out the window. It favoured beautiful shots over storytelling (the scene where Dany looks like she has wings was one of the most awesome shots in this series). It gave us no characters to root for. Their arcs were ruined, and Bran is completely undeserving of the throne. Imagine if at the end of LOTR, it was decided that Pippin should be made king.
Game of Thrones: The Bells (2019)
It's all just a joke now
This episode was all about burning character arcs to the ground. D&D don't care about GoT lore anymore. The characters are vastly different from even 2 seasons ago. They set this episode up in such a way that it's obvious what's going to happen in the finale.
I'm so gutted that one of the best shows on tv is ruined and had to end like this. It's clear this season that they threw story out the door and went for cool visuals instead. At this point I don't care who sits on the iron throne. Just let this stupid season be over.
Game of Thrones: The Last of the Starks (2019)
Wasted episode, wasted season
This isn't the GoT we all loved. One of the main things that we loved about this show is how "realistic" the plot was. We were willing to accept dragons, being raised from the dead, zombie people and so forth because main characters died when they made certain decisions. Because no one was safe. And because even the villians were awesome.
Last episode was painful but I felt like I could go on. This episode has made me lose all hope. The characters have changed, the writing is bad, story jumps e.g. how did they take missandei and how did they know who she is even? What happened between tyrion jumping overboard and seeing a bunch of people wash up on shore.
And don't get me started on Jon. As soon as he found out about his relation to Dany, there's no way that Ned starks nephew would even consider being with her. Oh and ffs, at least PET THE DAMN DIREWOLF !! They were meant to have a greater significance. D&D have reduced them to mere pets.
Oh and Cersei's character. She sent a hitman to kill tyrion but when he's a few feet away she's got a heart. Dany is within killing distance too but again Cersei waits because she knows that there's 2 more episodes to fill.
I wish I could erase this last season from my mind. Maybe one day, 20 years from now when GRRM has finally released the last book, the memory of season 8 will have disappeared from my memory.
