Ask-i Memnu (2008)
all the stars for Kivanc <3
After Fatmagul, this is another depressing love story I forced myself to watch because it has high reviews. Most of reviews considers Behlul to be a bad guy. I believe he was not, but he was unable to choose between his family (mostly Nihal who is too weak and sick) and his forbidden love. I believe the bad guy was Firdevs, she destroyed her own daughter.
Even if I don't like love stories that end up with a marriage, this is a tragedie which is too depressing.
What I liked in this series, the acting of Kivanc; I am in love with him <3
I feel that Kuzey Guney was strongly inspired from this series; the sick daughter who cannot stand a break-up, the guy who was rejected at the army, 2 relatives in love with the same girl, relationships with random people to escape a forbidden love.
Kuzey Güney (2011)
very close to real world
Among all turkish series I've watched so far, this one seems to be the closest to real world. It tells a lot about the daily life of the low/average class on one hand, the rich class on the other hand and also the reality of villages where things are still very hard cor.
It fits nevertheless the typical pattern of turkish series, where there is 2 males fighting about one girl. There is also these ingrediens of "friendship vs brotherhood", "justice vs revenge", "love vs moral" (for ex. Would you be with the ex of your brother even if you're damn in love?) we see in most of turkish series.
Kivanc is very hot in old as much as in new series, but not in this one; he is so skinny and with the scar on the chin, he doesnt look attractive at all. But he succeeded pretty much the role of the poor boy with the messed up family, nice to the point of being naive and stupid. It is the total contrast of the other roles of the rich arrogant guy, like in Cesur ve Gusel.
Çarpisma (2018)
starts boring but then it is heated up more and more by the time.
It fits the typical turkish series pattern of the 2 males conflicting and one female in between but the difference in here is that the 2 guys are not conflicting because of the girl. The girl also is not weak and crying like usual. She is very much a key character despite there is this exhausting attitude of hiding and lying under the pretext of protecting.
The serie is full of spoiler all the way, you hope things will end up differently so you keep on watching until the end.
The acting skills of Kivanc are visible when you compare between the series: in Cesur ve Gusel, he's the smart and rich arrogant charming boy with long hair, in Kuzey Guney, he's the poor skinny boy ex-prisioner with very big self-confidence issues, sometimes too idiot and too naive. In here he is the heartless policeman, even if he is a very nice father, he is rough and anti social. He is totally different from one serie to another. The more I watch the more I'd say, he's number one among all actors, next to burak özçivit and engin akyürek.
I didnt like the cast for AsiyeKaraca and cansiz, but I liked very much all the others.
I didnt like the boring love story between kerem and cemre, they are so much not a match. He didnt let her meet her father alone, he followed her despite she was begging him to leave and he was saying I will never let you alone. I mean are you really helping her by provoking her father? Would she be happy if you make her father a criminal? He was gluing all of the time and he didnt even accept a break up. I mean no space at all.
Cesur Ve Güzel (2016)
Amazing <3
Compared to series like Kara Sevda and Kara Para Ask, this serie has a clear beginning and a clear ending; everything is round up at the end.
Nevertheless it falls within the same pattern of that guy who seeks justice to the point of becoming reckless, like kara sevda, ambassador's daughter, olena kadar.
Episode 16 and 17 are my favorite: events go to a total different direction and things get even more emotional. Episode 23 had a bit of non sens.
I am watching it for the 2nd time and I am still enjoying it. There's 2 perspective, at the beginning I felt Cesur was too rough and never considers Suhan's feelings, but 2nd time I watched I felt the total opposite: he does his best not to talk but she pushes him, and then she gets upset when she hears the truth. Sometimes even he tries to lie not to make her feel upset.
I was feeling 1st time I watched, that Cesur should forget about the past and think about the future, but 2nd time I watched I was feeling that Suhan sticks too much to a father who doesnt deserve that much of sacrifice.
Kara Para Ask (2014)
First part was amazing, 2nd part I liked less
The first part is amazing, it is very original. Mafia on one hand, policemen working off the book on the other hand. It is interesting to see how the case gets solved step by step. All the interactions between actors, the way each of them change side, because of love, family or personal interest.
The second part, with Ipek, is way less original.
Sefirin Kizi (2019)
great until episode 36
The main issue between Sancar and Nare is cultural; he has the typical tribe mindset of honor and revenge while she is quite european.
I believe the bad guy is not Sancar, rather Nare's father. I dont think such a father could exist in real world.
The serie was really cool until the main actress left. On top of this, two important characters, Gediz and Kahraman, also left. The story still had a potential to develop further. There were stilll unrevealed secrets and unresolved conflicts. Out of nowhere everything was cut short and with the new actress it was like a complete different new story. It would make more sens if they only switched the actresses without changing the story.
Kara Sevda (2015)
overall great
Season 1 was so tense of events and very emotional.
Season 2 was interesting in the middle.
They were a lot of non-sens at the ending of season 1 and beginning of season 2. They wanted "somehow" to create the suspens of "when is Kemal going to know about Deniz". I believe they could have done this in a more convincing way.
